So I went for the base 15-inch, which has:
  • 2.6-GHz quad-core Intel Core i7-processor
  • 16 GB 2133-MHz memory
  • 256 GB PCIe-SSD
  • Radeon Pro 450 w/ 2 GB memory
  • 4x Thunderbolt 3 port
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID

That model normally costs €2699 in Belgium, but because I ordered it on the Apple Store for Business by phone, they gave an extra ~6% so it's €2.537.
Then there's still the tax deduction of 21%, so I paid €2.097 instead of €2.699. Pretty sweet!

I originally ordered the base 15 with 256GB and the 450 right as soon as they were available to order. Then later in the night I cancelled that order and switched to the setup below. Unfortunately I was bumped to the 3-4 weeks window.

Configuration
15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray
  • 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB VRAM
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD

13" touch bar w/16gb
ETA 2-3 weeks

15" base
ETA 3-4 weeks

I'm not sure which one I want to cancel though. Is the 15" overkill for Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, and occasionally After Effect/Final Cut? Seems like you get a lot of value for +20% more cash.

I think you should cancel the 13" and go with the 15". All of these programs you mentioned benefit hugely from a larger screen size (at these smaller laptop screen sizes). Well... not the programs themselves but you, yourself using the programs...

...you get what I mean haha.

Anyways, like I said, it's great to have a bigger screen to work on, on all of these programs. Also, they'll benefit from the dGPU.

Seems like you get a lot of value for +20% more cash.

I think you do too. For me, the main reasons to buy a 13" over the 15" are:
  • Lower price
  • Portability/form factor
You seem fine with the extra $$$. So unless portability is a huge factor for you, go 15".

Base 2.6 15 ordered with the upgrade to a 512 SSD and Radeon 460. Hoping it gets here before 11/17

I tried but I don't get accepted. I have never had any type of credit card so my credit history is nonexistent maybe that's why

how old are you? I would open a credit card asap so you can start building your credit.
[doublepost=1477669922][/doublepost]ARe you guys not getting apple care?

My order comes to $3000 after tax. 15" with touch bar with a usb dongle and apple care.

Ordered the 15" in Space Grey at launch with :
  • 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB VRAM
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD
I have shipping lengths of 2 to 3 weeks and should arrive between the 17th and 24th of November.

Question, in my order status, it says processing items. This means my order has been accepted right? I'm currently out of the UK and purchased this using my UK debit card. I've been expecting a call or text from my bank to verify that it's actually me but that hasn't happened yet. The amount hasn't been debited from my account either.

Does anyone know in the UK if you can use student discount and claim the VAT back? Or is it one or the other type situation?
I'm still toying over which options to pick

Thats not right.

As a student you get a custom agreement with Apple with 3 years hardware support. It doesn't include phone support and it isn't called Apple Care. But since when do you use phone support? and when I say phone support I mean with software issues.

So to sum up; buying through the Education store gives you a 3 year hardware warranty. You do not need apple care as all you are paying for is phone support.

Any more info on this? I didn't buy Apple Care but I feel like I should given the bigger hole in my pocket if something were to go wrong.

I got the fully pimped 13" Space Gray as I need a smaller lighter laptop and was lucky enough to get my Apple friend's personal discount.

Only issue: 4-5 weeks

You get 1yrs warranty as standard, and can take Apple Care out at any time in the first 12 months to extend to 3yrs. Right?

Yes, including phone support the whole three years.

And it's worth it. Even after my AAC was out of time frame the support said: "well, I see you bought Apple Care and support this company. I will change your board for free".

Just checking as I will get it, but the current price of the machine excludes me getting it just yet.

I've had Apple Care before (for my Mac Mini, my iMac and my Apple Watch)....never used it yet

I love the new 13" size and I don't mind working on it but I just wonder if I will be sacrificing too much performance for portability. I'll just have to see it person I guess. Thanks for your input.

Got this order in yesterday evening.

15" MacBook Pro - Silver - BTO
  • 2.7GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7
  • 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB VRAM
  • 512GB PCIe-based SSD
At that time the Radeon Pro 460 BTO version was actually shipping faster than the pre-built with the 455. o_O

One question > Can you check any progress with the order or do you simply get a notification that the order is shipping?

Finally ordered my 15" with this configuration:
  • 2.9 GHz Quad-Core i7
  • 1 TB SSD
  • Radeon Pro 460 w/4 GB memory
  • Space Gray
I wasn't sure about the processor upgrade, but I figured, why not? Decided against 2 TB as I just am not going to need it.

Sucks that it's going to take until the end of November though :(

Does the instore pickup date ever change? I sent mine to the store near my inlaws and will only be there a few days for thanksgiving. Leaving the 26th. Kinda screwed if its delayed.
