    Hello,

When the screen is supposed to be black, during the start-up, or when I use a black wallpaper, it seems to be more grayish. I don't know what to think ... it bothers me a little. I dont know if its really an issue, do I have to give back the mac or all macbook pro are like this one ?

    Thank you for your reply.

Looks like your screen is turned up high, in which case black will show as dark grey. But it's hard to judge from the angle of the photo.

Yes the screen is turned up high, but even at 80% its not really black, there is a contrast with the screen bezel, which is black.
    Sorry for my english.

That's normal. The backlight for this screen is still very bright at 80%. The screen won''t be nearly as black as the bezel. (Your English is good.)

new-macbook-pro-hands-on-2-1280x720.jpg When I see pictures and videos (youtube review) the contrast is not really obvious. That's why I was really surprised, in a wrong way, when I unboxed the macbook, thinking maybe there was a problem with this one.

Maybe you're right ... but I have a doubt about it, I cant get out of my head the idea there is a problem ... its an expensive laptop, I dont want to risk missing something, keep it and regret it.

If someone can post a picture like I did (better quality would be best ...). I cant compare to others Macs where I live.

My screen is at 80%, less its not easy to read and watch movies.

    A distinct contrast.

If you're in a brightly-lit room, like where those press photos are taken or where most YouTube videos are going to be filmed (because you get nicer video with better lighting), black levels will look very black.

In a more dimly-lit room like yours, and especially with the brightness over 2/3 or so, there will be a notable contrast. It's an IPS panel, not OLED (almost no laptops are), so there's no "perfect" blacks.

Try using it in a bright flourescent-lit room or in sunlight and it'll look more like you expect.

Someone can post picture of their macbook pro, with black screen at 80% brightness or more. Please. Maybe if I can compare it will help me to tell if it's ok or not.

I don't think that it is a problem. All IPS panels suffer for this and the black is not so dark.
Now let me ask: did you try to decrease your screen brightness?

    Yes I did.

I just went to a reseller and their macbook screen have indeed the contrast between bezel and the screen, but not as much as mine ...
I dont know what to do. Nobody can post a picture like I did ... :/

Same model at same brightness? There is some variation between samples of the same model, but they should be pretty close.

It looks normal to me. Sorry I can't provide a photo, though!
