Finally, former Mets catcher Mike Piazza makes it to the HOF, way over due.

Can't agree more on that sentiment. I watched the announcement and as soon as he started reading the stats for Piazza I knew he'd made it. I'm somewhat shocked Hoffman didn't make it but this WAS his first year on the ballot, he'll make it next year.

I was SHOCKED to see Luis Castillo got no votes and won't be on the ballot again ;)

Denard Span, new Giant, .301 last year, OF

We should be up there at top of odds with Cubs again. He's up there with Aoki.

Ruben tejada and Matt harvey extend their contracts with the Mets, the Dark Knight will remain in Gotham.

For at least 1 year. Both were deals to avoid salary arbitration. I'm happy with the Tejada deal, I feel he's a superior SS to Flores.

I wonder if you are going to keep Cespedes. He's the type of talent that the Giants could use, if we have enough left in bank to afford him to put us past the talents of the Chicago Cubs. Both the Cubs and Giants have fought for top odds in run for 2016 World Series.

Rumor is that Cespedes is weighing offers from New York and Baltimore, nothing about the Giants in there...

remember one thing, cespedes is a good bat but how come no team wants to keep him long term? makes you think.

He could help either one, and I hope problems he had with Mets don't hurt other teams. We had Barry Bonds and while he helped, his attitude also hurt. Very, very few people get a chance at the majors, and even when there it's hard to produce. Cespedes may have what is common which is an attitude problem. Sometimes this can be corrected, but for others they don't take a long term chance on that.

It's going to be hard with the Royals in that division.

Royals are down a few players, and remember Cueto is not there anymore.

The Tigers may have a good chance in AL coming up, at least for wild card.

The Red Sox should also do better, but maybe not with Aroldis Chapman on Yankees who could be the AL's biggest threat. With the musical chairs of hot stove, this coming year could be very interesting indeed with last year's powerful teams not making the playoffs at all.

Breaking news::::::: Cespedes talking with the Mets on a 3 yr. deal. Cespedes says 'he wants to stay with the Mets' according to media outlets. lets see if this is true and he accepts what the Mets offer him. he should make a decision in 48 hrs.

You need him and if the other team gets (Nationals) him, it can't help you in any way having him hit against you in same division. Keep him, he hit .291 last year.

But maybe the morale in the club house will be better without him, but then somebody will have to step it up in his place. You do want to return to World Series so I hope for your sake they have a solid plan. Cespedes was a part of your climb to the top of the NL late in the season, right?

This Just In:::: Cespedes stays with the Mets. he even turned down more money from the Nats. With this news plus Wilmer's tears says that this team has something special. :D

I'm indifferent on this. I feel like he's not a better CF than Lagares is, though his bat certainly helps. There's some reason 4 teams have traded him and a reason NOBODY wanted to pony up the money he wanted.

On the "this team has something special", heard an interview that this is a reason it took so long for Murphy to sign with another team, he had hopes the Mets would offer him SOMETHING even if it was less than he might have gotten elsewhere. In a way, it's refreshing to hear that money isn't everything to SOME of these guys. Don't forget about Wheeler's call to Alderson on trade deadline day, expressing his DESIRE to stay with this team. Maybe Harvey will follow suit when he hits the FA market and stick with them even if it's for less.

Giants fall in odds while Cubs rise.

The betting is +400 for Cubs, +600 for Giants, and +900 for Red Sox. Previously, the Cubs and Giants were both locked in at +500 each. I think what changed is how delicate Cueto, Samardzija, and Span may be through 2016. The Cubs should be the team to beat, but at the same time a dark horse like the Nationals or Dodgers, both at +1400 can come in and take it all. The talent will all be crowded at the top in the national league this year.

If Giants don't get it, I will root for either the Cubs or the Red Sox.
