In the world of pro baseball, everyone pushes each other but no one throws blows and if you do, its considered a sucker punch cause its unexpected.

Darn Cubs beating Giants! It would have been huge for Jake Peavy to beat Jake Arrieta on this one, especially since we went with Peavy and didn't sign Tim Lincecum who ended up going to the Angels. The Cubs are obviously a very good team and probably the best we will see for entire year.

At least Dodgers lost last night and the Rockies are no longer in the close second place just a game or half a game back and hot on trail in NL West. Those two worry me most in division right now and Cubs in the NL or baseball in general. If the Cubs somehow don't make postseason, it will be the biggest disappointment since it's almost as if they are destined for that. If the Cubs take it all the way, it won't surprise me in the least. They are monsters and their coaching and (front/back office) staff are said to be just as good. Top of Power Rankings:

Speaking of sucker punch, what happened to Matt Harvey.
It just seems like all the Mets pitchers have something wrong. I know that's more perception, but Harvey went from ace to AAA.

I have nothing but respect for Jake Peavy, but he looks like a DFA waiting to happen.

As far as the Cubs are concerned, they look poised to end the 100+ year drought within the next 5 seasons.

I agree, and I think his great days are behind him even though after his prime he still got a Giants and Red Sox pair of World Series rings. He was the man back in 2007 when he got the Cy Young. Like any pitcher, great or not, age 30 or so or somewhat later has a way of taking one out of the majors for good. Sometimes a player bounces back and forth between the two and pick up awards and rings (like our Barry Zito or Travis Ishikawa), but time is on nobody's side.

For sure. The Sox cut John Danks this year, which just happens. Part of the game.

Matt Cain looks good again, finally. I can't stand peavey. I wish we could trade him, I know we can't, so cut him.

Peavy's last really good run was helping us in our run up to the postseason in 2014 and part of that, too pitching a respectable 2.17 ERA. He really helped when we needed it but after that year he simply got old. In a perfect world we would have a 2014 Peavy, 2012 Vogelsong, and an earlier version of Affeldt, but age gets everybody. I think maybe Lincecum could have revitalized his career but the Angels got him.

SF is in a good lead in NL West right now but we have to do something about Cain and Peavy long term this season if we are to get a 4th ring under Bochy.

I feel more optimistic about Cain, like he's finally found his groove again. Peavy? I think he gets two more starts (against comparatively weak teams) and then he gets dropped if he can't do better. The question is who replaces him, as Heston isn't exactly dominating AAA right now. I hope that the Giants' trying to shove him into the Yusmeiro Petit-style long relief / swingman role didn't permanently mess him up.

Otherwise, the top 3 starters are really living up to billing so far. I was very nervous about the Samardzija signing, but, thinking about why he struggled in 2015 and all the factors in San Francisco that could potentially help him bounce back, he has indeed bounced back in a big way. I was also concerned about Cueto, but he has been so much fun to watch so far. And MadBum is MadBum, enough said.

Good thing the starting pitching has been so good, as the offense has been stuck in neutral lately. If the Giants make a mid-season trade, then surely it will be for a left fielder who can hit, no?

I think they should keep Parker up and get rid of Blanco... am I crazy?

Jake Arrieta tied for most consecutive team wins all time (regardless of whether the starter got the win or a no-decision). Next start: Tuesday May 31st

Dodgers @ NY Mets this weekend. Either the Mets waste no time throwing behind Utley's back or they pull a Texas and wait for Sunday. No way in heck the Mets let it ...

Wait for it ...

Slide. :D

lol Some people have no clue about the Mets. Anyway, here are the current National/East standings for May...

move him to left?

Blanco can play center, Parker can't. Given Span and Pagan's injury histories, it's an awfully good idea to have a third OF who can play CF well, and I'd much rather see Blanco in CF than Pagan at this point. I'm glad Blanco doesn't have to start every day, but he's as good a fourth outfielder as you can ask for.

Will be interesting to see what the Giants do with their outfield this offseason, when Pagan and Blanco's contracts expire.

Need to break out of a slump? Play against Atlanta! That was one sad sad series. Granted, Kershaw had a "bad" game against them, but the Braves is one really sad team. Freddie Freeman deserves better.

Breaking News:::

Jose Reyes is coming back to the Mets, excited with this move. We need another active bat.
