This sounds too good to be true, and frankly it probably is. There are always rumors and renders based on extreme wish lists (laser projected keyboards?), and it usually falls short.

My prediction is the 2016 iPhone won't suck as bad as everyone is expecting and the 2017 iPhone won't be as groundbreaking as this post suggests. I feel quite confident in my predictions about the 2017 phone, but I fear I may just be naively hoping about the 2016 iPhone.

Gee with all the rumors about the 2017 iPhone, I wonder why suppliers are thinking this years iPhone won't have as much demand due to "lack of innovation"

Honestly at this point, scrap the iPhone 6SS thats looking like it's coming this fall then move the 2017 one up to spring/early summer of next year. I mean at this rate the iPhone this fall will be DOA as everyone will wait for the true iPhone 7, not this 6SS placeholder that just removes the headphone jack and adds a dual camera to the "pro" version.

what i don't understand is why is apple leaking this information? why would they intentionally cripple the iphone 7? this is all very extroadinary, unless the apple watch 2 kills it, they're in for a tough year.

Looks awesome to me. Much more modern. Now if they could just ditch the cartoon graphics and make the UI a little more sophisticated too.

Judging by the amount of rumoured iPhone 8 improvements and the already leaked iPhone 7 design, this might be the worst quarter for Apple. If the recent quarter has been disregarded by the "normal" investor, the next downturn might wake them up eventually.

I have skipped the 6S and probably will skip the 7. I do not care about Tim saying that it has something new and exciting.
What I want has been already discussed here, so I want repeat it, but it is certainly not another gimmick like 3D Touch or True Tone on a tiny screen.

Louis CK was right. just heard about this 5 minutes ago, and already you are pissed you are going to have to wait for it.

Not sure how you inferred I was "pissed" that I'd have to wait? I never even said I wanted it. What I did say is Apple should have something like this ready to push out the door THIS year, not next. EVERYONE want's something different from Apple instead of a re-bake of a has-been product.

I do not want edge to edge. Smaller bezels, yes. But edge to edge - even if there's software to help eliminate accidental touches - will be a pain in the you-know-what.

If the iPhone 7 is waterproof and is designed to take good pictures and video underwater, I'm in this year. If not, looks like I'll be waiting until 2017 to upgrade my iPhone 6.

Edge to edge would be completely useless for many since most people put a case on. I already cannot use the edges of my iPhone 6 when I have the Apple leather case on.

Under Tim Cook's Apple, they're so over their head and out of ideas, that there's now THREE years between re-design and innovation cycles. My God, fire the guy already.
This is a natural progression of a matured product. iPhone's closest competitor, Samsung's Galaxy S series, is even more static. The latest Galaxy S7 looks largely identical to Galaxy S4 released in early 2013 (when we were rocking iPhone 5). That 4 generations of phones using the same design.

I think we wouldn't be complaining as much if iPhone 6's design is unanimously praised. But it draws decidedly mixed response, akin to Chris Bangle's earlier BMW.
