And here is another reason not to waste your money on iPhone 7 when iPhone 8 has actual improvements.
I agree completely. It's another reason. But it's still not a good enough reason for me to skip the iPhone 7. I missed the pre-launch window for logistical reasons, but as soon as I can walk into an AT&T store (without lines) and walk out with an iPhone 7+, that's what I'm going to do. I want the better camera and the 3D touch and the faster TouchID and all the other improvements since my iPhone 6+.

iPhone 8 will change the world.

I just hope that they give it a better screen lol.

IPhone 7S is likely what we will be getting so I wouldn't get your hopes up about some crazy redesign. Reminds me of when people thought Apple wasn't going to do a 4S and that instead there would be some amazing redesigned iPhone.

OMG! The iPhone 7 isn't even really out and they want to speculate what is going into the 2017 phone.
Let me give you a clue.
It will be faster, the display and camera probably better and it will ship with the latest iOS.
Technology changes. You can be assured they are working on the next phone.

Give it a stinking rest......

2017 iPhone is what the iPhone 7 which is really a castrated iPhone 6S should be.

So where does the front-facing camera and speaker for phone calls go exactly?

What I am hearing is that the top of the screen will have a longer slit for the phone speaker so the screen will go around it. it will also be directly on the line for the top bar which has the time and e.g. on the very top of the phone. The Camera will sit on the edge of this phone speaker slit. previously the speaker slit was colored grey, this time it will be black so as to not seem like a slit but part of the display. the angle of the glass will be such that the color will bleed around the edge of the slit so make it look like part of the screen.

I am hearing its going to be the teardrop design which is only possible with removing the headphone jack

The ceramic Apple Watch costs four times as much as the aluminium model so it's probably a bit too expensive to use on the larger iPhone case.

The ceramic is what Apple is charging for the Apple Watch, we don't actually know the cost of the ceramic, in all fairness.

And with Ceramic being prone to shattering, I'm not confident Apple would invest in this casing for an iPhone.

Now this is what I want to upgrade to! I'll hold onto my 6 Plus until the 2017 iPhone.

I'm just concerned what Apple is going to do with the front facing camera and speaker if the entire phone will be a piece of glass with an edge-to-edge screen?

Possibly one of the worst reviews I've ever read, and especially from the Times it worries me how general media approaches tech.

For example, this sentence is the beginning and end of whatever glitches the AirPod may have:

Apple is pushing people toward wireless earphones with the introduction of AirPods, its first wireless earbuds, which I tried. I found AirPods to be a decent first attempt at wireless audio, though there were glitches.

Considering wireless audio and the AirPod is a significant part of the iPhone 7, if not direction Apple is taking with iPhones, you'd think he'd have elaborated what glitches he encountered when dealing with Apple's flagship wireless earpods.

EDIT: I just realised, beyond his "Bottom line:" comment, he covers what he found to be glitches and issues with the AirPods. It's arranged like a blog, and I guess I ought to have read it as such.

iPhone 8:

Edge-to-edge screen
TouchID sensor built/fused into screen
Iris/Retina scanning capabilities
Removal of Lightning connector--wireless charging and completely waterproof, only wireless audio available
Can work with Apple Pencil
Performance and Camera improvements, can take 3D pictures
Maybe even an option to have a glasses-free 3D screen

My post is supposed to be sarcastic. But the more I wrote it, the more I believed it.

Camera goes underneath the screen, speaker goes on the top centre outer edge with a fine perforation.

My biggest concern with this would be how you would get a screen protector on that thing without covering up the camera, should it indeed be under the glass. I tend to be a bit of a butterfingers with my phone, and there's no way I would ever buy one without getting both a case and a screen protector to put on it.

New screen yes.. home button built into that.. I don't think so. At least not after they just redesigned it. Going to be around for a bit longer before Apple tells people the home button is old technology we needed to remove it to make room for more things.

They will do it!

Why?

Courage!

And there will be an adapter with a home button in each box. $ 9.95

Ready for the 8.

I wonder if those two anonymous Apple employees are going to get fired for leaking information.

It wouldn't be hard for Apple to figure out which two Apple employees just did an interview with NYT.

Except what the iPhone 7 offers is essentially the same. It isn't a physical button, it's a touch capacitive button with haptic feedback. It will feel the exact same as a capactive button built into the touch screen.

Good point, never thought of that, even though I employ the same level of protection as you do. Then again, I never ever use the front-facing camera. :)

But if they have courage, it will happen next year.

Im just worried it will have some sort of a design flaw which happens everytime they change the design radically.

But the design flaws aren't really design flaws.
