yep, that will be the updated iPhone to buy. Everyone from SONY, Huawei, Samsung already releasing Edge to Edge models - and they look amazing. And by next September Bluetooth 5.0 would have been out for 8 months and you can get an actual upgrade to wireless audio in a mobile - not PR trash trying to pass almost 3 year old tech as "the future"

The iPhone 7 is an expensive stepping stone with a 3 year old design.

From what I've read BT 5.0 updates are primarily aimed at increased broadcast throughput so stores can firehose spam every smartphone within range. I cannot find anything on increased audio throughput, which is the only way it will ever be acceptable for quality audio.

Sounds terrific. I just hope they offer one in the body size of the SE with increased screen size (though I expect what they'll do is for bigger screens onto the bodies of the 7 and 7+).

Glad I didnt get the IP7+.. sticking with my super working IP6s+ for 1 more year and then bam!! 256gb new shiney IP8!

You guys haven't learned to believe the rumors yet? Everything about the iPhone 7 held true.
Sort of. We spent a lot of time kvetching about whether two speakers on the bottom of the phone would have enough separation to produce a stereo effect. The rumors about stereo all seemed to suggest that the second speaker would be where the 3.5mm jack used to be. And of course many pointed out it would be useless when watching movies in landscape mode.

A second speaker on the top of the phone never was part of any rumor that I remember. That was a surprise to me.

Edge to edge screen is worth upgrading my iPhone6 for, its still working fine and the 7 offers nothing really

There we go!!! This is the real machine we're waiting for :D
I mean, 7 is a good iteration of iphone but 2017 will be big!!!! I'm gonna cope it for sure.

People that have a 6/6S should pass on the 7 unless they have the money to spend or on upgrade program...else, just w84the8! :D

Like the idea but it will make typing difficult as the keyboard cannot be at the very bottom of the screen. It is difficult to type. So if they move the keyboard up then that reduces the real estate on the screen. Will be interesting to see how they achieve this.

Way too early. I'd expect more of a 7S update than this. Perhaps iphone 8 in 2018 because bad news..supply problems, etc.

What's the chances we get a ceramic + sapphire iPhone 8?

What if you need to hard reboot your phone and the screen is out??

The new iPhone 7 already made the switch to using the volume keys instead.

No doubt it was always Apple's intention to have this design after the iPhone 6 design, but they just couldn't do it in two years and had to stretch the iPhone 6 design out to last three years. Nothing about being lazy or not innovating.
Oh my god, I pray you are right and I'm a third generation atheist.

This seems plausible given all the patents along this line. But I still think Apple will go with micro LED over OLED. I understand that the technology is better and should be in-line price wise by next year.

I hope so. But OLED timelines continually slipped. New technology rarely makes it to market at the pace hoped for.

I've used a bezel-less phone for 2 years (Sharp Aquos Crystal) (well, bezel-less on 3 sides). It was a terrific experience, it would've been much better if it weren't running Android (but that is a separate issue). For those concerned with accidentally touching the screen while holding it, I did that 3 or 4 times the first week of ownership, after that, not an issue.

Sharp used the screen itself as the earpiece for calls. It worked surprisingly well. Especially considering that I have tinnitus I didn't think it would work, but it did.

I doubt the bezel rumor is true for the iPhone, but if Apple could do it at least as well as Sharp, it's going to be amazing.
