I can't imagine how angry Apple is at this rumor, or the timing of it.

It makes me feel better about skipping this generation—I've purchased every iPhone released.

For me, it's inductive charging and a better screen I really want. The camera is fine for the pictures I tak—I'm no pro.

I'm hoping the move to wireless included charging. Bring out a new display with a base to charge the next iPhone, iPad, keyboard, mouse, watch.

So great clicky home button made into worse not click button made worse into glitchy 3D button. I feel like usability is heading the wrong direction.

yep, that will be the updated iPhone to buy. Everyone from SONY, Huawei, Samsung already releasing Edge to Edge models - and they look amazing. And by next September Bluetooth 5.0 would have been out for 8 months and you can get an actual upgrade to wireless audio in a mobile - not PR trash trying to pass almost 3 year old tech as "the future"

The iPhone 7 is an expensive stepping stone with a 3 year old design.

but overall the 5s is/was the best designed iPhone to date.
my 5S sucked..had an inherent battery problem where it would go from 15% to shut off in 3 seconds...the replacement one they gave me was not as bad, but the battery didn't hold up longer than 14 months. My iphone 6 is on 2 years with same battery.

im all for smaller bezels, but no bezel at all. no thanks. i want to be able to grab my phone without touching the screen and clicking things.

I'm sure iOS and apps would take into account holding the device. Buttons do not have to be near the edge. Swipes could be set to only register if they include a portion of the motion that is more central.

That's my guess. I think they will rename it Apple Phone. I'm skipping the iphone 7 and most likely picking up an S7 this week. Figured I would try something new as Apple really has failed to keep me as a customer.
I don't blame you. Best iPhone I've owned was the 4. Awesome design, good battery life. I got the 5S mainly for TouchID, design wasn't as good though and the battery life is so wretched I had to buy a battery case to get through the day. I can forgive Apple for using the same form
factor 3 years in a row, but the 6-6S-7 are a dreadfully ugly design whose bloated bezels and goofy antenna bands had me shaking my head at it since it was leaked. If my 5S breaks between now and the OLED phone I'll get a SE to fill the gap. I'll never reward Apple with my hard-earned money for such hideous design.

Sounds awesome. Can't wait to get my 7. Better pictures for a year, amazingly fast CPU for a year, better battery life for a year. Sell it and get 80% of my money back, then onto iPhone 8.

Looks lovely, but I'm happy with my 7+ decision. 3rd rev of proven hardware. That puts me on track for the 2018 iPhone, and that'sll be 2nd gen.

With an all-glass, edge-to-edge display, Apple design chief Jony Ive's vision of an iPhone that looks like a single sheet of glass could finally come true in 2017. Regarding the display, it's said to be flexible OLED rather than an LCD, allowing Apple to introduce a thinner device that consumes less power and offers a better display with higher contrast ratio and more true to life colors.

Oh FFS why does it always have to be thinner! Think of all the extra room an OLED would create, room for a better camera, crazy long battery life, more haptic trickery, and yes, even a freakin' audio jack!

Anyone else notice how Ive's thin fetish gets worse as he grows fatter? Somebody get him a personal trainer and put his hubristic ass on a diet!

The ceramic Apple Watch costs four times as much as the aluminium model so it's probably a bit too expensive to use on the larger iPhone case.

But do you think it cost Apple 4 times as much to produce? (I don't know the answer to this but I would assume no."

This is interesting because will this new design be the iPhone 7s in 2017 or iPhone 8 in 2018?

Something tells me Apples going to hold on to this current design until 2018. They won't make a whole new design iPhone and call it a 7s.

I have a pair of Jaybird BlueBuds X, which are decent. I use them exclusively at the gym and my Shure SE425 buds everywhere else. The sound quality of the Shures is worlds better than the BlueBuds. As a musician/somewhat of an audiophile, this is extremely important to me. Also, Bluetooth headphones are yet another thing I'd have to worry about keeping charged. If the battery dies during my 90 minute commute to/from work, there goes my music!

Yep. Had that happen to me yesterday at the end of my commute home. Only short about five minutes though. But since the notification screen provides battery life indication, it doesn't happen much. On my cheapo headphones the notification doesn't work great. It kind of just tells me 100% for a long time and then starts to drop suddenly. But I assume on new headphones and all Apple or Beats headphones it will work perfectly and you will be able to tell at a glance how much juice you've got.

But if you are going to use a wire, then the dongle just makes that wire two inches longer. I don't see how it really gets in the way anymore than the build in wire does already. And since the dongle costs $9, you just buy two or three and leave them connected to your favorite sets of headphones.

It just isn't a deal breaker to me if one is really in the market for a new phone. The hassle of not using iOS, not getting security updates, or buying older iPhones seems much worse than this jack issue. Though Android OS is fine now as well and Android phones are half the price for powerful phones. Those are the real reasons to go Android, in my opinion, not the lack of jack.
