2017 MBP Screen Issues

So I pick up a 2017 13" non-TB MBP today from Best Buy. Man are they nice. Set it up and there it is, yellowish bands across the middle and bottom of the screen. Visible on website with white background or scrolling any website with white as the background-most. I just sent back a refurbed 2015 MBP for the same reason-left and right side was yellow/pinkish. I really like everything esle on the MBP-weight, build, OS, etc. but I can't justify spending $1,200 and watching half the screen with a yellow tinge bug me for the next 3 years. The screen is A033 btw.

Do I take it back to BB and try another 2017 and hope I get lucky? See what Apple can do? Return it and be done with MBP until they fix these issues? I don't think 'learn to live with it' is an option at this point. Boy does this sucks.

I think you have 3 options:

1) keep exchanging until you find a screen to your satisfaction

2) accept that the screen won't be perfect and learn to live with it

3) move on from this version of MBP and wait for the eventual update to OLED, which may or may not have these issues

Yeah, I am. I got it at Best Buy. You can get banned for too many returns easily, so I am debating whether to exchange it-risk that being the last time-or just return it and pay more at Apple. I only paid $1,074 after student discount.

Pretty sure that is not true. I do returns at Best Buy all the time and have never had any issues. Ironically Walmart banned me last week for having three returns without a receipt. *rolleyes

Either way, there is no way that type of policy would apply if a product is actually defective. Just take it back to Best Buy, tell them the issue, and get a new one. Really shouldn't be that difficult.

I think around 70%. Changing the brightness will change the banding, but it not enough to make it go away.

It is true. Google banned at best buy for returns. They track all returns. Too many in a short period of time and you can be banned from 90 days to a year.

I returned 4 PC's before settling for the MacBook Pro NTB, Best Buy had no Issue with this, I am new to Mac, and can say that I will be keeping this machine, everything about this machine has impressed me, I have lots of learning to do as I am unfamiliar with OS and this huge track pad.

Were they all from BB within a short period?

How are the whites on your screen?

Return it.
Get your money back while it's not too late.
You won't regret it, you will regret keeping it.
Wait for a 2018.
There are waaaayyyyy too many problems with the 16 and 17 so they have GOT to be working on lots and lots of fixes.

How is this YOUR fault that Apple makes these vastly inferior computers now a days???
Just get it from an Apple store.

You got a defective product. Definitely take it back to Best Buy and exchange it. They will not argue with you over one exchange of a defective machine. I have no issues with he display on my 2017 15"; uniform color/ backlight distribution.

UPDATE: Exchanged the MBP at Best Buy. No hassle. I had my fingers crossed when I got it home and fired it up. No screen issues! The screen on the new unit is A034, the screen I had issues with was A033. The A034 is uniform. No 'warm'-yellow-sections or zones. After sending back my 2015 rMBP for the same issue-yellow portions of the screen and then having a 2017 have bad uniformity issue I almost lost faith. It shouldn't be this hard to make a decent screen.

I don't blame you. I had decided if the exchanged unit wasn't uniform I was done with the MBP.

Glad it worked out for you!

I have no issues with my 2017 15" - appears totally uniform. How do you find out the display model number?

System Preferences/Display/Color/Open Profile. Go to line 17.

AO33 here and I have no Issues, unless I don't know what to look for on the screen. Any suggestions where I can go to specifically see these Issues or a site with a white screen back ground.

Found white screen.com, different level of brightness and I don't see banding at all.
