Hopefully it keeps a small footprint like the 5W charger. The only nice thing about it.

That sketch kind of looks a bit similar to the Choetech USB-C charger MacRumors reviewed back in December.

Anyways I won't go out of my way to buy it if/when it comes out. My current 12W & 10W iPad and Anker chargers recharge my iPhone plenty fast.

Apple saw the light.. hay if we switch to USB-C cables in the box people will have to buy 25$ USB-C to USB-A cables to plug phones into their cars and such, LOL. See android comes with USB-C to USB-A cables not USB-C to USB-C. Apple puts in an order for 3 million USB-C to USB-A cables.

I guess dropping lightning is not an option, but would be neat if everything was USB-C

Not really, I much prefer lightning. But I'd be very glad to see a 18W Usb power adapter in the box. It's ridiculous to ship a $1000 phone with a slow USBA charger.

This. I don't mind a USB-C connector on things larger than a phone or tablet, but when it comes to small size and durability, Lightning poops all over USB-C.

Today's report suggests the design of the charger that ships with the iPhone will see an overhaul, going from the traditional square shape to something more akin to an oval.
The 5-W iPhone charging 'blocks' have quite different shapes around the world, depending on the type of electrical plugs used in the respective countries. Below you first see the (North) American version, then the British version (following the rather bulky shape of their plugs) and finally the ones used in most of Europe (Europlug) as well as Africa and Asia:

It was surprising that this didn’t happen last year with the X but it makes sense for it to happen this year. It appears that Apple didn’t ship the iPad Pros with a fast charging power brick because it was planing to release a dedicated iOS 18W adapter.

Can you name a iPhone that does not slow down after 2 OS update?

By the time when Apple pushes the final update, these iPhone already slow as crap. iOS 7 on iPhone 4, iOS 9 on iPhone 4S and iOS 10 on iPhone 5? What is the point when you give x years of software update when that OS completely ruined the phone? I rather them stop supporting the devices and allow me downgrade to software that runs in acceptable speed.

You guys think Apple gave X years software support is great, in reality, it is stupid.

Phones are purely commodity. Anything money can buy is commodity. If my 300 dollars Android phone comes with quick charger and USB C cable and headphone, then $1300 iPhone X should.

And yes, Android phone offers similar support, experience and service Apple offers and sometimes better.
That's your opinion, not reality. If phones were "purely a commodity" Apple wouldn't have the success. People see value in iOS and the hardware and software support.

Frankly, I don't think iOS runs slowly on older hardware, but you or me can't speak to that. I do know a lot of iPhone 6, 6s, and 7 still are being used.

My 7+ charges extremely rapidly using a Macbook 29 watt USB C charging cable from Apple. I assume it also has an 18 watt capability. So this doesn’t begin with the 8 series.

Even better would be eschewing Lightning and going USB-C. Lightning was a huge upgrade over the old 30-pin dock. We need some more of that Apple 'courage.'

Hmm, I must be on something...

And the strategy working has nothing to do with Apple not giving us a fast charger
And I could post 20 screenshots of other iPhones that cost less. What's your point? 1 top of the line iPhone with max spec is $1200? Who cares? You're getting other stuff with that phone for the $1200.

They sell a $349 iPhone too...send me a screenshot of that.

Yeeeaaaah right! Bean counter Tim Cook would have a heart attack when he sees how much that would cut in to profit margins.

Well. It is pure commodity? What do you think? It is produced and sold to public just like cloth. I don’t see the value of
iOS and hardware and software supports. I have all the iPhone until iPhone 6S, I used every generation of iOS and I used almost all generation of Android. I have 10+ iPhone and 20+ Android. I honestly can’t see how iOS and iPhone superior than Android. Sometimes, I found some tasks are easily accomplished on Android ( USB OTG, file browsers etc)

iOS 11 absolutely struggles on iPhone 5S and iPhone 6. Apps purge out of memory like no tomorrow, lags are very observable.

I cannot decide for anyone. I rather want spend 300 dollars for nice mid range Android phone each year than spend 1300+ on a iPhone that will slows down in 2 years.

I don’t expect heated seats, a sunroof, and better tyres on a Honda Civic
There are all kinds of things people value with phones. Apple delivers many of those which people value over the Android experience, namely iOS.

Consumers clearly don't care about the wattage of their charger enough to not buy, otherwise the consumer would change their behavior.

Love how you guys act like Android is doing it right when a company like Samsung Mobile would kill to have anything remotely approaching Apple sales.

This will make all apple accessories right now outdated, and will make all apple accessories (in the future) usable by other phones.
