Well. It is pure commodity? What do you think? It is produced and sold to public just like cloth. I don’t see the value of
iOS and hardware and software supports. I have all the iPhone until iPhone 6S, I used every generation of iOS and I used almost all generation of Android. I have 10+ iPhone and 20+ Android. I honestly can’t see how iOS and iPhone superior than Android. Sometimes, I found some tasks are easily accomplished on Android ( USB OTG, file browsers etc)

iOS 11 absolutely struggles on iPhone 5S and iPhone 6. Apps purge out of memory like no tomorrow, lags are very observable.

I cannot decide for anyone. I rather want spend 300 dollars for nice mid range Android phone each year than spend 1300+ on a iPhone that will slows down in 2 years.
Just because you don't see it doesn't mean others don't.

iPhone is software, which is intellectual property of Apple and their biggest reason for customer loyalty. Electricity, gas, and water are commodities. Phones are far different.

If it's a commodity for you, good for you. This isn't what the market tells us though. Apple just sold a $1,000 phone at record numbers and it was THE most popular phone in their lineup and took 35% of all mobile profits.

You think people are just idiots and all of them chose to spend $1,000 on a device that is EXACTLY the same as a competitor? Wake up, you're wrong.

The vast majority of users charge overnight while they sleep. 5W is more than enough to charge a phone during that time.

Why is 5W insufficient in your mind?

My Huawei P10 comes with fast charger. If my phone is almost empty, top for 30 minutes, it goes back to 80%. See the point of fast charge? It is ridiculous that almost 1000 dollar phone ( iPhone 8 here in Canada cost 929 before tax, 1300 for iPhone X) that has fast charging capability and not include a fast charger

Happy to hear this, but would be even better if the iPhone went USB-C.

Currently my whole setup at home is USB-C aside from my iPhone (lightning) and car (USB-A). It makes things so much easier.
Camera, GoPro, desktop gaming PC, external HDD, flash drive, MacBook - all Type-C.

My 7+ charges extremely rapidly using a Macbook 29 watt USB C charging cable from Apple. I assume it also has an 18 watt capability. So this doesn’t begin with the 8 series.

iPhone 7 doesn't have 18W capability.

Only newer models like iPhone 8 and X have a USB Type-C Port Controller.

No. I don’t think people are idiots and all of them choose spend $1000 on a devices. But iPhone is commodity, like any other commodities, like cars, house and whatever.

I do not care if Apple sold record number of iPhone. iPhone still minority compare with massive market share from Android. Yes, most people in the world choose Android over iPhoe

As long as we are talking about stuff that doesn't matter...

I can't wirelessly charge my iPhone any time I'm home and use my iPad charger to charge it a little quicker. The iPhone X battery life is so good, I don't have to charge it for 2 days with heavy use. If I do charge, I charge at night so I couldn't care less how quickly it charges.

BTW, just this fiscal year, (6 months) 130M people bought iPhones with the 5W included charger. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S9 is failing.

Do the other phones give you iOS, years of hardware and software support, and the integration of software/hardware of Apple?

Let's grow up and not act like phones are purely a commodity. There is a difference between the Apple experience, support, and service over the Android competitor.

Let's also grow up and not act like the iphone and ios are inferior to Android in every single facet of a smartphone. Simply isn't true. Notifications and assistants, as an example, are clearly better on Android at the moment.

As a long time Apple and iphone fan I'll actually take the current user experience of Android over ios. Problem is there isn't a Android phone or smartwatch that I like at the moment.

Let's also be real, both get the job done and done very well at this point in the smartphone product cycle. It really comes down to what features you prioritize and personal preference.

Because some folks need to charge in middle of day due to battery dying, fast charging helps a lot when scrambling to plug into a random bar or restaurant or airport electrical outlet and need to get the battery recharged fast.

Apple's accessory pricing is highway robbery.
I don’t disagree, but I have charging blocks that I bought almost ten years ago and they still work today as new. Seems like a minimal loss to me... I have gone through several Anker dual USB-A bricks in the last several years because of manufacture quality.

Quality over quantity.

The 5-W iPhone charging 'block' has quite different shapes around the world depending on the type of electrical plugs used in the respective countries. Below you first see the American version, than the British version (following the rather bulky shape of their plugs) and finally the ones used in most of Europe (Europlug):

Man, it sucks to be yinz. Before my kittens decided that wireless charging was the only option, I loved using my little itty bitty wall wart to charge over night.

Even better would be eschewing Lightning and going USB-C. Lightning was a huge upgrade over the old 30-pin dock. We need some more of that Apple 'courage.'

No.

I HATED the USB C connector on my Pixel. No where near as good a connection as the lightning.

Yes.

Just do away with lighting already...

No.

Here is a map of which countries are compatible with the Europlug version (and probably got it). Despite North America, UK/Ireland, and Australia/New Zealand not being part of that, it might be the most common version:

100%. I keep my MacBook's USB charger in my laptop bag with a USB-C to lightning for exactly this situation.

I still charge my iPhone X more than once a day. I typically get 12 hours of use out of it, which is almost enough.

"Might"

How is it possible not including it is even an option?
It could ship with the existing 5w and USB-A to lightning cable.

That's why we have iPhones. Because our batteries don't die before the end of the day (at least not for Plus or X iPhones) like robot phones do.

I don’t care if Galaxy S9 is failing. It does not tell you anything. Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi have seen record growth as well.

Oh my the way, my Huawei Mate 10 has fantastic battery life as well. Easily last me two days without charge.

Unless you're using some hokey off branded peripherals, your mouse, keyboard, and gamepad are still USB A.

And as I said earlier, Lightning poops all over USB-C when you take durability and size into account.

Good.

But the other "growth" Android guys are hurting Android, not Apple. Apple is growing share, units, ASP, etc.

my X lasts an impressive time since the battery is new. but i still cant make it a whole day if i am using the X a lot

iPhone does not have best battery life at all. When I was with my iPhone 6S, I charge twice a day. I can wake up at 7 and by the noon, my 6S will have less than 20% battery. The battery life is so crappy, Apple has to make the stupid battery case.
