Awesome 500 this year.
Who would of thought Indy Car could ever make F1 look like a snooze fest.![]()
Ferrari need to up their game for sure. You do wonder if Charles had qualified up the front if he’d have been able to do something. But given it was Monaco, probably not.A fairly good race I thought, Hamilton demonstrated again why he’s the best on the grid I think. Ferrari are a shambles and it’s becoming the norm which is sad. Roll on the Isle of Man TT this week which makes all circuit racing look as dull as ditch water lol.
He still would have found a barrier...Ferrari need to up their game for sure. You do wonder if Charles had qualified up the front if he’d have been able to do something. But given it was Monaco, probably not.
Possibly. At least he tried. He still would have found a barrier...

I’d like to see Grosjean retire! No way he’s in contention for a Ferrari seat. So, I’m feeling confident that Vettel is retiring at the end of the season.
What are opinions as to who would be a replacement? I’m thinking the top contenders are Perez, Magnussen, Grosjean, Bottas.

I don't see Lewis in a Ferrari. I think he wants another title or two and his best bet for that (on current form) is Mercedes.I said a couple of years ago I though Vettel would retire in his early 30’s and that Ferrari would be his last team too. I think you’re right he’ll retire either this season or next as it’s clear Ferrari are in an era where they are struggling to develop the car and there is unlikely he’ll get a competitive seat elsewhere to challenge Mercedes.
Grosjean is one of those drivers where I think he’s been in F1 too long and hasn’t justified his presence IMO. Ten years on from his debut I think he’s had it good for a touch too long now.
My prediction is Hamilton will go to Ferrari in 2022 for his swan song.
Even less chance of Hulkenberg to RBR than there is in Grosjean to Ferrari IMO.I think it's a lot of smoke and mirrors.. F1 always gets a few crazy rumors every season. If true, Vettel is probably using it to sway some power back in his camp. Maybe he's getting the feeling Ferrari won't renew him and he'll do them one better by walking away sooner but cooler heads will prevail and he'll stick around. He makes way too much doing what he loves, I don't see him ending his contract before it expires.
But let's say he does retire .. the available drivers don't look very strong. I think Hulkenberg is who they would go after, but the rumors already exist of Red Bull wanting Nico to replace Gasly next season.

Its not like he needs the money!
Only when its new Mercedes contract time!I think he’ll get a couple more championships but every driver dreams of driving for Ferrari in their career and Hamilton has hinted many times.

Agreed. As you note, he certainly doesn't need the money and I don't see the "mystique" of driving for Ferrari as being a compelling reason for him to go (he was groomed by McLaren and his hero - Senna - had his glory years there and never drove for Ferrari).
True, but I cannot see RBR promoting Kvyat back into the seat and while they could promote Albon, I am not sure he'd be any better than Gasly.
Senna said he wanted to end his career at Ferrari and I think it’s on every drivers shopping list even if it’s for a season. It’s not about money but the marque and being part of the Scuderia’s history. I think if Mercedes are knocked off the perch then it’ll be a possibility. Lewis has achieved it all already and it’s just a few stats being chased now for his own sake, he’s already one of the greats. I can’t see Ferrari being consistently competitive for a few years yet, and they have a severe lack of ability in putting together a good technical and development team.Agreed.
