Hi from turn 1 fellow MacRumors! It’s been a beauty weekend in Montreal. Very cool when Seb got pole right at the end. The crowd went nuts and it seemed like he was celebrating with everyone.

Watching them live it seems like Lewis and Seb are controlling their cars much better accelerating out of turn 1 than their teammates where Bottas lost it yesterday. Charles seemed tentative and the Williams are verrrrry cautious. Cheers guys, let’s hope for a great show today!

I am a little jealous here! Enjoy the race...

So, Hamilton forces Vettel into a mistake and he in turn takes out LeClerc and Riccardo moves up to 3rd. Or Ferrari just screws up their strategy. Just so many ways to lose and they seem to explore each and every one of them. Nevertheless, I' rooting for Ferrari and I'll watch at least for a bit. Does look like a perfect day so no excuses there.

Nope.

Lewie, brake issues on the grid already, knocks himself and Seb out.

LeClerc storms off to a historic #1 victory.

I think you'll find that lightning will strike the pit stand, causing all the teams to make pit calls based on corrupt data. Except Williams, who read the situation perfectly and Kubica takes the victory.

I still firmly believe the Season is over, but here is hoping Ferrari can bring it home in front today.

And Lewis is reporting issues with his anti-stall, though the garage says he is okay.

Looking good for Ferrari with the pit stops done. Lewis had to stay out another lap due to bad traffic and that gave Seb the time he needed to deflect any undercut and keep the lead and LeClerc in third.

The late pit stop for Leclerc was bizarre. Don't understand what it achives.

Grosjean really is terrible. He had no idea Perez was there, despite Perez signposting it before the move. Then he has the nerve to demand it be reported to race control.

Get back in your box, Romain.

Well it did set him up to pass Verstappen shortly afterwards and build a nice gap to Bottas so...

Now let's see what the Stewards have to say about Vettel's track return. IMO, his car was still unstable coming back on track so I think it should not incur a penalty.

As for Haas, yeah a totally forgettable weekend. When you cannot even pass a Williams...

But he was losing time to Verstappen. If they'd have pitted him a few laps earlier then he'd have been ahead anyway.

Have to say, Haas cutting off Magnussen and telling him to get on with it is a bit odd. Grosjean spends all race every race complaining about how awful everything is and they just seem to live with it. KMag says it and is told to hush.

That’s it. Vettel will not be back next year. Tough penalty, tough call. The Officials have been hard on enforcement all weekend though. It was an unsafe return onto the track. He had the best car and drive though IMO. Once again all it took was one mistake.

Going to be tough to recover now. He will be a head case for rest of the season.

WOW! Ferrari must be scouring the rule book on different ways to lose. Kind of petty to place the change the 1st and 2nd place markers in front of the cars. Ferrari needs a clean sheet. Keep LeClerc but everyone else needs to go.

Lewis: I don't know why people are booing. I didn't make the decision.

This is true. But he did ask for it to be investigated. Lewis forgets his radio is broadcast to the world.

Brundle, Karun and Button all agree, the penalty was unfair.

Harsh for Vettel, I probably would have thrown the number one sign lol. What a gent Hamilton is though with his comments. Not a good end for anybody, especially the fans. Hey ho, that’s motor racing.

That was one extremely bad decision. Ruined complete race and most probably the rest of the season :(

In fairness I think Vettel should have conceded the place for not going to the outside and letting Lewis through, but he should have been given the instruction to do so afterwards. It’s not nice crossing the line and decisions coming later, reminds me of Spa ‘08. Got a feeling Ferrari will be letting Vettel go at the end of the year as he’s too emotional and difficult to handle for their tastes.

I do find the idea of Vettel being emotional and difficult to handle amusing. We almost had Lewis in tears on the podium, and he's even pulled the race card when penalised. If you think Vettel is emotional you'd have a heart attack if you'd seen Villenueve, Senna, Mansell, Schumacher and Alonso at their prime.

Vettel will be let go for the same reason Alonso was let go. He's moving on because relationships in Ferrari sour remarkably quickly when goals aren't achieved. Ferrari traditionally hold drivers responsible for results not coming, and anyone criticising the car is let go. Even Mansell and Prost weren't above that.
