Great win for Charles. A sad win too, also feel bad for Lando, what utter rotten luck!

Really happy with the sheer amount of respect the fans teams and drivers have shown throughout today and yesterday. They said the other driver that’s in hospital had to undergo surgery yesterday for broken legs, but he is officially stable.

Hopefully the FAA will fully investigate the incident and it’ll perhaps show where some safety changes could be made with the cars.

FIA, not FAA. FAA is American and has to do with aircraft.

Sadly, I missed this race on account of thinking the Belgian GP was set for next Sunday. Well done to LeClerc. Not sure if anyone here knows, but Verstappen, Norris and LeClerc are mates out of the track. There is or sometimes are races using PC simulators they own at their flats. There's a few YouTube videos of them taking turns during endurance events. I think this great camaraderie. Better than the egoist dick measuring contests of yesteryear.

Also, does anyone else follow Nico Roseberg's YouTube channel? A chatty feller as he always was even back in his youth, but neat behind the scenes videos since he still gets access to the pit and individual garages. Never thought I'd witness the day when I'm appreciative of a Vlogger. Feels like accepting herpes as a cure to cancer.

Damn. That’s terrible news.

It’s crazy how horrific some crashes can be, like the F2 (F3?) race last year where the car caught air and landed in the stands. Some drivers are lucky enough to walk away.

And then there’s this and the incident this week with Jesse Combs (while technically not a race car driver, she was attempting to set a land speed record)
Live every damn day like it's your last.

Unsurprisingly a low key podium.
Well done to all those involved for being respectful.
Shame that LeClerc couldn’t really celebrate his first win. But we all know it won’t be his last.
Feel for Lando. He deserved fifth today.

Sadly I don't think anything could be done to the cars to save the driver in that kind of impact. Getting broadsided while stationary at the top of Raidillon is going to put so much force through the car that no driver inside can survive, even if the car does. I doubt any car in any racing series would have saved Hubert.

However, it looks like the tire barrier bounced Hubert's car back into traffic, leading to that horrendous hit by Correa's car. Perhaps a larger runoff to keep the cars further away if they do go off or a more crushable barrier design there could reduce that chance.

Is there any room behind that existing barrier? I thought it was a steep downhill slope there, no?

Leclerc seems as impressive on a wet track as Hamilton in FP1 and 2. The Stage 4 Honda looks impressive in RBR as well. ;)

I think Ferrari may be ok in the wet on Sunday. While it’s a snooze to always have the same 2-3 teams on top I’m feeling some serious energy between Leclerc and Hamilton the remainder of the season. Hopefully we will see some great up front racing.:apple:

I gotta say only a few laps in and I’ve already concluded this is some of the worst directing I’ve seen of a sport in a llooonnggggg time!
We watched an accident and they instantly cut to the crowd!

Luckily as the race developed they concentrated better on showing the racing.

Wow, what a race. Leclerc vs Hamilton will be intense the remainder of the season. The Changing of the Guard is underway.

Kudos to Ferrari on their strategy today. Mercedes threw everything at them. Ferrari power baby. ;)

...... please fire Martin Bumble. He ruins every broadcast.

Great to see a changing of the guard every now and then. Happens in all sports.

Hmm I’d also state the penalty to LeClerc was complete amateur rubbish by the stewards! Typical ‘Protect Lewis’ attitude they continue to have.
What penalty? Did you watch a different race. All he got was a reprimand.

Wow what a race! So happy for Charles, he fully deserved that win and spanked those Mercedes :)

And please dump Martin Brundle, he really is an utter idiot trying to stir up trouble by making Wolff claim Charles should have had a penalty..

Yes!!!! Another Martin Bumble Hater. He is such a bombastic, rude, bumble-head. He is so Hamilton biased it’s nauseating. :apple:

Add me to the list, I can’t stand the bloke. Met him a couple of times too and his off screen personality is even more smug and nauseating than we see on screen.

Great race. I think if it had been anywhere else LeClerc gets a penalty if not two.
But ultimately I’m glad they didn’t rob us of the battle. Lewis just didn’t have the power on the straights.
But Vettel overtaken by LeClerc in the championship is an interesting one. Who will Ferrari back for the remainder of the season? Got to be LeClerc surly?

So you think the penalty was lenient or harsh? I’m not following you.

It was appropriate. Sure the fact that it was Monza played a role. Would you honestly expect less from 2019’s FIA? Let them race. You can bet money Hamilton will be more aggressive starting in Singapore after his dumbass comment post race “the new generation drivers are being allowed to be more aggressive than the more skilled drivers. I can see that now.” I almost wet my pants laughing so hard. Ok Lewis be more aggressive. It’s not going to extend your career. Put you in anything other that a Mercedes that past 4 seasons and your an above average driver born with a golden spoon in your mouth. The writing is on the wall. I’ve never been shy about my dislike of Hamilton and his adolescent comments after the race were no different than a Mad Max temper tantrum. :apple:
