Let’s all remember this incident next time it’s Lewis pushing someone off the track. I have a feeling opinions aren’t often driven by the driver being discussed.
I think we will all remember it and in the interest of fairness would expect no penalty. Hope you agree.

It would be very hypocritical of me to expect no penalty considering my opinion of this incident. I’d like to see Hamilton go back to his more aggressive ways though if this sort of driving is deemed acceptable by the FIA even if my a driving point of view I think it is unsporting.

So Grosjean to stay at Haas, Kubica to leave F1, and Hulkenberg still without a seat. Apparently Grosjean’s feedback has helped a lot which I suspect has made the difference after their dog of a car.

I still think Hulkenberg deserves a decent seat.

Qualy about to get underway! Hoping Verstappen can do something special to challenge Lewis but he does love this track. Valtteri 2.0 has been quiet

Edit: Leclerc gets pole! Didn’t see that coming, he’s on fire

No kidding. o_O Was not expecting Ferrari to be this good here. Leclerc is the Real Deal. The page has been turned, and the elbows will be out in force. Should be a good aggressive race.;)

Very surprising qualifying. Ferrari seem to have made a big gain.
Vettel took provisional pole, but I think that was all he had. He knows Charles is better than him. I think he’s resigned to quitting at the end of the year.
He’s not going to be happy to be a rear gunner.
Should be a good race tomorrow!

I can't wait until they go at each other fisticuffs style. You would think Vettel was Italian with how much of a diva he can be. Hammy has cooled down his utter bitchiness over the last several years.

Summation:

Ferrari first ever P1/P2 at Singapore. :)
Great mid pack racing all night.
Leclerc learns the flaws in Team Strategy. ;)
Mercedes no podium - Priceless. For everything else there is VISA.
Great drive from Max.

Addendum:
Leclerc spent more time drinking champagne than spraying. Should be fun behind closed doors later. 😉

Nice summation. Great drive from Seb too, his outlap after the pits won him the race and his restarts after the safety cars were flawless.

My own theories: Toto does not look concerned at all in the post race interview. I feel like Merc has more in the bag if they need it but I don’t think they will this season. Next race will be interesting. Merc dominates Russia so we’ll see what’s really going on.

Mercedes have made Bottas life impossible. He's basically put on a 1 year rotating contract so they can drop him if he isn't good enough. He's sitting second in the championship, only behind his team mate. He gets a chance to leap him and he's told slow down.

So what can he really do? He's not allowed to beat Lewis, even when he can. He's ahead of both Ferraris in the championship, so it doesn't really make sense to steal points from him - it just brings Ferrari closer to unseating the Mercedes 1-2 at the top of the championship.

I don't really mind team orders. Coming from endurance racing, I'm quite used to it. But in this specific case, I think it's wrong. Bottas has been put in a situation he can't really win.

In all honesty it really came down to Mercedes leaving Lewy out too long. They waited too long for a safety car then had to fall back on hoping Ferrari would have more trouble with the mid pack cars.

I was intrigued by Max being able to hold off Lewis. I think Mercedes still has engine temperature issues with this chassis. They turned the power up and he closed on Max fairly easily. Then had to turn it back down as Lewy obviously no longer had that closing power.:apple:

Agreed. Mercedes treats Bottas like s*** to protect their chosen one. I feel for him. He must be exploding inside.:apple:

As much as it stings for Bottas, he agreed to the situation he's in and he's not really complaining. He could have gave up the $10-20m for next season but instead he said yes to being #2 and Ocon went to Renault.

Well done Ferrari. Never like Singapore as a race as there isn’t that much overtaking. However quite a bit today in the midfield.

I wish they would go back to the old SC rules. The current way gives to big an advantage to the leader. Used to be better when it was a restart once you crossed the line.

Grojan should get out of F1. He’s always causing incidents.

Bottas is also inconsistent. Sure there are races where is is ahead of Lewis but it shouldn’t be a surprise that he is treated like a number 2 driver. He agreed to the situation too when he signed again. Lewis has won 4 world drivers titles with them and secured more constructors points than his team mate. He’s a good return on their investment. Bottas is good on his day but for me he’s not quite as good as Rosberg was even. If he wants number one treatment then he needs to use his machinery better or move to a team where he can build it around himself. Hamilton is simply the better driver.

I couldn’t see any team making Bottas their number one. Over the last few seasons he’s not been consistent enough. The gap between them is huge. When the Mercedes was the best car by miles, he still wasn’t always picking up second places.

Ferrari, oh Ferrari. They just left Leclerc out in the cold on this one. Can't they see that he is the future right now and Leclerc is the better driver. They just need to treat him fairly and let him and Seb actually race.

I can't believe the reasoning behind signing Grosjean. He needs to find somewhere else to try to race. Maybe demolition derby is more his style.

Yeah that article doesn't really paint the picture of what actually happened in the race. Verstappen was going to be the first of the leaders to pit and Ferrari (rightly) pitted Vettel with him at the last second. Charles and Lewis were already past the pit lane. Ferrari didn't "undercut" their own drivers, they matched the Red Bull pit stop. In hindsight, Ferrari needed to pit Leclerc before anyone - but can anyone seriously say they would have pitted the race leader before any other car?

When will F1 switch to fuel cells?

Can petrol compression ignition be more efficient than petrol FC?
