2019 iPhone Could Feature 10MP Front Camera, 10MP and 14MP Rear Lenses, No USB-C

Price was the only reason I didn't upgrade from my 7 Plus. It's the first time I'm keeping my phone for more than 2 years. If price is not lowered, I'll stay with it until it dies.

What hassle? You already have a bunch of lightning cables I’m sure. Would be more of a hassle to switch to usb c. I hope they don’t

Yup, and I had a bunch of 30-Pin cables when the iPhone 5 adopted Lightning—so what? Changes are made and we all adapt. By your logic we should never ditch Lightning, ever.

USB-C is a bad idea. The optics are terrible. Worse than removing the headphone jack. But I suppose that didn't stop them. Outside these rarefied tech circles there are no benefits of a usb c iphone and it will displease exactly everyone

See my answer above. USB-C is more versatile than Lightning. It also represents the future of all tech. Even nearly all of Apple’s other major products have adopted it. If rumors that iOS 13 will open up its capabilities on the iPP, why not also on the iPhone. But let’s just stick with an old proprietary connector indefinitely....;)

Yes, it means in the short term we all have to replace some Lighting cables—people will get over it. But it’s also more likely as every day passes that we already have some USB-C cables and going forward, as it becomes ubiquitious, we’ll need fewer of them since all of our devices would use the same cable.

I’m done carrying a bunch of different types of cables. Any new product upgrades will be using USB-C. If Apple doesn’t adopt it for iPhone in the next year or two, my next phone won’t be an iPhone.

I am tired of just camera resolution bumps every release cycle, obviously sprinkled with new/faster chip and other standard feature bumps.

If Apple was intending to stick with lightning, I can't imagine that they would've used USB on the iPad Pros. A fragmented product line is just stupid because it means more cables if you travel with an iPad and an iPhone.

I never cared less for a product or company. Apple is “meh”. I used to hang on every word of a press release. Now. Meh. Whatever. I’ve moved on to drones, IPA beer, fine bourbon and mountain biking. Most consumer tech is “meh”. Apple has seen its day in the sun. Tim f*cked up what Steve handed to him. I probably would have too. Life moves on.

There will be no USB-C. Just AS Apple removed the mini-jack, the powerconnector is next to go, in favour of wireless. After that, the sim-tray, in favour of esim.

We are not close enough yet to wireless charging in public places to get rid of the connector yet.....and I can't see them including a charging pad in the box just yet either

Is it just me?
Am I getting old?

Phones "used" to be so exciting every year.
Now it's like, a little tweak and that's it.

I think for me the problem is the software, iOS and what you can do with it.
The phones are more and more powerful than ever, even more than computers were from many years ago, and yet, we just have a fixed grid of icons, and apps that are a pain to use.

The hardware is nailed.
It's what you can "DO" with the hardware that seems to have been neglected.

Hell, make something like Samsung Dex.
Make a doc you can sit your iPhone it, so it charges and also gives you some full screen computer.

Either MacOS, or if it can't run that, start work on some big screen iOS extension.

A tiny bit better here, a tiny bit better there is just not enough to get me excited anymore :(

why does anyone care what a phone looks like?. you have to cover it with a case anyways. non flush cameras have no impact on it cus the case always goes past...

Get rid of bloody back bump first & finally.
Still dislike every day, putting iPhone on table.
how can you even own an iPhone this expensive without a case?

Put me in the minority, but I couldn’t care less about USB-C. Lightning works perfectly fine for me, and I can accept transitions, but Apple executed the lightning port so well and how it ties the consumer into their ecosystem to the iPad, AirPods, iPhone, etc. for me, I just don’t see the advantages for USB-C on the iPhone.

Not impressed with the rumours.

Camera arms race.... not that bothered.
USB-C ... wouldn’t change anything for me personally so a non event.

Not that I’m the target market. I will likely hold my XS for another year or two at least.

But if they could improve it I would suggest :

1. With their own silicon case on it’s slightly too heavy for extended one hand use. Becomes annoying. This is the regular XS , let alone the Max.

2. Battery life isn’t great.

3. No issues with Face ID but I’m sure they could have put a Touch ID sensor on the back too. Rear finger print readers worked great for me on Android.

4. Colour options were pretty limited and somewhat boring.

5. Ridiculous pricing. Thankfully I got a good trade in on my previous android phone (not from Apple!) but I wouldn’t have stumped up a grand for it.

Not sure what Apple can do to be honest.

The biggest disappointment has been AR. Like 3D tv ... just hasnt had an impact.

I'm a little concerned over durability - as others have pointed out USB C has a nasty habit of loosening significantly over time whereas lightning seems to hold up a lot better.

I'm trying to think of something that would make me drop my 7 and get this phone...

Hardware: Revive TouchID and put a decent sized battery in it for the weight. (Based on what Apple says I should get, I would need Apple to say "has 18 hours or battery life" to get more than 10.. and FaceID is @$%&)

Software: Let me have spaces between my icons and other cool stuff like Android has. I'll reward progress on the software side with a new hardware purchase.

Other than that... I can't figure out how Apple is going to pry $1200+ (let alone $900) from my wallet anytime soon.

You've been on this forum since 2011. How are you still oblivious to Apple's ethos? Apple has always favoured simplicity over customisability, because customisability results in bloat and confusing/sub-par user experience.

If you want Android features, get an Android device. Plenty of great options around these days.
