2020-2021 NFL Season Thread

That's probably good enough to get yourself a gig on ESPN. They predict the future all the time with similar accuracy.

They’re [Various sources] are saying that Pat Mahomes may not play on Sunday, [even though I think he will], that’s a lot of time yet he still can recover, even though he still is in the concussion protocol with three hurdles cleared.

I think I want to clear up that others continue to keep blaming the Browns for, was I saw the hit and it wasn’t the severity of the tackle that caused the concussion, it was the impact from the ground from the back of his head Moving forward.

To me, it looked like Mahomes was face-planted into the turf with the tackler's hand/wrist around the back of his neck. I thought I heard that he cannot play in the Divisional Championship game.

Agreed. I saw the hit and it did not look bad/dirty at all.

You heard wrongly.

Mahomes is under the NFL concussion protocol which has five stages. Someone here yesterday wrote that he had cleared three of those five stages. I did not spend time to verify this claim.

The NFL concussion protocol has no timeline. That's the point, everyone recovers from injuries at a different rate. Mahomes can play when HE is better (as evaluated by at least two physicians) not a bunch of days ticked off a calendar.

He's fortunate that both divisional championships are being played Sunday (no Saturday game) and that the AFC game is the second kickoff at his home field. That gives him more time to recover in a normal environment.

It is likely that his eligibility to play will be done on gameday.

QB Philip Rivers has announced his retirement from the NFL.
I always liked Phil, and to be an NFL quarterback, I think there has to be a decent level of skill set in both leadership and core understanding of your team chemistry. The problem I had with Phil, was how inconsistent he was throughout his career. Literally, he would have a stretch of amazing games and then to the point where he would play like he’s a rookie on day one. Some say it was injuries, some say his confidence was battered because of the different coaching elements he was under, scrutiny from the media, etc. But he really was so inconsistent, which is why a lot of teams weren’t contacting his agent for other QB avenues in the NFL.

Wow, just wow... what a fantastic game. Bummer the Packers didn't make it, but Brady... wow again. If he can make it again in two weeks, that would be better than the best Hollywood movie script.

Hopefully the Bills are going to make it now. The Chiefs are so boring, it's more exciting to watch the grass grow than them playing a game. The next week wouldn't matter, but if Brady could make it, that'd be epic.

Can’t believe Brady is going to his 10th Super Bowl. And the Buccaneers are the first team to ever play the Super Bowl in their home stadium.

Yeah, Brady was definitely amazing, even with three interceptions. And the Packers failed to capitalize when they needed to on those interceptions. Rogers I still think played a solid game and he can definitely push the ball fast down the field when he wants to. I’m just surprised they lost at Lambeau.

I never would’ve predicted the Buccaneers made it this far, but well deserved.

At this point you might want to go back to the person who told you that Mahomes couldn't play this weekend and ask them what they think about today's outcome.

Not only was his on-field performance excellent, the young man showed himself as a true leader off the field during the retarded late-game antics.

Hard to teach character...

Should be a great Super Bowl. And for the first time ever, a Super Bowl team playing on their home turf.

If I had to call it today, I would say the Chiefs repeat. But I’d be fine with either team winning.

Well, that post didn't age well.
You would have a better track record if you just picked the Vegas favorites.

You went 2-2 in the divisional round; if you simply picked the higher ranked teams you would of had a 3-1 record.

You went 0-2 in the conference round; if you simply picked the higher ranked teams you would of had a 1-1 record.

So you are 2-4 instead of 4-2.

You are decidedly qualified to be an ESPN ANAL-yst. :p

But don't stop there. You should also provide investing advice on CNBC. TV financial analysts are even bigger morons than TV sports analysts.

Hey, I went 4-2 in the Wildcard round. So overall in the playoffs I was 6-6.

Don't get me wrong. I find amateur game predictions quite entertaining.

It's the "experts" who are subject to my real ridicule. In the AAPL world they include Gene Munster, Katy Huberty and other similar professional idiots.

Yes, you did considerably better in the wildcard round since only two of the six higher seeds won their games.

So are you picking the Bucs for Super Bowl? This is the tiebreaker and your chance to prove if you are the NFL Swami.

:)

I'll take the Buccaneers for the win.
