Watched part of the Texans- Pittsburg and GreenBay- New Orleans game and noticed them piping in the simulated crowd noises. To normalize empty stadiums, make the players, the at-home viewers, or both feel better? Can the players hear it and the announcer sounds?

At least to start its 2020 season, the NFL is doing both. Those inside the stadium will hear a steady stream of fake crowd noise from the public address system, and those watching on TV will hear a different feed of fake crowd noise on the broadcast.

Feel better? I don’t think these guys need coddling. 😁 To me, watching the the first three games of the season with various teams, these teams are playing at an intensity with or without Fans, I don’t see how it would make them feel better, but creates the nostalgia of momentum after significant plays.

The NBA is doing the same thing in Orlando. Artificial fan noise Was commented by mutiple NBA league players they didn’t have a response one way or the other on their performances or impact to the team as a whole.

When has Danger Russ ever had a bad season?🤔 He doesn't gets enough credit. Even when the defense was awesome, Russel Wilson was awesome. When the defense dropped back to Earth, Wilson was still awesome.
I definitely did not say, nor imply, that Russ Wilson had a bad season. You need to remember that up until this season, Pete Carroll wanted to keep is "run then pass" philosophy in tact, and Russ followed that. And yes he has had some excellent seasons. But where did I say he had a bad season? Where?

Yes, I think the players can hear the recorded crowd noise. I don't believe they can hear the TV/radio announcers, as usual. And, there is no public address announcer without a public to address.

I've heard a public address announcer a few times... But then again that was probably for those games that have allowed a few fans in I'm not sure.

They’ve never heard the TV/radio announcers, just the public address system and sound effects. So I assume they are playing the sound effects over the PA as usual without the crowd?

^ By like two days...to Monday or Tuesday. I suspect the NFL will be facing some very aggressive feedback if they don’t take their time with implementing a well executed plan, given this is just one scenario of many to come.

So a second game has been postponed this weekend. But they are attempting to play Pats/Chiefs Monday or Tuesday.

As in...the NFL perceives they have this under control...they don’t. The cycle of postponing and delaying by a few days does nothing in terms of the potential spread amongst staff and players. [Minnesota being the prime example of this.]

The NBA did one thing right, which was playing in one stadium, no fans, and testing administered regularly.

I don't see how the NFL can go into a bubble. At least not for the regular season.

Probably Not. I just think Adam silver with the NBA did a lot of pre-planning to make it feasible. The NFL with these ‘two day delays‘ are kind of comical, but it’s also indicative why we can’t have large amount of fans in stadiums for the duration of the year.

I can see the nfl insisting that teams stay in a dedicated hotel in their home city and not live at home during the regular season and maybe bubble for the playoffs.

It would seem to be nearly impossible for one field to host more than a couple of games within the same week. Are there any 100% artificial turf fields left?
