We will all owe OP a beer when the global pandemic winds down if it pans out
If it does ship, I will probably buy a Costco membership just to support such a loving mega corporation and stock up on toilet paper for the next half decade

Highly suspect, I cannot find this item or price on costcos website, even searching under "new items" they have the i3 model listed for 950.00 no i5 version even listed.

It’s still on the site. Use search bar for “MacBook Air”
They pulled it. It’s telling me “Item 1227750 is out of stock or unavailable to order”
Found it, out of stock, probably a mistake so they pulled it.

They haven't sent me anything, the confirmation email sent yesterday says Air. It's the order on their website that now say Mac mini...
It's supposed to be shipped on Monday.
But Mac minis aren't something they sell.
I'm keeping my order for right now, there's a whole weekend to see what happens.

Processor speed has not been a good indication of performance for a while IMHO so I would not go strictly by clock speed. The 2017 MBA CPU is a few generations behind.
