Interested in what kind of things you will use it for, and what the fan noise and frequency of coming on is like!

Just typical daily use - surfing, emails, streaming, and homekit (philips hue lights), and light gaming...

What I can say is she is super fast, runs much cooler, battery life is also amazing, and myyY GOD THE SPEAKERS!

...but again my comparison is a 11" 2012 base model.

Haven't used it for more than an hour at a time, so I am not sure about the fan. And honestly, I live in NYC... chances are I will never hear that guy. 🤣

Still at processing, april7-14 estimate, i5/8/256 SG

Do you get an update email that your order has shipped when it has? I'm tired of checking

Still waiting: i5/8GB/256 - ordered day of announcement, Apr 3-10 expected delivery. At least i got a good trade-in estimate for my 2015 MB

I'm trading in a 2015 MBA as well. But only offered $210 for the trade in. Thinkin maybe selling it myself may be better.
What are you trading in?

Just ordered a base model MBA 2020 for one of my kids, to replace his / my old 2011 MBA he had been using at university. Showing April 3-10 delivery date. Would have picked one up at Costco, but I saved more using the Education discount and Apple Pay Cash. Plus, there was no rush since he’s home and doing online classes for now, and he’s been using a buddy’s old PC in the meantime. I’m excited to see the new Air. I loved my old MBA - was one of the best Apple computers I’ve ever purchased. Of course I now think the iPad Pro 12.9 may be my favorite...but that’s for another thread.

Just got mine today - base model

Runs great. Compared to my Late 2013 MBP, its almost identical in terms of screen display (albeit a bit warmer)

Keyboard is fantastic. Feels very comparable to the old amazing chiclet keys on late 2013 to early 2015 retina macbooks, a bit bigger but the travel feels similar. Trackpads feel the same, minus the haptics and size.

I really like this. Biggest upgrade for me are speakers. Performance seems to be about the same on Catalina - very smooth on both of them, less stutters on Air but I ended up setting it up as brand new. The bezels aren't that much thinner on it vs the older retinas.

First impression of the new Air is really good.

Compared to the 2016 Retina MacBook (12"), there's a huge difference. Feels like the souped up version but the computer runs so much better. I vastly prefer chiclet scissor keys to butterfly. A much more pleasant typing experience and easier on the fingers as well. Larger display and slightly louder speakers with better bass. Only thing is its not as light.

Overall, the 2020 Air is the first Apple MacBook I have been satisfied with since the early 2010's. It hits all the right points and finally, thankfully and finally the new keyboard fixes basically every qualm I previously had in terms of user experience.

I know the display is not P3 but it really doesn't matter for me, and I prefer the cooler sRGB on my laptops. Retina is till retina and the resolution is beautiful.

Hello all. I’ve only ever ordered iPhones and Watches for launch day delivery direct from Apple before. I’ve ordered a MacBook Air which is showing a delivery date of 9th - 20th April. Is anyone with experience of these things able to interpret this for me? Should I expect delivery right in the middle of this range? (I’m in the UK).

It’s a new world as far as order processing and delivery times now. It’s hard to say whether Apple will be able to manage delivery times, especially as things with the virus continue to accelerate. I just ordered a base model yesterday and they gave me a window of one to two weeks out, which isn’t bad all things considered, but I am based in the Chicago area, so different story compared to the UK.

Apple normally likes to under-promise and over-deliver on their shipping dates, but with COVID, who knows what wrenches that will throw into the works.

I ordered the base model (plus obligatory i5 upgrade) just after release. Card charged a few days ago but still processing and the delivery date says April 6th to 15th.

I forgot to add, I hope you, family and friends stay safe. Harrowing times indeed.
