I think he was being over dramatic. First F1 win for Ocon and I think Lewis either intentionally or not took away from Ocon's victory/celebration.
I understand now. Lewis was so upset he didn't win, he thought he'd deliberately ruin a fellow colleague's special day by greatly exaggerating how bad he felt and get everyone speculating on his health. Makes sense.

Haters are going to hate. Your entitled to your opinion. I’d just not make such comments about someone going to hospital and dealing with the effects of Long Covid.

And here's me thinking it was just Americans that don't understand sarcasm. Guess you haven't seen stick up for Lewis against the actual haters.

I just thought it was obvious by now I'm a fan of Lewis and wouldn't hate on him. Especially after my comments about his health yesterday.

Sorry, only just catching up, but why was it red-flagged after the opening corner incident?

Just seeing Hamilton on the grid for the restart was completely bonkers, but the result made for quite a riveting race on what is typically a pretty boring circuit. There's a lot to be said for a reverse grid. Perhaps they need to look at points for qualifying, and then reverse the grid for more points in the race?

I completely understand sarcasm. You don't know how to relate/represent it to the 'net.
Like I said above, it was pretty obvious I wasn't being serious given how I post on here and the responses I give to those who have a pop at Lewis every chance. So how anyone could come to the conclusion I'm a hater of his is beyond me.

George Russell to test in the W12 this week according to Mercedes.

Will be interesting to see Bottas after the break if he is done with F1. Team player?

I think he’s headed to the WRC for 2022.

I thought he earns his contract Sunday morning!

But given Lewis's age, Bottas's ability, I think it makes sense to get Russell in there at the earliest opportunity.

Bottas is almost like the typical goon enforcer in Hockey.

But in all honesty, Bottas is like the perfect Robin to Hamilton's Batman.

Hamilton should be lobbying MB to resign Bottas. His future potential WC's rests on it.

It's pretty clear it was just Driver Error on Bottas' part, it just happened to work out really well for both Lewis and AMG by taking out the drivers and cars that were pressuring them for the WDC and WCC, respectively.

Having spent the money to re-sign Lewis for two years, I think they will keep Bottas for at least 2022. Mercedes has full control over where Russell goes and while I expect they would like to get him into a better drive than Williams so he can better hone his skills, McLaren and Aston Martin already have their driver line-ups in place for next year.

IMO, AMG re-signs Bottas for 2022 and privately guarantees Russell the 2023 spot so he'll do "accept" another year at Williams.

Do you think Bottas wants to resign with AMG-MB? He's never going to be top dog with MB.

If he signs elsewhere, he may actually have a real shot at taking the highest spot on the podium. Alfa Romeo seems to be hot on his trail -- given they have no drivers signed beyond this year (2021)

And he stands a better chance of finishing first at Alfa than Mercedes?

Right now Bottas' only chance to win a race is in a Mercedes AMG or a Red Bull Honda. And I don't expect the 2022 rules to completely overturn the status quo in Formula One. Even with a much better Ferrari engine in 2021, neither Alfa nor Haas have been anything but crap because they don't have the money necessary to develop the car.

And let's not forget that Bottas was the alpha (#1) driver at Williams, but when AMG came calling, he jumped at the chance even though he was clearly going to be the #2 to Lewis. Better a #2 that has a decent chance of winning than a #1 that will struggle to see the points, much less the podium.

There's no alpha dog at Alpha. He could be the Alpha.
Not what I asked. You said he stands a better chance of winning a race elsewhere and threw in Alfa Romeo. He'll never have a better chance of winning a race than where he is now.

It’s his best chance to win races though. If Bottas moves to Alfa Romeo or Williams then he may never win a Grand Prix again. Sure he’s not going to be number one at Mercedes but that’s down to having a teammate that is so much better than himself and he’s never threatened to dominate at Mercedes. He does win the odd race though and some drivers go their whole careers having never done that.

Edit: just noticed the last few posts have said the same thing as me, great minds think alike lol.

The only thing is the longer they leave Russell out of the team in a rubbish car, the steeper the learning curve will be. Ultimately they want a young number 2 who will follow orders. But I’m sure Lewis is quite happy to keep Bottas. Makes him look good!

wow.

Is @Pezimak = @Bruninho ...?

I think Lewie was exhausted from the race yesterday and not any pre-existing/lingering condition.

No..... I am not some other poster? People can have the same opinions you know, hence why your posts get likes.
And either way as I said he needs to sort himself out over the summer break, he cannot drive if he's going to get dizzy and is losing concentration, it's far too dangerous. Perhaps he should eat some meat?

Mansell would like to have a word on exhaustion.

Haha true, but I do t think they had water bottles and pumps in those days in the cars? Like they do now. But it was real racing back then with many an overtake and challenge, they didn't have to worry as much about aerodynamics I think

He said he suspects he has long Covid but hasn't spoken to anyone about it so it's unfounded at present. So he needs to get himself properly tested if he genuinely has been suffering with his fitness since last year. And change what ever he needs. It's too dangerous otherwise.
Given the millions Mercedes pay him, you’d find it strange he’s not seeing a team doctor at the very least. But then I’ve no idea what the tests for long Covid are. I’ve not had short Covid (and hopefully won’t!).

We still had one or two teams dominating every season though. It was rare anybody other than McLaren or Williams were winning. The racing is real now, it’s just technology is improved. The cars are easy to drive in some respects but now they are cornering much faster and the demands are still high on the driver.

We often get hung up on the romance of an era with so many iconic names like Senna, Mansell, Prost, Piquet etc, however we have some amazing talent and champions racing in this era. It’s perhaps almost comparable in that respect as the 90’s and early 00’s were less champion heavy. We should enjoy what we are seeing now as we are very lucky.
