Don't say Lewis doesn't drive his heart out; he does. But his age is obviously catching up to him; Covid or no Covid.

Russell is pure class and a gentlemen's driver. What he told Latiffi is pure class; can't teach that stuff; either you have it or you don't.

Max on the other hand is just a pure street thug, and I say that as a fan of his. But his reputation precedes him. Just ask Schumacher today on that pass. It is what it is, I guess.

It's hard to believe that English is Tsunoda's second language. That dude swearing would make even the most drunk sailor blush.

I think Bottas' days at MB are numbered. What was he thinking on that first turn. Why let Norris cut him off like that?

I struggle to see what Max did wrong today? That bump with Schumacher was more Schumacher then Max. And Lewis is 36, Alonso is 40, Vettel is 34, if his ‘age’ is catching up to him then he’s not as fit as other drivers then, perhaps he should quit of that’s the case?

Post race interviews: thought they went in order...3rd, 2nd, 1st but they had Vettel then Lewis. It wasn't as if Lewis wasn't available. Heck, he parked his Merc on the 3rd sign at the end of the race and the other two parked their jalopies on the track and had to run/walk back to the pits. On the podiums Lewis seemed out of sorts, funny I've never seen him on the podium before when he wasn't a bit enthused of course I don't think I've seen him place 3rd. Sad that Ocon didn't get the champagne spray that he deserved by both of the other drivers for his first win. Looked like Lewis couldn't hold the magnum up. I don't know, seemed like Lewis was making everything about Lewis.

So you think he's actually fine and just attention seeking?
I think he was being over dramatic. First F1 win for Ocon and I think Lewis either intentionally or not took away from Ocon's victory/celebration. F1 first win comes only once with follow on wins, unless you're Lewis, come much less frequently. Ocon deserved all the attention. FYI, I'm not an Ocon fanboy. If anything I root for Alonso and LeClerc. Hmmm, not doing so well am I? It is what it is. Next race after the break should be interesting.

Alonso schooling Lewis how you ’actually’ race. And Lewis moaning all the way round. The beginning of today’s race was like amateur hour though with Bottas and Stroll and then several unsafe releases in the pit lane.

And Max and Perez both will need another engine at some point now thanks to crashes, which means 10 place grid penalties and Mercedes is now allowed more wind tunnel time the RB because of rule changes, because they were second… so I expect Lewis to stomp it and yet again win the year. I hope not but I can’t see how he won’t, another boring result.

Alonso didn’t ‘school’ Lewis by any stretch of the imagination. We saw two champions giving everything they had yesterday and Hungary is the second most difficult track to overtake on after Monaco. Both drivers showed their class and the reason why both are world champions. Hamilton showed how to race in his own right too as he always does. You don’t become a 7 time WDC by luck snd not having the ability to race. People have very short memories or haven’t seen enough to know.

I’m sick of all the negative comments Hamilton is getting lately and I really do question what he has to do for people to realise he is one of the best F1 drivers we have ever seen? We are so lucky to be witnessing this era with so many great drivers competing and all we see is football fan style observers taking such simplistic approaches and not understanding the sport. It’s so fickle and Lewis has had his entire career questioned over one error where he wasn’t even entirely to blame. If he wins this year I am sure it’ll be labelled as lucky with no credit given at all for his impressive driving.

The reality is we can’t judge as neither of us know or understand how Lewis was feeling. He looked exhausted and even the younger guys look like the race took its toll on them. Again, Lewis seems to get all the negativity because he’s had a successful career.

I think he was genuinely exhausted. I know many will disagree, but I don’t think the vegan diet helps him.

Personally I just avoid the results until the race highlights show. Just means my comments are a bit delayed.

I don’t always watch the highlights and yesterday listened to the race on 5Live which is also a great way to follow. I always find radio commentary is so much better than TV as they have to explain so much more. I watched the highlights last night to go over what I already knew but I didn’t mind that after such a good race. If I listen and it’s a dull race, it’s not worth watching the highlights.

Could be.

A friend of mine fell seriously ill last March while I was away on holiday with him. He had a Strep-A infection that attacked his lungs and the doctors have told him it’s a similar reaction to Covid. He is a keen runner and super fit, and has done marathons. His lungs are scarred now and he can barely run 4 and a half miles.

I’ve seen so many Facebook F1 fans criticising Lewis for admitting his fitness is suffering since he had Covid yet don’t believe it. I believe it as I know sadly from experience. It’s not the first time he’s talked about his recovery and not the first time we’ve seen him struggling after a race. Those people have short memories and a lack of empathy I think.

Nothing to do with his career, his racing wasn't impacted in the slightest, but it's a fact that Alonso made him work the hardest he has all season for a position. And he couldn't handle it by the looks of things, weather it's down to Covid or whatever, if he can't handle a bit of real work he shouldn't be racing as he could be a danger to himself and others. Especially if he's getting 'dizzy'!

No, Lewis is not the greatest F1 driver ever IMO. I watched Senna and Mansell and Hill, THEY are great F1 drivers and I don't consider Lewis to be in their class. And if he didn't act arrogant in Twitter, he wouldn't be booed. An apology to Max and the fans instead of stating he wouldn't hesitate to do the exact same thing again would go a long way.

I’m sorry but Hill was not the greatest ever. Not even in the top 10. Senna absolutely in that list. As is Schumacher, Niki Lauder, Alan Prost and of course Lewis.

He shouldn’t be racing? Why. He’s safer then a few others I could mention on the grid!

He clearly managed to do the job as he got past Fernando on track. How he felt after the race is a different subject altogether.

What evidence do you have to suggest he is a danger to others? He’s racing well and leading the world championship. Come on now, let’s have sensible discussion. This thread is always so intelligent compared to most F1 discussion forums.

Schumacher? No not by a mile, he's on the same level as Lewis. No where near the top of all time greats IMO.

because if he's getting dizzy then he shouldn't be racing, you wouldn't be allowed to drive a road car legally if you are having dizzy spells, let alone an F1 car at 180MPH over taking someone round a corner.. if he isn't fit he shouldn't be driving. I'm sure their are very strict rules about it. If your fatigued or dizzy you lose concentration, and he could end up killing himself or someone else. He needs to sort himself out.

wow.

Is @Pezimak = @Bruninho ...?

I think Lewie was exhausted from the race yesterday and not any pre-existing/lingering condition.

Definitely could use some Bangers and Mash over the summer break. 😉

My opinion on all this back and forth is even though he doesn’t admit it I think all the horrid comments directed at him since Silverstone has an effect. He says this stuff doesn’t get to him, and he doesn’t feel alone, but reality is that it does.

I think emotionally he is shot from all the attacks. Good time for the Summer Break.

Mansell would like to have a word on exhaustion.
