Just started watching but I know who won, I saw it in the news earlier. Looks like a fantastic track to drive, but maybe a boring track to race on? A game of pit stop strategies.
Never mind the awesome battle continues....

After the chaos of the practice and qualifying sessions, I was expecting carnage in the race. Turn into a pretty dull affair, although nice to see the track getting used again.

Just finished watching it and it was lovely to see ALL the HUGE crowd of Max fans cheer and clap Lewis and Botas. That's more like it. Hope it stays like that.
Seems like me Lewis loves the track too for driving, all those cool sweeping banked corners.

When you are talking about racers moaning, how can you not remember Alonso when he was at McLaren? Some of those comments were priceless!

Race was the right result for the FIA and the Dutch people. Was very surprised there were no SC or incidents. But I'd like to see Lewis and Max trade wins for the rest of the season. Bottas is so done at Mercedes. Taking the fastest lap and making Lewis have to go for it will not go down well in the drivers briefing. Do we think he cares at this point? I suspect not.

Gasly! Fourth, he's been on form this season. One to watch for the rest of the year. Such a shame Lando couldn't be up there too though.
And I remember Alonso's radios lol, some of the stuff they say when driving 🤦‍♂️

Its embarrassing! we are so slow! Its like Formula 3!

But Kimi, a man of few words always made me laugh with some of his comments. They played a montage at the end of the qualifying show yesterday.

It was a team call to pit - Bottas asked why they wanted him to box so late and they said it was "vibrations" so I guess they were worried the car might not make it to the end...

That being said, Bottas does not seem to be an effective wingman for Lewis during the race. Even though he tends to qualify better than Perez, he seems to at best just be able to mess with Max's pit strategy if Perez qualifies or starts poorly and is not in the Top 5 when Max in first or second position during the race. He doesn't seem to be able to actually race Max.

Agreed. +1

So F1’s worst kept secret is revealed, awesome stuff! Two Brits fronting the team, can’t wait!

Heard something about Mercedes engine going to Alfa-Sauber but not sure.

The head of Mercedes-Benz is part of the board of the investment company that controls the Alfa team so they are rumored to be swapping from Ferrari to Mercedes power for 2022.

Good luck to him. I’m surprised Bottas didn’t go back to Williams though.

Alfa is a mess right now, but with Mercedes power and some more investment they could become more competitive. There is also the rumor Michael Andretti is interested in buying the team.

I know Toto was not happy about Albon replacing Russell at Williams, but eventually decided not to contest it so Russel could come to AMG Mercedes.
How would anything that goes on with Albon affect Russell going to Mercedes? He's a Mercedes driver and if they want him in their car, nothing would affect that.

I can see Toto's point about not wanting a Red Bull affiliated driver in a Mercedes powered car. Sounds fair to cut ties to get an F1 drive.

True. Russel's contract with Williams was through the end of this year so he was free to go to Mercedes, regardless.

So funny. Toto was asked after the race on Sunday if this would be announced at Monza the following week, and I can't remember his exact response, but it was along the lines of 'No, not on those days' :D

I guess they decided to just get it out there given everyone knew anyway. I still wouldn't be surprised to see Lewis hang up his helmet if he wins an 8th Championship this season, but I also don't think he'll quit while he's level with Schumacher and he still has a car capable of winning it again.

From what Russell has shown so far, he's more than capable of winning some too, given the right package. The more drivers and teams in that position the better for everyone, although it would also be nice to see some wheel to wheel racing and not have these things decided by strategy or stupid regulations.

At the start of this season he signed a one-year contract, but in July agreed to a two-year extension so I expect even if he does manage to take the WDC from Max, he will want to defend it in 2022 rather than bail out at the end of the year lest folks start speculating that he couldn't feel he could defend it against Max in 2023 (ala Rossberg v Lewis after the former won the 2016 WDC and then retired thereafter).

And if he does not take it from Max this year, I expect he will want to make another go at WDC #8 in 2022.
