Ah. Apparently the FIA now have a new technical director, now the old one had it so the rules stated when a wheel nut was done up, an automatic sensor would detect that and let everyone know with a green light, the new FIA technical director decided they didn't like that, so the teams now have to go back to the old system from 6 or 7 years ago and when a wheel nut is tightened the mechanic has to press a button to indicate this.
It seems the man in Red Bull forget this and his mind went back to thinking the automatic sensor had gone off, hence the 11 second pit stop as he realised he had to press the button instead.

No wonder Hamilton is on painkillers for a headache. This is where the car rolled off the hoop! I knew it had hit his head but that’s some weight . The halo did it’s job.

It’s scary to think that in the 4 years we’ve had the halo, there have been quite a few incidents where drivers could have been seriously injured or worse.
About 650kg plus the weight of Max. Not sure if you add fuel too.
But Yeap certainly another advertisement for it! I think the most dramatic save the halo has made was Grosjean's crash last year, I'm pretty sure without that he would have been decapitated.
I saw some Indy car racing earlier and they had windscreens but you can see behind the screen is a halo the same as F1 cars.

The stewards have been appalling this year. A racing incident all day long, much like their crash at Silverstone. Takes the enjoyment out of watching wheel to wheel racing for me.

This is what you get get when you let an American Group (Liberty Media) take over your sport.

Stewards, all of them. On the payroll now. This is what Liberty wanted from the beginning. Turning F1 into a joke like NASCAR.

Max’s 3 grid penalty cements it for me. Thank god for IMSA,

To be fair we had a long period of the stewards being bad before Liberty appeared. They did seem to get better though a few years back.

Remember when guest ex drivers used to do it? You’d get a driver though that didn’t like certain current drivers and poor decisions would be made.

Hi All,

Good photo there Real-Deal!
Words cannot describe how dangerous this looks.

I reckon something has got to be done before there is a serious injury from these 2 colliding all the time:

- 51G crash for Vesp at Silverstone
- Tyre on head for Hamiliton yesterday

>> Come one, this is getting out of hand...

We all want to see actual on track racing - not a banger cars circus embarrassment.
What kind of example is this for aspiring racers? Who is most dangerous wins?!?!

My pennies worth
Martin.

...Glad Lewis was ok, and Max should have gone over to him, but all bets are off now.[//b]

...

Why? Lewis was still trying to get his car going again when Max was walking off. I think that is a pretty clear indication that the other driver is all right.

Max was along side and HAM should have given him just a bit more room.

Not how I saw it. Lewis was in front and Max being Max, just went for a gap that wasn't there hoping the other driver would just get out of the way.

I forgot that Lewis had kept his car running and was trying to back out. So, I guess I can see where Max didn’t need to check.

Would have been good a PR look though. Who knows, with today’s off the deep end Stewards, Max might not have received the asinine 3 grid penalty. Hope RBR uses this to put the new Honda in. 😏

F1 is more of a Circus every race. Looking forward to 2022 where everyone needs to learn how to walk again.

Max should also have given Danny Ric more room on the opening lap as he squeezed him onto the curbs too. He also crowded Lewis off the track at turn 3 but when it’s happening to him, he has a real problem with it. The rich kid needs to learn to respect his competitors before he rants about receiving it back IMHO.

You're not wrong.

And yes, I do agree that Max is an entitled baby.

They both are.

And, IMHO, they both are "likeable" characters in their own right.

Glad HAM wasn't hurt too seriously.

They definitely both moan but thats part of a competive sport I think. Lewis probably believes he is a god with his seven titles and Max is a very previledged lad who has perhaps always gotten what he wants.

I remember Felipe Massa did exactly the same thing to Verstappen in 2017 at T1 at Monza which resulted in Max having a front right puncture. The different was the sausage curbs were not as big that year. He should learn though that not everybody is going to get out of his way. Pyschology comes into play between these two as both seem to want to send the message that neither will yield for the other. It'll be a very scrappy championship though with too many coming's together and I doubt neither driver wants to scrape a WDC in this manner. Exciting to watch though.

It was not a good look to see Max get out of his car and walk away, without checking to see if Lewis was dead or alive. When you put your car on top of another one would think you would have some concern about the driver.

Hamilton was still trying to reverse the car onto the track when Max walked by.

I'm sure he realized he was ok because he was trying to get his car out.
