I was gutted to be honest. He’s really getting everything out of that car.
Meanwhile when it counts Bottas was left wanting. This is surely his last year at Mercedes.
Verstappen should have been on pole, he made a mess of his last lap.

There's been rumours of Verstappen & Russell going to Mercedes should Lewis retire. But it's impossible to tell which team will nail the major rule changes. So Mercedes could easily fall behind.

They could. But you’d not bet against it. RBR will face a step learning curve developing their own engine.
If I was Max and Lewis retires, I’d be really stuck about which way to go.

Yeah, I feel like that is going to be a major theme this season... "Max bottled it again..." MBIA if you will...

And that's exactly why Lewis is Lewis. He gets it nailed on when it matters... man I hate him. lol.

Perez looks like he is up to the challenge. I hope Sianz finds his center in that car and soon!

Come on Gasly!

Tsunoda starting from the pit lane or the back of the grid? I'm surprised they managed to get the car ready.

Ok.

70 + laps into the season and I'm just going to come out and say it, Mick Schumacer, Nicolas Latifi, Sergei(is that his name?) Mazepin DO NOT BELONG IN F1.

I've no idea if I've spelled anyone names correctly or not...

Let's not say this race has been boring.
Can we also say that the commentators are just a little biased? No offense to our English members on here but they literally just tried to explain Lewis back into 4th after he clearly dropped to at least 9th and almost a lap down.

With the lap times Lewis was doing, I'd have thought he'd stay out a little longer. One more lap and he'd have been first from the restart with a free set of new tyres.

Pleasantly surprised today. Great racing behind Max. Man does that RBR Honda make power. 😏 So sad they are leaving after this year.

Glad everyone was ok in all the incidents. Imola is too narrow for these cars.

Feeling slightly optimistic after today, but time will tell. 😉

Great race. But changing weather conditions plus gravel always add a bit more excitement. Tarmac run offs should be banned.
Max did really well. Lewis did a good recovery drive.
Lando is my driver of the day. Great to see him up there. Four different cars in the top four!

Bottas and Russel are not doing themselves any favours for the Mercedes seat next year. Bottas was already doing badly when Russell took him out. He must hate Imola.

Doesn't matter who's to blame, I think Bottas' time with Mercedes is slowly running out and Russell should be on a shortlist to replace him.

It wasn’t so much the crash, but the reaction I had the issue with. Bottas was still in a wrecked car when he was having a go at him. Later on he didn’t seem to calm down and cool off either.

I think George Russell needs a speaking to after that from a high level in both Williams and Mercedes. The incident was completely his fault as he had half the track available and still put his tyre on the grass. He blamed Bottas and behaved like a complete tool afterwards. Slapping a drivers helmet who has just had a heavy impact is stupid too. I like the guy and hope he is a future world champion, but he was an idiot here and needs to realise that.

Agree. He didn’t do it on purpose. It was a racing incident. But he was definitely not the victim. The reaction at the time is kind of understandable (adrenaline, heat of the moment). But having watched it back he doesn’t seem to have calmed down.

I was waiting for further action after the Helmet Slapping. George should have received “Community Service.” 😏

I was worried Bottas was seriously injured. I know he didn't feel right when they came to a stop. And his body language spoke volumes once he got out.

So it seemed to me he was beating on a wounded driver.

Gutted for my boy Charles , running second 24 seconds ahead of Lando after lewis binned it , should've been an easy podium for him without Russel binning it into the grass and then onto Bottas , didnt like the response either ,but he is feeling the pressure , I think he knows that passing Bottas with a Williams would've been amazing for his cause to replace him down the road , which is why he took the risk.
End of the day , Bottas is out of the merc seat if he keeps this form , in previous years he was much more competitive even if behind Lewis , both in qualifying and race pace.

But is Lando making a play for that seat? Right now you’d think he’d do a good job.

Definitely was not expecting such an exciting race especially at Imola. I know the rain played a big part in keeping things interesting but we'll take it!

Let's hope Max vs. Lewis goes all season. Wishful thinking - McLaren win races and become a constructors threat.

These crashes are going to be interesting now we have financial restrictions. Toto has already said the near write off yesterday will affect development of the 2022 car. These things can happen, but any driver making a habit of crashing will be out of a seat.

Time to write off Mick already?

1) He just got there.

2) He's stuck driving a Haas, while presumably, Sainz keeps the second Ferrari seat warm for him.
