One of the worst races I've seen in the past four years.
Started okay with the #2s charging, but it is pretty much a foregone conclusion Lewis will win unless he has an accident or technical / pit issue. Hence why I only pay attention to the first dozen laps and then run it in the background while I do other things.
But hey, when you put the undisputed best driver in one of the best cars with one of the best teams behind them, they're generally going to win. Verstappen is good, but not as good as Lewis, but I believe the RBR Honda is pretty much the equal of the AMG Mercedes and RBR is a championship winning team so Max can win when Lewis is off his game.
But those are the only two who can win during a "normal" race. If you want someone else on the top step of the podium, we need a large shunt that takes out both Max and Lewis.
Says a lot about someone when they purposely want drivers to crash out of a race.Agreed, I look forward to such a shunt every race.![]()

Why not wish for mistakes that cause drivers to drop back? Or bad luck in qualifying that puts them out of position? Poor attitude to wish for drivers to crash and no amount of winking will change that.Yes, it does. However, I’m really only about Lewis. No secrets. Has always been my position. F1 is a snooze fest until he retires. I enjoy Cheeseburgers, but can only take so much of the same every week.![]()

And you think F1 will drastically change just because Lewis retires? Funny.

I guess you didn't see Lewis clearly state at the driver press conference this week that he intends to stay in F1 next year.I do think F1 will change significantly in 2022. I believe Lewis will easily win his 8th Championship and leave F1 to accomplish other things on his list that he openly states he would like to spend more time on. His one year contract only reinforces this.
Only positive things can happen after watching the same team and driver win the championship every year for almost half a decade. Sundays race was once again a snooze until the first box stops, then a couple challenging passes onto the expected finish once again with two Mercedes and a RBR.
To me this is not competitive racing. I like motorsports where there is wheel to wheel racing flag to flag, from the front to the back of the circuit the entire distance. IMSA, Moto GP, and even Indy Car is more exciting than F1 in 2021. If 2022 is successful in bringing the costs down I think it will return to a sport where almost any team has a chance to win on a Sunday.
Mercedes / Hamilton week, after week, after week is simply a non competitive sport.
That's really all I have to say. Have a nice day.![]()
Big rule changes next year to designed to bring teams closer together will have a far bigger impact than any one driver.
It should at least shave off some of the edge Mercedes have. Or it could totally work against them. Will it, though?
If the cars are all similar in performance, than driver talent and team skill should be even more important. And there is no driver better on the grid than Lewis and AMG is generally pretty sharp as a team.

Agreed. I like seeing the best drivers racing each other. When Lewis does eventually retire or Mercedes decide to have a break, another driver/team will be the one to beat. Most of the teams have had a period of dominance.Imagine being Lewis Hamilton with people hoping you retire so that other drivers can win for a change? That’s ego inflating stuff right there and you know you’re the best when people are wishing that!
I don’t hate any of the drivers really and that’s what makes watching the sport fun. It must be pretty dull for those wishing for crashes and retirements. We are lucky to have this level of talent on the grid.
I agree with that.People always complained Lewis was in a Mercedes that's too far ahead of the competition. Now Max has a car pretty much on par, they'd rather see Lewis retire than see how the fare against each other.
Max could have easily been on pole the last 2 races if not for mistakes in his Q3 attempts. Fine margins will decide the title this year.
It’s always worse with your teammates. Just look at Prost and Senna if you want real rivalry!Does anyone else miss the palpable tension & static that existed when Nico Rosberg teamed with Lewis at Merc? For some reason I had flashbacks to 2016 when seeing Nico on the pre-race last weekend. Now that was a rivalry, a level to which Max v Lewis has not yet evolved.

I can't believe how much Nico praises Lewis when he's on Sky Sports, especially given how their friendship deteriorated. Feels like he's always kissing his arse!
