eh

for me yeah.

maybe i'm wrong.

I’ll agree I have not been impressed at all by Mick and Nik. For me though, I need more than two races to get a better idea about drivers especially in the worst car on the grid.

Although after only two races, really liking Tsunoda!

Tsunoda has a future, as well as Lando.

Tsunoda, Norris, Verstappen are all on my shortlist for the future. A really "short" list of talents to watch, given how bad the current f1 grid is. I could maybe add Sainz, but this is pretty much my list.

20 or 25 years ago, Mazepin would've been kicked out by his team after the second race. I remember when a certain team didn't have much patience with David Brabham, Damon Hill and Giovanna Amati back in 1992. (OK, Amati wasn't THAT good, but still). And, Yuji Ide, to be in a more recent list of F1 Rejects. Taki Inoue, Ricardo Rosset...

In contrast to todays F1, where young drivers are treated like if they were their nephews grandchildren by their teams. You just need to listen to their radio post-race to see it, when they do not perform well.

I have only two problems with Lando, the amount of jokes and lack of seriousness/focus with his work, as well as the amount of help he gets from his engineer on radio. I'd have done a Raikkonen and told to the engineer to shut up as well... here:

I think that this kind of help should be forbidden. Its up to the driver to know what to do with his machinery.

We have access to F1 drivers with modern technologies which is why you see more of their personal sides. You seem to forget the likes of Senna, Berger, Mansell, Piquet etc were all known to be jokers who played tricks on each other and the engineers within the team. Crap pay drivers have also existed since Grand Prix racing’s inception.

Difference is that they knew when to joke and when to work. Senna played jokes when he was already a world champion. Piquet pretty much the same. Mansell did it nearly all the time and look how long it took for him to win a title.

Lando spends much of his time joking, streaming on Twitch, Instagram and Twitter, instead of studying a book from McLaren with all the info about his steering wheel instructions, programs and functions, or calls with his engineers to improve the car.

I just want Lando to work harder and stop joking. At this stage of his career, this is not the right time to do it. Do it when you're already a champion or has established a reputation as a regular top 3 or top 5 driver. Otherwise his career will end up like Ricciardos career as "The Joker" instead of a "Future World Champion".

The difference with his behavior on social media is much more clear when you compare him to Hamilton, Raikkonen and Alonso on social media.

The fact is you don’t know whether Lando jokes instead of working and I can’t imagine McLaren would put up with it if they didn’t rate his results or development. I’m glad we are seeing drivers personalities rather than the sterile PR robots we used to get between 1995 and 2006. You claim certain drivers do things but the simple fact is you are guessing.

Probably because they are both British, I am rooting for Lando and George to do very well. After all, as they say, "kids are our future..."

Tsunoda seems like he has promise. Not a fan of any Schumacher...

So now we know exactly how hard someone is or isn't working? And having a personality is a bad thing?

Some people will never achieve their goals, no matter how hard they try. Nothing wrong with enjoying life, it's not like anyone is out getting wrecked and taking the ****

I don't think it am just guessing, when we can see that his engineer has to tell him on radio which buttons to press on his steering wheel to gain nearly 1 second and a half ...

We have this game but haven't played it yet...

Also they've added cars fom the '70's:

These crashes are going to be interesting now we have financial restrictions. Toto has already said the near write off yesterday will affect development of the 2022 car. These things can happen, but any driver making a habit of crashing will be out of a seat.

Ouch! That is seriously going to hurt both teams.

Really not impressed with Russell. Not the right mentality at all. Very fast driver, yes, but thats only part of the story for a future world champion.

The Crash:

1
Skill - Miss judged his ability to making the overtake stick.

2
Judgement - Miss judged the “Chance/Risk” of making the overtake stick.

3
Judgement - Miss judged the implications of a full wipe out for his team and Mercedes as a whole

I think Russell sucks and is an *******.

@Bruninho ... ? Suspended?

Why/How is @Bruninho suspended?

Probably said something he shouldn't with comments regarding the failed ESL.

I don't think we should be too hard on Russell. Everyone makes mistakes and at least he owned up to them and apologised.
Hi M,

Yes, maybe you’re right about Russell. We only ever see the media scrapes on the Internet for example, not the whole picture as it panned out.

Mind you, I do have a bit of a soft spot for Williams, during their heyday with Nigel Mansell, so this wipeout crash, affecting development for the next year is horrific.

Really not what WILLIAMS needed.

Very easy to fall down the pecking order, exponentially hard to climb back up.

Best wishes
Martin

I used to have a soft spot for Williams. But it’s not really the same now it’s been sold.
Good to see Bottas has found some pace. I really see this as his last year.

I feel like I’ve grieved for the loss of Williams now since it’s been sold and sadly it’s no longer that prestigious team with all the history without that family link. They might as well change the name and create their own history now as far as I am concerned.

You realise that the wheel button and menus are reconfigured at almost every race to be specific to that session/track.

there’s no way any driver remembers the hundred+ configurations every race and every session.

I'm pretty sure if he could respond, he'd say of course he should. Less using Twitch and more remembering endless configurations. Trouble with some people, they see something on social media or tv and think they know everything about them and what's best for them....

Don't care who wins the race today, as long as it's Lewis. 😂

F1 2021 Portuguese Grand Prix

Nice one Lewis! :)

Earned the win, not gifted.

Even got great overtakes in over Max and Valeri :)
