I watched some of the Ticketsmarter birmingham bowl (who comes up with these names?)
The past few years, both Coastal Carolina and East Carolina teams are really fun to watch, so it was a good football game. Sadly I've come down with an illness and I fell asleep watching the 2nd half so I missed a lot of the excitement.
It seems that a number of Coastal Car players skipped the bowl to prep for the draft and so while they may have been a better team, their best players were not on the field and East Carolina took full advantage.
As for players skipping the bowl games - I find it funny that the color commentators tend to come down hard on these kids saying that stuff along the lines that they need to be team minded, and put the their teammates before their own desires. I disagree with that, especially coming from those people who played in the pros made their money and are making a lot of money working for ESPN - these kids have opportunities to make a lot of money, IF they stay healthy and unless you're vying for a national championship, these bowl games have no reward, but can be high risk.
Of the games I watched already, we've seen players go down with concussions, knee injuries, and ankles injuries - this that could cost some of those players millions of dollars.
