Indeed and they're not paid enough. Many kickers are fired over missing a few FGs and yet they're the heroes when they make that final goal deciding the game.

However, when it comes to the Vikings, this always comes to mind:
They got a few things wrong though, it was the 1998 CG, played in early 1999 and they didn't play the Seahawks. But I just can't get that scene out of my head whenever the Vikings miss a FG.
You must have ESP! I was going to put up a post about the possibility of the Vikings and Seahawks meeting in the playoffs. Not sure, though, if (assuming the Hawks win the NFC West (49ers are darn good!)) the Hawks would have a high enough seed, especially if the game is in Minnesota.

People make fun of kickers, but if you are a good team, your kicker is one of the most important players.
A lot of us are old enough remember "No good...wide right" that started 4 consecutive SB loses.

People forget or don't acknowledge that the kicker is invariably the highest scoring player on the team.🤯

Yes, I remember all 4 painful endings. Great years, painful endings.

In another reality, 4 straight SBs would be the stuff of legends. If only just one win...

Those Raider/Chief games, especially from the 60's, 70's, and 80's, were something else.
Yeah but back then my RAIDERS would win a few... lol

"Wide Right". Poor Buffalo. They did what they had to do to win... except the kick...

I'd love to see a MIN vs BUF Super Bowl... then one of them would have to win.. right?

RIGHT?!?!?

:p

It would devastating to the losing team's fan base if it came down to a final second field goal and they miss. Doubly so if Vikings kick it wide left or the Bills kick it wide right.😑 Reliving the trauma. 😭😭😭

I don't know if it was mentioned in this thread, but there was a news story going around a little while ago, that the reason why Davis didn't fire McDaniel's is because he can't - he doesn't have enough cash on hand.
‘Cash Poor’ Raiders Won’t Fire Josh McDaniels Despite Shaky Start, per Report
Raiders reportedly ‘don’t have the money to fire’ Josh McDaniels

Now the raiders of course went on the offensive to dispute that claim, but I think there's some validity.

Googling Mark Davis' net worth, google reports it be around 250 to 750 million (not including the Raiders). Given that you have to put guaranteed contracts in escrow, its believable that he could be cash poor.

The Bills would find a way to tie perpetually.

It has to be the higher end. No way can you own an NFL team, worth only 250 million.

He inherited it. His father bought 10% in 1966 for $18,500. He then somehow managed to talk the other partners into giving him full control. It is his main source of wealth. There are a few teams like this still who don't have the deep pockets of billionaire owners.

And he has to pay Gruden the balance of his contract at $10M/yr.

Game of the week for me:

Green Bay-Philadelphia- SNF.

It’s basically do or die for the Packers, given they have to win the last 6 games to even be a wildcard spot at this point. Ironically, Philadelphia’s debuting a new alternate uniform known as death-black, which would be fitting if they end the Packers season. I’ve never been to a Philadelphia game, but I’ve heard it’s a rowdy stadium, and I can only imagine it will be a full house with the best team posting at 9-1, given the Packers are always unpredictable when their backs are against the wall. The biggest Takeaway for this game is, how will the Packers play-through the stifling Philadelphia defense, and how Rodgers plays with his broken thumb.

Bookie is on call!

Point spread- Eagles 27-17 G.B

I didn't see the game, as I was out, but I'm really happy to see Michigan finally beat Ohio State.
Well, Michigan won in 2021 as well. (first time since 2011) Since there weren't any games in 2020, last year broke OSU's eight game winning streak, only half of which were by less than a 10-point margin.

So I see that Deshaun Watson is going to be reinstated Monday. With them heading into today's game at 3 - 7 they're on the outside looking in regarding playoffs. I'm of the opinion that the team is set up as win now, but they're unlikely (there's still an outside chance of running the board for the remainder of the season). Next they have a fair amount of free agents and as its currently reported only 4 million in free cap space for 2023. I know its very early to talk about next season and cap space, but I bring this up, simply to show if they don't do anything this year, it will be even harder for them next as Watson's salary will be taking a larger bite out of the cap space.

Well, the Seahawks let one get away! Raiders win in OT, 40 to 34. San Francisco won their game against New Orleans, so they are in the driver's seat in the NFC West. Yuk!

To be fair, the Seahawks are playing way over their expectations.

The Seahawks are terrible and poorly coached. They’re lucky to even be 6-5.

By the way, since you’re near Seattle yourself (I believe Kent, Washington), you wouldn’t happen to know honestone33, would you? Just curious.

Green Bay-Philadelphia- SNF.
This was a really well played game by both teams, and a much higher scoring range than anticipated. Jalen Hurts, obviously is on the cusp of earning the MVP, and not many quarterbacks can pull an audible the way he can, and still rush for 150 yards. Altogether, I do think the Packers could’ve won this game with the exception of some crucial mistakes made with two INTs, and their defense just couldn’t figure out the Eagles symmetry on offense.

So being the Packers are basically out of the playoffs mathematically, I’m curious to see if Rodgers does return with his thumb injury, (aggravated again), and his new rib injury, and Jordan Love showed some potential. At this junction, I don’t see why Rodgers would keep playing the season, when he could rest his injuries, and give Jordan Love the experience, being that he had excellent poise during the last five minutes of the game in the fourth quarter.

Also, the Dolphins are another team to keep watch for. They’re playing some impressive ball, especially for an organization that really hasn’t been a threat in the NFL for quite some time.
