Wow the Bears have lost 10 straight? That’s gotta suck for their fans, but at least they got the 1 overall pick, unlike the Texans!

Here's the draft order as its stands at season end. Draft picks 19 through 31 are dependent on the winning/losing of the playoffs.

What's funny is the Texans just had to go and win the game yesterday, which knocked them out of the #1 spot. They can't even get tanking right :p

Shouldn't matter since Chicago, in theory, already has their franchise QB.

At least LA Rams got Super Bowl out of it. But Denver got hosed. I hope Russell just had a bad year. Because otherwise, Denver got stuck with an Edsel.

They would be foolish to pass on Bryce or CJ. Fields still isn't a great passer and the guy will get himself killed running for one fiddy every game.
Nah, you can't draft one of those guys. What you CAN do is trade down to 3 or 4 for a boatload of picks, if you have a specific guy you want who you think will be there.

If the opportunity exists to upgrade the position, that needs to be considered, but you have to weigh it against the time needed to get the rookie up to speed. Couple that with typically the worst teams get the highest draft picks, the coaching staff doesn't get too much leeway in turning the ship around. If they have to start over with a brand new qb, that could spell doom for the coach if he already has a a couple of years of poor performance.

I've always liked the idea of turning that #1 draft pick into a slew of lower draft picks. You use that pick basically to have the opportunity to plug in many holes. So if Fields is the solution, then trade the draft pick away to the highest bidder and use that to fill out your team

I agree, I have to think he'll be better year in 2023, but the draft capital to get him, and the contract they signed is going to hurt them for years.

He may be better, but will he beat Mahomes and the Chiefs? Doubtful. At best Denver may be a wildcard once or twice, but Wilson won’t win the AFC West or a Super Bowl.

Oh no, absolutely not. I don't think he'll ever play up to his contract. I don't see broncos being on the same plane as KC or Buff

I meant that he may play better in 2023 than he did this year. He won’t win the division or the Super Bowl. If we make the playoffs, the Broncos won’t make it past the divisional round.

I wonder if anything will happen to Quay Walker. I guess he shoved a lions medical staff member for some stupid reason. I saw the video and it really was uncalled for. Not a horrible shove but a player putting his hands on a staff member who's there to literally save your life is stupid.
I imagine he will be fined. The other thing that needs to happen is mentoring. He's a young guy and has much to learn. He was ejected from a game earlier in the season for doing about the same thing on the sidelines. I don't know if it was after a play on the opponent's side, but that's what I assume. He was very distraught as he left the field and headed up the tunnel. I think he knows he has to control himself better, and he should be given a chance to become a better person.

As it sits right now... I don't think there are many teams that can beat the Chiefs. They are pretty darn good and when Mahomes is under center. Yeah, they are that good. They were beat this year, so anything is possible, but this guy is good.

Normally, I would agree about trading down. But, as Buffalo and KC show, QB is KING. You need ane elite QB to get anywhere consistently.

Josh Allen was the 7th pick in the 2018 draft, behind Heisman winner Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. Just having the #1 pick doesn't gaurentee you a super star.

My point is you may be better off trading that #1 for a slew of draft pickts.

btw, here's a list of #1 draft picks through the years. Of the quarterbacks on this list, there's only a handful that I would consider elite.

Allen took several years to develop though. He was rather mediocre for the first few years.
Besides, the Breveland Clowns have historically have had bad luck drafting QB with the #1 round. Tim Couch. Brandon Weedon, Johnny "Football", Baker Mayfield. I think Mayfield is good QB, but suffered because Cleveland ruins QBs.

QBs taken with the #2 overall pick have fared worse than those taken #1 overall: Wilson, Trubisky, Wentz, Mariotta, RGIII, McNabb, Leaf😩. Only one good QB in that group. And the 2nd biggest bust of all time; the biggest being a #1 overall pick QB.

Can’t afford to cut him, the cap hit would absolutely crush the Broncos.

That is right... sorry about that, forgot about that little piece of his contract. Ouch for Denver. Do you think they go after a new young gun and use Wilson to help mentor him over the next few seasons?

Anyone else think Aaron Rodgers is done for good, or just done with Green Bay?

I just feel like you cannot take a QB in round 1 and 2 drafts later take another with the #1 pick, with the improvement Fields has shown. Is he the guy? We don't know yet. Are any of these guys the guy? Less of a clue. So you basically just hit reset. Much better IMO to trade down to 3 or 4 or pick one of the stud DL players available.

I think I see more busts than elites.

I'm not ready to give up on Mayfield yet. His whole career has been a coaching carousel. He needs to hold a clipboard behind someone for a couple of years and be able to come into a game and just not lose it.

If it weren't for the Monsoon the first week of the season, I think the 49ers win that game. Heck, those losses against Chicago and Denver probably lost the 49ers the 1 seed. What could have been...

22 QB's on this list and only 10 Super Bowls, and those come from 5 guys

Aikman 3
Elway 2
Peyton 2
Eli 2
Stafford 1

And at least one of his was the result of a miracle catch that probably couldn't be duplicated if they tried 1000 times.
