What other penalties? Bosa is 100% at fault for the unsportsmanlike penalty, and his immature, and stupid temper tantrum, literally changed the balance of the game. It meant a field goal could win the game instead of tie it.

From what I've read/heard (I didn't watch the game), the Refs mostly stayed out of the way and their action/inaction did not stop one team from winning.

No matter how you slice it, the Chargers collapsed, they had the game in hand, but just didn't finish the jags off.

That was sarcasm, as the play on "Chargering" and a parody film title should have indicated.

To his credit, Bosa did take responsibility for his stupidity, but it should have never gone that far…twice.

But what's worse is how Staley cleaned up after him, and picked up his helmet, like a ball boy would. A respectable coach would have made him pick up his own mess, if not the first time, but certainly after the second.

Poor San Diego fans will probably suffer through more "Chargering," lead by a coach who won't answer for his own puzzling decisions, and outright failures. He has the backing of the owners, the perpetually bumbling Spanos family, and the players, but if culture is to be considered a part of a successful team, starting from the top, expect more of the same.

Not the Coryell/Fouts/Joiner/Winslow/Muncie Chargers of old, that's for sure.

I guess one can make a case for new blood in the form of Lawrence, but for now, I'd rather see the best play, and that's Mahomes, taking on the winner of what is hopefully a Bills/Bengals slug fest.

Cinderellas can be fun, in CFB and the NCAA tourney, but the NFL is the pro sports league of pro sports leagues, and titanic clashes are what interest me more. I don't want to watch bad football, like the Chargers and Bucs gave us during the WC round, but the best of the best going at it.

And one of them was to the Colts. So there is a chance............
Speaking of the colts - what are the odds that Jeff Saturday keeps his job? I'm going to go out on a limb and say better then average.

The colts, like every other team has to pay homage to the Rooney rule, and go through the motions, but like the Broncos wanting Sean Peyton, the Colts, or rather Irsay, may have already decided on Saturday and the interviews are just following the letter of the law.

Yeah, I really don't have a dog in this fight, but if I were to root for any team its certainly will be for the Jags

As I Buffalo fan, I would root for the Jags too :)

Jags win, Bills beat Cinci - home game in Buf against the Jags...sounds good to me.

Though if the Jags manage to upset the Chiefs...do you really want to play them?

FYI - It's the greatest time zone in the US. Nothing starts too early, nothing starts too late... ;P

I agree. Wish I lived in it. But........

It's never too early for football - that's why I've always been a fan of the west coast! :)

Next week we take the first big load to the new house. In AZ.

I won't mind football starting at 10(or 11 for part of the year since AZ doesn't change its clocks), but the hard part will be having it end at 8:30 (or 9:30). I have gotten so accustomed to trying to hold my eyes open to finish the game and then going to sleep, having the games over so early will be an adjustment for sure.

The Central time zone? You've got to be kidding! Many things start too late for an old coot like me. 7PM is too late! I'll record it and try to avoid listening to a report about it the next morning before I've started watching it.

Nothing starts too early, no matter where you are. Just use your DVR. Set it, and forget it! It's easier to not learn the final score if you're planning to start watching the recording before the event concludes. Just stay off the internet!

I lived in the Mountain time zone for almost 5 years. I much preferred the scheduling of live sports events "out west", even though only an hour different.

NFL ponders taking conference championship games to neutral sites

Mike Florio of PFT is pushing this as a possibility. I don't know if there's any real evidence. I also don't like the idea of not having home field. I think the #1 seeded teams ought to be rewarded for playing so well, with the bye and home field advantage.

The #1 seed gets a week off and one fewer game to have to play to get to the Super Bowl. That's way more valuable than home field.

Right now, or at least previously, they got both.

I agree a week off is more valuable, but I would not discount the effect of home field. I mean I can think of a few scenarios where home field has a huge impact. A warm climate team from the west coast having to travel to Buffalo in the dead of winter. Playing in Seattle, Arrowhead stadium. these are locations that scenarios that the #1 seed can take advantage.

Anyone do confidence picks?

Here are mine:

1) Chiefs
2) 49'ers
3) Eagles
4) Bengals

The Chiefs at 1 were easy, the 49er's at 2 is more of "I expect the Cowboys to choke". The last 2 are toss ups which is why they are 3 & 4.
