Eagles vs... ? Too close to call in the AFC for me.

So I wonder how the Dallas Cowboys will handle the off season. Cap wise, they seem to be slightly in the red, nothing huge but they'll need to free up space if they want to sign anyone free agents. That leads me to think about Zeke Elliot. In the last three years he's only exceeded 1,000 yards once. Is average is down to 3.8 and his 2023 cap space is almost 17 million.

Looks like Tony Pollard broke his Fibula in last night's game - that's horrible. I guess he's a free agent next year, and given the surgery and recovery period this could have dire implications on him signing a good contract - not that Rbs get huge contracts anymore.

If it is just a broken fibula then it isn’t a big deal. 6-8 weeks. I broke mine and not even a cast. Just a walking boot.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it might be worse than just broken. I heard “torn”. I don’t know what that means but it sounds like ligaments which is probably much worse and a longer recovery.

I was surprised the Bengals were so convincing in their win over the Bills. Guess the championship game against the Chiefs is also not a foregone conclusion, especially with Mahomes a doubt.

I think the Bengals are gonna win. I know history doesn't mean jack when it comes to winning the next game, but Bengals have gone 3-0 against the Chiefs in the Cool Joe 2.0 era.

Mahomes limited mobility plays a big part in my thinking the Cincy wins. A major part of Patrick's magic is evading sacks and extending plays. It's almost impossible to keep a WR covered for 5 seconds. By giving his targets more time to break loose; Mahomes makes his receivers better. Not being able to evade is gonna hurt his chance of finding an open man.

Oh and Cincy players are feeling disrespected by the League. They are refunding tickets sold to the AFC Championship game in Atlanta. The League expected the Bills to win. News flash NFL, these Bengals are the Bungles of 1990's.

They had a chip on their shoulders to be sure, but I think it was also the Bills not looking good. Cincy came to play, Buff did not

Damar Hamlin seems to be the only Bill that showed up yesterday.

The ironic thing for me, as a Bills fan, is that I had Mixon and Hoggins on my fantasy team and rode them to my first victory in the same league we've been running for 20 years.

Damn you 49er's... ugh... Come on Philly, please put the hurt to that team from SF.

Pulling for Cincy also. Would like to see them make it back to the SB and win against any of the two teams that might make it from the NFC.

I don't have a horse in this race, but me just looking on outside - I'm thinking that Philly will easily handle the 49ers.

If I were to root either team, it would be for the 49ers, simply because of the QB. I know the talking heads are making it a huge deal, but you cannot deny the allure of a rags to riches type of story.

The 49'ers are going to be in a spot next year. The gave up all those draft picks for Trey Lance, but given what Purdy has done, it will be hard to take the ball away from him.

There is a report that Purdy has already been name the starting QB for next season and will start training camp as QB1.

Teams, not just SF, will ride the hot hand until it cools, so unless something catastrophic happens, like an injury, Purdy will go into camp on the top of the depth chart.

Few could argue with that, despite the draft capital they spent on Lance, and given the record number of QBs who started this season (outside of the anomalous last strike year), Lance could easily be pressed into action. Drafts are an imperfect science, and I don't think any front office has ulcers over the sunk cost of draft picks, or will trade them for the actual won/loss results. (Now might also be a good time to wave to poor Jordan Love)

Put another way, would a team rather have a Christian McCaffrey, who also came at a high cost, or a bunch of unproven rookies? Do anyone think the Rams regret the cost for Stafford in any way?

And why not Purdy? He's much more experienced than Lance, which shows, plays with poise, hasn't made too many mistakes, makes reads and improvises on a level that Jimmy G can't/is no longer able to do (post-ACL), and can only get better. His floor is already higher than Lance's, if his ceiling ultimately might not be, but that not what the team has to have here and now, while their window is open.

Sometimes, it's better to be lucky than good, and just like Jimmy G's odd coming/going/coming back, SF may have stumbled onto their franchise QB.

Either way, Jimmy G will be plying his trade elsewhere next season, and SF will be happy with two QBs on rookie contracts, all the most important since they're going to have to summon the armored truck up to re-sign Bosa, and the other defensive players who are the foundation of that team.

It's easy to hate the Cowboys, and many do, including myself, but I actually kind of feel for Jones, who has put together a model franchise, and a team that is good, but not quite good enough, with their own version of Jimmy G in Dak Prescott, who's good enough to win a lot of games, but also has a tendency to lose them with mistakes at critical times.

For all his bombast and the organization's arrogance, I'll take ten Jerry Jones over one Daniel Snyder.

And you always hate to see players get hurt, especially in a manner like Pollard. That wasn't Joe Theismann or Alex Smith bad, but still looked awfully painful.

#1 vs #2 and #1 vs #3 next week, and hopefully, they will be good games.

The Bengals should remind everyone that games have to be played on the field, not in pundits' or fans' heads, and that is why we watch (sorry about that, @Rafterman).

True... but I hate SF more than Philly, even though Philly is in the same Division as Dallas.

Cincy looked great against Buffalo in lousy weather. Buffalo, on the other hand, looked pretty flat. They just didn’t seem to be all that interested in the game.

Looks like the Pats have hired Bill O'Brien as their OC. I think by and large this is a good move. I'm not sure if there were better candidates, but his resume as an OC is excellent and not for nothing. Learning from Nick Saban for two years is also a great benefit. Unlike Belichick, Nick Saban seems to excel at lifting up, instructing and helping coaches be better coaches.

They really didn't. There was absolutely no energy from Buffalo. None. Nada. It almost felt like they had already given up and accepted the fact they were going to lose early on in the game.
