I was just thinking about something related to battery life on the iphone 6/7/8 form-factor. I just looked up the teardown on ifixit and wondered why apple didn't consider other tradeoffs in the device to improve battery life. Since this is supposedly now a budget phone and not just a small phone, does it really need a taptic engine or the wireless charging? Would that even be enough to make a difference in size for the battery? If so I would trade those two things in a heartbeat for a decent increase in the battery size.

I think the whole point behind the SE’s lower pricing is that Apple doesn’t have to spend any money redesigning the innards. They use an existing production process which already works and which has had 4 years to write off the initial investment. Just slap on a new processor and call it a day.

Maybe new SÈ will come out with a MagSafe in order to sell their portable MagSafe battery and consequently improved battery life

That would mean change in design and engineering, and would need for the phone to be to be a different size in terms of width and/or length. So, I doubt it.

Some of us truly don’t care about battery life. We don’t value it as much as you may.

Some people aren’t addicted to their phones. We don’t spend our entire day playing games or going on social media.

We fire a few text messages, make a phone call, open a few emails, and use Apple Pay. If you do that on the SE, the battery will easily last an entire day.

How about Spotify usage, two or three hours of it, will your SE2 last for the day if you added that to your daily mix?

A better SoC might use less power. And people might not be using 5G most of the time. Let's wait for reviews about battery life.

Remember... it'll be a brand new iPhone using a decent modern processor for just $399

It'll still be a hell of a phone.

But if this literal entry-level model doesn't work for you... there are upgraded models available.
Any idea if it will sport the UI chip for passive entry ( car key )?
