No doubt he thought Russell Wilson still has years left as a highly rated quarterback. IIRC, going into the 2022 season the Broncos were rated as a potential playoff contender in the AFC West.

The Bills are something like 2-4 against the Jags recently. They can't seem to beat them. Plus, Jags in London 10 days, the Bills two days. The Bills were too cheap to send them earlier than Friday and so jet lag sapped them. At least a factor. The Jags played great though, especially defensively.
Not a 49ers fan, but good golly their team has been built out last two years. If Purdy doesn’t get injured like last year that team is going to keep being dangerous. Can’t wait till they play the Eagles and Seahawks later this season.
The Broncos have become that kid in elementary school that when he came up the plate in kickball, everyone would yell “Move up, it is only Denver.”
Well the "move up..." wasn't meant to help... It means they stink and they won't kick the ball that far and they'll be an easy out...

Da Bears should improve next year as they're on track to get 2 picks in the top 10. They can trade the #1 overall pick again to gain 2 first round pick in 2025.😁
Tanking has become an art, if the nr 1 pick in the draft is worth so much. Teams will be competing to be the absolute worst, even worse than the other bad teams.
I watched the Raiders vs Parkers game, and I'm of the opinion that the Raiders are merely mediocre.......clearly they aren't as easy to beat as the Broncos
anyway, the Raiders have already beaten the Broncos once this year, although just barely
The brass might want the team to tank, but players have their pride. No way are they going to tarnish their reputation for a high draft pick.
Look at the Texans players in the final game last year. All they had to do was play well enough to not look bad, but did they? Oh, hail no. They played inspired football in a meaningless game, scored a last second TD and lost the #1 overall pick.🤷♂️

Agreed. The players who are plying aren't going to tank. But of course, that doesn't stop the team from keeping certain players off the field.

Google tells me that a 7-9 season has been good enough to make it the playoffs in the not to distant past; Seattle in 2010 and Washington in 2020
Surely a team has to be at least "mediocre" to qualify for the playoffs....yes they keep changing things, but truly "horrible" teams can't make it into the playoffs?

The problem with Purdy is, he is a game manager. No one wants to say it, they love the "Mr. Irrelevant" story, but he isn't going to win games on his own. McCaffrey and Deebo and the defense were winning games. All Purdy had to do was not make a mistake. But with McCaffrey out, Deebo out...
the 49ers game was crazy today, so many penalties, a bunch of injuries, and a close ending. Super fun to watch.
