ASU is in the playoff and South Car is out... hmmmm... I think South Car is more deserving... I believe that Notre Dame and Indiana are paper tigers...

Not so fast. ;)

I think if SMU loses to Clemson, they are out. Unless the committee moves them up a spot or 2.

I love watching ND make the playoffs, BCS, CFP etc and then get wiped in the first round proving again they don't belong. Go get in a conference and play a full B1G, SEC or even Big 12 schedule and then come back and talk.

I would boot IN for SC.

Making the postseason, and ultimately being successful, are two different things.

The former has always involved a large measure of subjectivity, based on reputation, past success and conjecture; an imperfect system.

Much less wiggle room with the latter. Does one have to attain success to prove that they "belong?"

If that's the criteria, then the #1 program this season still has a lot to prove, as the "O" on its helmets could just as easily stand for zero -- the number of championships the Ducks have won.

I don't recall where I read a recent comment, but it did bring up the argument that The (🤮) OSU was the one marquee win on their schedule this season…and they just lost to mediocre Michigan team.

Until teams like the Ducks, which always contend during the regular season, go to the postseason and stop getting walloped by SEC or (other) Big 10 teams, that question lingers.

Welp, the Horns offense crapped the bed once again against Georgia. Waste of a great defense. :(

While I'd love an at large bid, I'm not sure we deserve it. While it's not Texas' fault that their schedule was weak this season, with no big time wins, it'd be hard to be upset if we're passed over for someone else.

HOW 'BOUT THOSE DUCKS?? WOOHOO! CHAMPIONS!
Okay got banned for posting a banned books list lol true story

2 upsets yesterday!

#5 U of G upsets #2 Texas - Okay this was a close one and Georgia again was ranked lower than their opponent, as they were against the Vols, but I personally felt like they were the better team going in. Texas shot themselves in the foot though and the refs did them no favors either. Texas had two interceptions overturned by penalties. Texas also had 389 total yards of offense, compared to 277 for U of G, and 3 turnovers. Oh well. Good game despite all that nonsense.

#17 Clemson upsets #8 SMU on a field goal. Close game. Fun game to watch as well.

CFP:

No. 1 seed: Oregon Ducks

No. 2 seed: Georgia Bulldogs

No. 3 seed: Boise State Broncos

No. 4 seed: Arizona State Sun Devils

No. 5 Texas vs. No. 12 Clemson

No. 6 Penn State vs. No. 11 SMU

No. 7 Notre Dame vs. No. 10 Indiana

No. 8 Ohio State vs. No. 9 Tennessee

No 'Bama !! edited 12/09/24 SMU instead. 'Bama Strength of schedule probably should have gotten them in but they went by the letter of their own laws.

I'm rooting for The VOLS, The Sun Devils, and The Ducks in that order...

I think Oregon will win it all...

Texas also missed two field goals, one at around 40 yards and the other at 51 yards. Given that the final point difference was only 3, that had a huge impact.

Texas also had a very creative play with Arch Manning in at QB, hiking the ball through his legs directly to the running back. I can't remember ever seeing that before. They got the first down, but it wasn't enough.

I haven't paid attention, cared to watch or given a single solitary damn about college football the last 5+ years thanks in part to how utterly screwed up and unfair the BCS was.

That being said, the fact that Boise State got the third seed is absolutely nuts to me. Guess I'll have to dig out and dust off my BSU hat 😁

My picks.

First Round

Texas > Clemson

Tennessee > OSU

PSU > SMU

ND > IN (Although hoping it goes other way)

Second Round

Texas > ASU

Oregon > Tennessee

BSU > PSU (My one "out there" pick)

UGA> ND (Again proving the Irish have NO business being ranked anywhere near the Top 10)

Semis

Oregon > Texas

UGA > BSU

Final

UGA > Oregon

I'd guess this pretty much ended how we all figured it would.

I was able to watch most of the PSU game and the Texas game.

Saw enough of the OSU game, the first quarter, lol.

I had a couple of friends go up there for that game. I know they were cold ... and disappointed.

All three teams that lost are very good but just not at that level you need to be to get over the next hurdle.

The next round will be the same, and so on, until it's OU vs UGA...

Fun to watch though.

I expected Tennessee to do better.

I wouldn't count Texas out just yet. Could be UT/UGA.
Tennessee did about as good as I thought they would. They are not a great team, and this is coming from a fan. And that kind of cold weather ... lol. They were nowhere near as sharp towards the end of the season as they were in the first 7 games or so.
