Looks like Matthew Stafford is dealing with injuries and the season hasn't even started yet. The years of abuse may be catching up him. I wonder if he'll last the season and/or will he just call it a career after this season (or even during)

I’m surprised Stafford didn’t retire after last season. Dude played with cracked rips toward the end. Already got paid why keep putting your body through the grind. Same goes for Cousins and Rogers.

Same goes for Cousins and Rogers.
Different story for each of them, imo.

For Rodgers, its an ego thing, he loves being the center of attention, being on McAfee's show. He ate up all of the attention this off-season on will he or won't he sign with the steelers. He's been doing the same thing, for years. Sending out tidbits, he might retire, or leave.

I've heard differing news stories regarding the steelers in general. There defense is looking stout, but Rodgers has not looked sharp. Its only preseason and the fog of war is such that we'll not really know anything until the season starts - even then it will take a few games for us to see how teams are really good or bad.

As for Cousins, while I'm sure he was disappointed in getting benched and not traded, I think he's content to just keep collecting $1,588,235.29 game checks for holding a clipboard. His guaranteed salary drops to 10 million next year so the falcons have lots of options that wont be financially painful. Who knows another QB could go down this season and give ATL an offer they couldn't refuse for cousins.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him try to sign with another team next year.

So now we know Jerry's mindset and its all about there is no such thing as bad publicity.
‘I Stir It Up’: Jerry Jones Enrages Cowboys Fans With ‘Soap Opera’ Comment

In one sense he's not wrong, the cowboys are worth a ridiculous amount of money for a franchise that has 4 playoff wind since 2000 and their last SB was in 1996. He doesn't mind over-paying for players because of these controversies simply because its a net positive for him, he's making money. Only when the fans get tired of his shenanigans and stop buying tickets will his attitude change.

One thing is for sure, you cannot build a consistent winning team when every year there's a new controversy, and with a rookie HC, and dealing with the Micah problem, they're not laser focused heading into September.

Thoughts on Jones being tapped as the starter and Richardson benched for the colts?

Lack of stability is kryptonite for franchises and benching/rebenching of Richardson and that prospect for Jones is such that this team isn't being setup for success.

Jones' career numbers aren't that bad. He will be a serviceable QB who's good enough to keep them from getting a Top 5 pick in the 2026 draft.

Anyone planning to watch America's Team on Netflix?

The soap opera quote has caused a stir, and I've read that it is in the doc, and was repeated on the red carpet, but I still give it a chance of sounding less horrifying in context. The producers say they had a great time making the doc, and even though I root against the Cowboys, think it's probably worth watching as a football fan.

As I've said before, I don't like the team, or how JJ runs it, but do respect him for his love of the game. That's not something that can be said about many of his peers.

im looking forward to this years Raiders, im sure they'll figure out how to upset me this year

Their prospects are as good as any time in recent history. Probably better, with an experienced, winning HC, and some young stars on the roster.

In other news, I got a chuckle from Urban Meyer talking smack about Jim Haar-baw (a member of the But He's *Our* ****** Club) , and how he should face some sort of NFL penalty after leaving the mess behind he did at Michigan.

Not sure how that would work, but I also find it amusing that the guy who always has something to say about everything deflects every question about the program's shenanigans during his tenure.

Trying to cite plausible deniability would be a weak defense, and a lot is said by not saying a lot.

Very true, but we have Mark Davis as a owner we shall see i put nothing on this season, next year tho i expect to be decent

This is why professional athletes annoy me.

This isn't an anti-Cam post but it seems every time he opens his mouth there's a level of entitlement and/or delusion that is shocking, ok maybe it is an anti-Cam post

Cam Newton would probably have more money left over if he didn’t spend it on those ridiculous outfits that he use to wear to games

Vikings sign Carson Wentz, trade Sam Howell to Eagles

I'm a little surprisd by this, I didn't know Howell largely failed to impress the coaching staff, and by the same token that Carson Wentz did. He had that one year, and largely hasn't ever really show any consistency since then. Even as a backup, its a little surprising for the vikings to sign him over keeping Howell

Undrafted Shilo, lost his bid to make the NFL

Buccaneers waiving rookie safety Shilo Sanders, agents say

The news comes after Sanders was ejected from Tampa Bay's third preseason game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday night for throwing a punch.

He didn't do himself any favors by throwing a punch, while I get that tempers can flare during games he probably was already on thin ice as it stood. I'd be surprised if another team picks him up, I don't think he had shown anything that would convince a franchise to keep him on their 53 man roster. If I was a betting man, he'll head up to Canada and play for the CFL, he may find a home there.

Cam's post-career remarks have served to suggest that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, to put it kindly, even when he speaks about football, something he should be knowledgeable about.

With the season about the begin, Fox putting the screws to Google seems appropriate.

It is said that one of the TV executives purposely started the practice of structuring the carriage contract periods to end when they do, on the cusp of America's Favorite Sport reentering the stage.

The problem is that we the consumer are caught in the middle. We just got a price hike in 2025, Google will be sure to pass on the higher cost to us. That last price hike push youtubetv close to the cost of what I could get comcast for

In other news, looks like Sander's did very well in his debut, good for him. I'm not a browns or a sanders fan, but hey he's making the most of his opportunity. I do think we'll see him as a starter at some point in the regular season
Problem is that he did a slightly better than mediocre job considering he was playing against 3rd-string and players who won't even be on the team by the time the season starts. IOW, he should have done much better.

If he's even on the team, he probably will start eventually. Not because he's any good, but because the Browns have no patience for anything. They throw rookie QBs to the wolves, and if they don't perform extremely well, they move on to the next QB on the roster. NOBODY is given time to get better, or get through an injury, etc.

We will all witness the same off-season and Draft next year as we saw this year with them. They'll get rid of Flacco, Watson, Sanders, Gabriel, and anyone else they may have. They will trade for another washed-up vet, and draft one or two (likely) overrated QBs. One of them will start the season, but will be benched by the 5th game at most.

Then we'll start the cycle again, except they will have also fired the head coach by then and any QB on the roster will have to learn a whole new system that doesn't suit the players they have.

It's really quite comical, if not predictable.

Yeah, I saw one YT that made the case that with him being the QB, he was statistically helping the opponent because he was getting sacked so often.

Looks like he made the cut, and as you mentioned he will be the starter at some point, but there may be another angle. Trading him, there seems to be chatter that they'll be using him for trade bait.

Trey Lance.....remember him?

LA Chargers have him as their backup for Herbert, and I'm not aware of their having a second backup after the roster cuts.

I wonder how that's going to work out

The nfl suspended Rasheed Rice for the first 6 games. I recall that the NFL originally scheduled a hearing on this for September 30th - which caused some consternation since it allowed him to keep playing during some important games.

Now he's going to be gone for those games

You bring up a good point. He may be just good enough that the Browns sell him as a "project that will result in a future starter."

I'm just not sure they have the luxury of waiting it out for a few seasons. With Watson still soaking up so much money and being completely useless even as a backup, they really need to get someone in there, keep a stable coaching staff, and groom that QB to be a great starter.

They had the perfect candidate in Baker Mayfield, but just couldn't wait for him to work through an injury. It also didn't help that he had 3 (I believe) head coaches and 2 offensive coordinators in 2 years. We see now how that panned-out for the Browns.

They're a dumpster fire and their missteps continue to haunt them, hell even drafting Shedur was questionable at best. We'll see how things progress with them, though stability and the browns go together like oil and water

That might be the best scenario for Sanders. People say Da Bears is where QB goes to die, but I believe the Clowns is the QB destroyer. Mayfield and Watson is the strongest evidence of this. Mayfield has become an above average QB since leaving Breveland. And Watson went from a top 5 QB to a dumpster fire as soon as the landed on the roster. 8 first round worth of picks wasted on QB (Johnny Football, Weedon, Couch, Quinn and Watson's 4 pick fleecing).

So why did Flacco not succumb to the Clown's QB curse? I think it's because he's set in his ways.🤭 Joe will continue his YOLO throws no matter who he plays for.

The cowboys trade Parsons to the Packers - color me shocked. The situation was close to getting ugly, Its rumored that the packers coughed up two first round picks - that's too good to pass up for the cownoys. I really don't think he's worth two first round picks
