I did get a few glimpses and I am not sure I understand the controversy. But I didn't understand a word of it any way. I definitely did NOT appreciate Blind Melon at pregame given the needless rhetoric.
The controversy is simple. For an America-first oriented person, it goes like this: American football is American, and as an American sport, an American artist should be featured.

Really, it is a nationalist America-first vs globalist WEF world view controversey. For your average American, the SB is not political but I think that is where the controversy stems from.

I liked the half time show. I thought it was great. Of course I’d like to see PR get statehood in the Union.

What were people's thoughts on the half-time show? Better then what they were expecting, worse, didn't watch it?

As an opener GREEN DAY WAS AWESOME!

Watched the HT show just to aggravate a certain sector of our population.

I like all kinds of music, but I do not care for his. Nice touch having 5-year-old former detainee Liam Conejo Ramos involved. It was well done but still just "meh" from me.

As I stated earlier in this thread, I watch a sporting event for the sporting event and not really the halftime show.

I do enjoy a good marching band though...

Tbh, I think it was a silly controversy. For me, its more along the lines, do I like the music? Yes, I'll watch it, no, then I won't. My daughters heard of him, and so this half time show appealed to them. My only complaint is that they're choosing artists that generally don't align with the general demographic of football fans. At the end of the day, its not something I get worked up over.
THIS^^^

But what is the demo? It's literally all over the place. They've had everyone from Paul McCartney to Janet Jackson and back again.

This definitely falls under the "you can't please everybody all the time" trope.

I'm a rocker so i definitely prefer a R&R act. Springsteen, the Stones, The Who (they were incredibly sloppy IMHO), Paul McCartney were fantastic for me...

Any Country act I would hate.

Lady Ga Ga was great imho but other of her ilk I have not cared for at all.

And being Puerta Rican he is an American... so...

Okay thanks for explaining. I thought it was because it was in Spanish. Puerto Ricans are Americans though -- as Pachyderm notes.

Clearly, I am not the demo. That is all I know.

Exactly how often are you, or I, or anyone, right?

I'm told Bruno Mars was great, Janet Jackson was great, Beyonce was great... maybe? Probably? But not to me.

Again, I can work a remote and or get more to eat or drink. No skin off my nose either way.
Pink Floyd is not walking through that door. Led Zeppelin is not walking through that door. And Black Sabbath is not walking through that door. And if you expect them to walk through that door, they're going to be gray and old.

They are not Americans anyway. Where's is my remote? Sorry for this post in advance.

Yeah the reality is there are NFL fans of every possible musical genre. So there is no way to get a halftime show that everyone will like. Is Bad Bunny my “cup of tea?” No. But then I don’t watch any of the halftime shows. The last one I watched was for the College National Championship a few years back when it was Imagine Dragons.

I use it as an excuse to do “life overhead” anyway. It’s actually worse when I like the halftime show. Then when am I supposed to get more food/hit the restroom/etc., I watch the actual game, I want to see the (admittedly lame this year) commercials, so I am happy to miss the halftime show.

And I kind of get it anyway. At some point you can’t give in to bullies—no matter what side of the political isle the bully is on.

Also this ^^^

I'm honestly surprised, and incredibly proud, that the NFL didn't cave and change performers.

Seahawks defense made some awesome plays.....Maye didn't give up, Vikings should never have let Darnold go, the Rams should have kept Kupp.....lots of money made by the players on both teams, the league, and the NFL.

I forgot all about the half time show until it was over

Half time show??? Oh, the part I skipped. I rarely watch any game on TV live. The Super Bowl is the one game that I don't skip commercials, but I skip the halftime "analysis" and entertainment. The game starts at an awkward time for me, so I'm not watching paint dry waiting to start late. As far as those commercials that I didn't skip, I thought many of them were dumb. Maybe those were geared to the sense of humor of the younger generation. The ones I liked were the serious ones.

I was really disappointed in the commercials. I get up early and watch a lot of news and they were really hyping up the commercials this year. I DID miss the Coke commercial with the polar bear, but as for all the others I DID see, with the exception of the Lays Potato Chip commercial, I thought they were incredibly STUPID. Maybe I'm just getting too old to "get it?"

Yep. The commercials were ranged from meh (The Good Will Dunkin') to wut?! (that weird one definitely targeting Gen Z) It seems like most of the commercials made heavy use of AI.

The only commercial that I liked was the Toyota "superhero belt."

To be fair, even many Spanish-speakers can't understand Bad Bunny 😂 He speaks in a very thick Boricua dialect. But there's a world of music out there in other languages. I love Scottish Gaelic music, for example, even though I don't understand a word.

I liked the show, though. I don't really care about the Super Bowl much per se (except when local teams are in it), but I'm glad the Seahawks won.

De-aging or computer graphics are not AI.

I liked the Kurt Russel one, I don’t know if he was supposed to be Snake Pliskin.

I don’t care about the half time show, I usually don’t care for the artist. When I do (the Who) their performance sucked. If you can’t hit the notes, or most of them, hang it up.

I did look at this one more than others. Didn't understand a word but interesting visuals.
an American artist should be featured.
He is and the last song was just great to me. He said he loves America and named all the countries within the American continent including the United States of America. I thought that was brilliant.
it is a nationalist America-first
No, it's a tad bit more ugly to be mild so I won't get suspended again 🙂
I was really disappointed in the commercials.
Those commercials were just terrible except the ad for a tv series, "The Burbs". A noise startled the people in the house and one woman said, "I peed a little" lol.
