I highly speculate that it's personal. The selection committee is comprised mostly of journalist. BB has long had an adversarial relationship with the media, especially when they ask stupid questions.

One that sticks out is after BB stated in a press conference, TB12 will be starter upon his return from his suspension. A reporter asked if Jimmy GQ will remain the starter if he plays well.

BB responded with "Jeezus Christ"🙄. Tag 'em and bag 'em, boys. BB just buried another reporter.

I'm 99.44% certain BB's snub was personal. I'd bet your bottom dollar on that.😉

Bet that as it may, facing the press is part of his job (his #1 mantra), and dumb questions or not, actions have consequences.

As a veteran coach with decades of experience, reading the opponent, including the press room to him, is part of his skill set, no?

Halls of Fame are popularity contests, and membership is in in the hands of people with axes to grind, never played the game, etc. They should be taken for what they're worth.

BB is no dummy, and I'm sure he understands that, if he cares at all.

If what you say is true, then WHY is the Super Bowl targeting artists popular with women and younger people in general? Why not put up more Boomer bands and Yacht Rock and other stuff like they did for a while in the 2000s/2010s?

Two things - representative statistics and growth.

The data you cite is general audience. Normal NFL games pull ~15 - 20 million viewers, the Super Bowl attracts ~5 TIMES that amount. There is a TON of money spent by those people and tons of ads put out to attract as many people as possible. The demographics watching on SB Sunday differ from normal games. My wife will sit down for ONE game each year, which is not uncommon.

If you look at the growth in the demographics shown here (SB Viewership Breakdown), it says that the 'top 10' increases in viewership are basically all women or young people 12 - 24. So while they still don't dominate viewership - they are the FUTURE. Older folks (especially MEN) are STAGNANT. Which again is why they are going international. They know things are stagnating locally.

Moar money!

Have to wonder at what point it becomes unsustainable, not just for the NFL, but all sports entertainment.

Personally, I'm at a point where it wouldn't take much to leave it all behind, well before the TV networks do.

Looks like Matthew Strafford won the MVP - good for him. One could argue, that given his age, this will probably be his last opportunity to win the MVP, where as Maye is a young buck.

Comparing Maye and Strafford, the numbers were extremely close, Maye had some better stats in one or two categories, and Strafford was the leader in others.

Tbh, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy - happy to see him win this. I guess he mentioned that he'll be playing in 26, so the Rams are happy about that.

Sadly, with all due respect to Matthew Strafford, it appears that that the NFL is unwilling to award any New England Patriot recognition this year. I guess they will just have to win it.

Not everything is a conspiracy or anti-Patriots bias. I get that you’re a huge Patriots fan, but Stafford is absolutely deserving of the award. Him winning doesn’t mean people are hating on Maye or the Patriots.

Drake Maye has had a real turnaround from last year, and nothing about that should be diminished. Not winning MVP isn’t evidence of anti-Patriots tendencies—it’s simply a case of Stafford earning the award.

Not taking anything away from Strattford. I was actually half jesting. Half ... 😃😃😃

His 38th birthday is right around now, and that's definitely getting old for a QB. He was really playing extremely well in mid season.

The Rams did enough this year to make him think they can have another shot at the super bowl next season, so I'd be surprised if he didn't play another year......that said, the Rams will need a new QB soon (and they don't have one waiting on the sidelines)

I truely think if he didn't win the MVP, he would have walked away, but getting that accolade was enough to push him back to playing.

The man has given up his body for the game, and while he's only 38, I'd say he's probably worse for wear at 38 then some other QBs who didn't sacrifice their body

The shoe finally dropped in Cleveland - Jim Schwartz has resigned. Unless the front office made special accommodations for Schwartz, they still own the rights to him as a defensive coordinator.

I think he would have returned anyway...MVP is nice, but what QB wouldn't want a chance to win a 2nd super bowl if the opportunity might be there. Plus what 38 year old wouldn't want to bank a few million more before having to find something else to do. So I think he'd have been motivated to return.

If the Rams season 2025 hadn't been so successful, maybe he would have retired.

Very close vote for MVP:

Matthew Stafford: 24
Drake Maye: 23
Josh Allen: 2
Justin Herbert: 1
MVP is a BS award. The only defender to ever get the MVP was the original LT, Lawrence Taylor. Every MVP has been either a QB, RB or WR. Myles Garrett was the best football player last year, bar none. That he got zero MVP shows the bias built into the award. He was the only player to be unanimously voted #1 in any category.

Since 2007, MVP means the best QB and OPOY means best WR or RB.😐

Garrett was so “valuable” to the Cleveland Browns that his team would have finished last in the division without him.

What?

At this late stage, he may have to sit out even if Cleveland doesn't force him to be on "gardening leave" for a year.

Maxx Crosby addressed the rumors that he wants out from the Raiders, but in a non-denial denial sort of fashion.

And that doesn't mean he can't change his mind, but any decision before he sees what Kubiak will bring is premature.

Awards are…awards. Voters can vote however they want, any may not even understand the rules at all, even if they aren't poorly defined originally.

The Bills CB who technically died on the field and played again the next season didn't win the "comeback" award. Coming back from the dead is quite the feat, on a whole, but not in the NFL scheme. A player who may have basically sucked, and not had any sort of injury to overcome can also win it.

I caught a glimpse of the dog and pony show. No "deflategate" controversies in that crowd of WAGs. Quite the opposite for some of them 😉

Can't argue against any of the HoF class. Heck, one of them even collected three rings playing for the Patriots, so the vast conspiracy against NE obviously wasn't completely successful. 🙄

WHo won the comeback award?

Oh no question, I'll probably end up on Fox, espn, or NBC for a year and then come back
Jim Schwartz - After he nearly got in a fight with Jim Harbaugh I've never cared for this dude.

Is he a pretty good DC? Maybe Crosby would chill if the RAIDERS brought him in?

Over the years I've tuned into the Superbowl a bit. The last few years haven't interested me since it was the Chiefs, or Teams I haven't cared for. At the very least this year the Chiefs aren't around. Of any of the teams, I root for the Bills. Now I'm not a big fan of the sport or anything, I'll tune into it once in a great while. I don't have any knowledge of any of the players, etc, as I don't go that deep into it.

This year I really don't care for any of the teams, but if I had to pick, it would probably be the Seahawks. I know the Patriots had a lot of wins years ago.

This will probably come down to which still unproven quarterback can keep it together and not collapse under the pressure. They both can be turnover machines so hard to say who to put money on.
