Oliver Oakes out as Team Principle at Alpine with Briatore assuming the helm.

Not going to jump to conclusions but, I reckon Colapinto will crash, leading to a well timed safety car and Gasly will win the next race. Lando will go on to win the championship from Oscar and in 2038 Oscar will rinse all his wealth suing the FIA for his missed championship.

Colapinto replacing Doohan is now official.

So now that it is official this swap is taking place, I read an interesting post on another forum that itself drew from multiple Reddit threads that implies that Colapinto's contract will be a short-term confirmed deal like Doohan's was.

The speculation is that Briatore is making deals with various driver's sponsors to secure said driver with a race seat for a limited period and then once that time period is up, he invokes a "performance clause" to kick them to the curb and sign the next driver. In addition to Colapinto's sponsors, Briatore is said to also be having talks with the sponsors of Reserve Driver Paul Aron and those of "legacy" drivers like Mick Schumacher (who drives for Alpine in WEC) and Zhou Guanyu.

I can't stand Flavio.

The sport is dead, it cannot survive, that is pure and simple, it is a dead end, a technology dinosaur.. We can enjoy the coast to the finish, but the sport from a technology more so aerodynamic point is over.. "Dirty air" "ground force" "winglets" are aerodynamic words..

F1 is basically aviation inverted, planes upside down, if you want to go fast, the plane has to "look" a certain way, by design... Physics determines the result..

So basically Flav is turning Alpine into a pay driver scheme like Toro Rosso/Minardi because the teams finances are in that much of a mess. Oliver Oakes resigned due to his authority over driver selection being cast aside in favour of Flav's consultancy role making those decisions instead, allegedly. Hw won't be out of work long with his experience though.

There are rumours surfacing that Red Bull are in the process of forcing Horner out of the team too, so we could have two ex team principles on the market very soon. As much as I really dislike Horner as a person, he's a very good TP and instrumental in making Red Bull what it is today. If Red Bull are not careful, they could be in danger of turning themselves into a 2010 onwards Ferrari where all the good people either leave or are forced out, and they simply slip down the field.

MBS wants to remove Cost Caps in F1. He will present a proposal. 😂😂😂
Hopefully MBS and his days as the President are numbered though. There must be talks within the FIA that even their public image is yet again tainted by his authoritarian approach to management.

I would fully get behind Carlos Sainz Sr taking the role.

meh

I can do without Flav.

The sport if you can call it that, yeah, it needs a lot of spice to turn up the heat, after all this is a US brand, for the US audience, who are fed a steady diet of dull sports, and events, that WWE/WWF.. NASCAR, indycar, baseball, basketball..

So having a rebel is good for the brand.. So as much as folks maybe don't agree with what he did in the past, it is what we watch for 24 weeks a year.. there are enough weeks without.. and maybe the meal is better with a bit of strong spice..

I believe Carlos Sr. has a small, yet genuine shot at this. MBS has allot of wealth to exert pressure with. I'll stay mildly optimistic...........

Against oil, unless he has a huge backing from some other essential product, I doubt that the oil men will want some random dude from a pretty unimportant to them part of the rock.. The Arab influence is going to be huge..

Our president is a former reality star and he did rassle one time...

Oh, well the news about cost caps.. I said it really was about creative accounting, all teams will abuse the cap, and find creative ways to hide overspend.. It ruined the sport, if you are poor, you don't race, F1 should be about the drivers, driving the car without aids.. The cost cap should be irrelevant, and well as we approach the delta wing physics end of F1, the sport cannot survive....

All the cost cap did is delay the end of the development of the car by a very short period.. It will not matter which constructor wins the title, as all the cars will be aerodynamically clones.. So why not just have from 2030, F2+ instead of F1, same aero package, no batteries, just pure donkeys pedalling really fast, or slow if you are from Italy.. it runs on standard pump gas.. Manual gear changing..

At least this will be about the best meat in the seat doing what they are paid to do.. 12 teams, 36 cars, 24 races, 3 championships, Driver, Constructor, Sprint [non competing drivers only, aka subs and seat warmers only..Bottas etc]

Maybe this will help.. Reduce the F2/F3 to 1 race per, the extra "race" dropped will be used for Sprint FP.. Sunday will see 4 races F3/F2/F1 Sprint, F1... Depending on venue, F2/F3 maybe race 12/15 venues, Same for F1 Sprint.. 10 venues..

Regarding Oliver Oakes' resignation from Alpine, it came a handful of days after his brother William was arrested at Silverstone Park for "transfer of stolen property". William is a director of the Hitech Grand Prix team (as was Oliver before being picked to become TP at Alpine). While not currently under investigation, Oliver left for Dubai from Miami and Dubai has a pretty weak extradition treaty with the UK...

I keep seeing lots of further rumours suggesting Horner is stepping down as team principle at Red Bull after Imola. Franz Tost being a rumoured replacement due to his experience with Toro Rosso and whatever else they've been called in recent years. I had thought he'd retired to be honest.

If true, I think its an incredible gamble by Red Bull to replace a guy who has been instrumental in their success and evolution. There was once a time when Ferrari didn't think they needed Todt, Brawn, Byrne, Stepney, Iley, Simon etc.

The summer break is going to be insane.

They should swap him with the reserve team principal. See how he likes it!

Will he end up somewhere else?

Could he go to Ferrari at some point?

Aston Martin?

Been seeing the same. Makes me think they really are panicking now in trying to ensure Max does not jump ship.
