Stroll in the wall on Lap 2.
Lando much stronger than FP1 with Piastri continuing to trail him by a fair bit. Max fell to 9th, complaining about the back end hopping around.
AMG enjoying the cooler ambient and track temperatures.
Williams still looking good, overall.

Ok, I get that this track is not used all that often, and that it takes 3 sessions to get the track ready, so why in the wisdom of all the ages, is there only a silly W race and the F1, when really this should be F1 F2 F3 W academy...On show running and getting the track all clean and race ready? But no, the PHD's at FIA determined that parking lots make race tracks great, Monaco is a better venue...Not sure how they figured that one out..

I know I'm going to get shouted down on this but I'm beginning to think Stroll isn't that good of a driver... just me?

Makes me question the standards of a super licence, I had to think very hard about not calling it a stupid licence, but then we have so many questionable drivers that maybe a reset of the licence should be considered urgently..

Herbert 2.0. Just can’t make this stuff up.😂

Paul di Resta just had a wonderful save in the LeMons race, avoiding a slower car, took a trip in the kitty litter, hit the wall, the car was not badly damaged, made it back to the pits, staying on the lead lap..

Yuki Tsunoda picked up a 10-place grid penalty for passing Oscar Piastri under the Red Flag.

I'll be honest, as we go into qualifying I am more inclined to pick three teams than three drivers... :D

Lance is not the first driver to get a seat due to having money, but the only reason he was still in F1 after two years was because his father bought a team.

Qualifying

Monster lap by Russell for pole.
Piastri waited for qualifying to finally find pace, but it worked.
Norris with the usual bottle.
LeClerc was on a purple lap, but caught dirty air behind Hadjar which ruined his lap.
As for Hadjar, he will be receiving a three-place grid penalty for impeding Sainz in Q2 so he will drop from P9 to P12.

Blistering Pole Lap for George. Well done. Somewhat of a muted display of emotion from Toto on the radio. Interesting….

Crofty and Bumble the last 3 min of Q3 😂. One would think Lando was the only car on the track. Such an objective bunch these Sky Guy’s…..

Max and George into Turn 1 tomorrow……

I know I am a day late and a $ short, but watching the build up to Q, some muppet is rabbiting on about that F1 farce movie, and in the B roll, you see there is a pit stop, "in the rain", and Apple being Apple Inc, Incredibly stinge with the $$, they used a $0.99 spray bottle in front of the camera to simulate rain... Truly awful effect.. Cannot even do it properly.. for a stupid movie.. Apple do better.. Spend at least a buck and a 1/4 on effects...

Great lap from George. Max also insuring that McLaren don’t have if all their own way.
Lando had a bit of a shocker and again will be in damage limitation mode against Oscar yet again.

McLaren ran Q3 on the slower soft tires though so should have extra mediums left for the race. I hold Oscar as favorite for the race despite only being in third.

Because George and Max will take each other out at turn one? 😝

I agree Oscar has a good chance with fresh rubber. But I think it might be Max’s day. Personally I’d like to see George get the win.

I agree. I see it as Oscar’s race/WDC to loose.

P1 has the inside line in Montreal. Unless George has a horrid start I don’t see Max getting around the outside. I think it will be interesting to see how Max responds to the goading from others. I don’t think he would mind sitting home for a weekend.

It will probably depend on what is in his contract.

Can't say I am dissatisfied with that Top 10, but Andrea Stella needs to be caned for an absolute disgrace of a strategy call in letting Piastri and Norris fight over 4th instead of work together to get one of them to 3rd.

Congratulations to George. Great drive. 👍🏼

Max getting it done, again……..

Congratulations to Kimi. 3rd youngest podium finish of all time. I’ll repeat, “Watch this Space.”

Great racing between Oscar and Lando for a little while….. McLaren using Ferrari Karma.

On to Austria.

Not a bad race. Worth staying up until 12 for the highlights.
Mercedes did a great job. Both drivers.
Max did his usual maximising what he could get out of that car.

George’s obviously shenanigans under the SC was a little disappointing. Trying to get a point for Max’s license maybe?

McLaren knew this day was coming. Well done Lando for owning his mistake. Many other drivers would have blamed their teammate immediately. But I also think Lando had the pace and had to go for it. I think if he’d got a clean pass done he might have got third.

With every passing race, the writing on the wall becomes more apparent.

And if it isn't obvious, the principals will tell you afterward in in the press conference.

Max always does. So does Lando. Oscar says a lot without saying much.
