Hearing rumors that Apple may announce they have secured the streaming rights for Formula One at COTA this weekend. Price is said to be around USD 140 million per year (roughly a 50% premium over ESPN's current rate).

One sticking point is Apple wants F1TV to be unavailable in the US. I expect part of this is competition, but I am also hoping it is because Apple plans to significantly improve the experience. I can't see them paying that price just for carrying the F1TV feed like ESPN currently carries SKY One's.

And Mercedes finally re-signed George Russell and Kimi Antonelli. Terms have not yet been revealed, but it is believed to be a 1+1 for George and both parties have the right to end after 2026 if a better option appears for either.
Kimi is believed to be on a rolling one-year contract.

If it was a pay per view here, and Apple was the slicers and dicers of the tv cameras, and supplied the commentary, it might be worth spending a $1 on the stream, the crew cutting the world feed are hopeless, not sure, doing it by smell-o-vision or via lottery... F1 is not very good at broadcasting F1... Get the crew that cut Ryder Cup.. They know how to cut tv sports...

Not feeling anything positive about this. Apple’s coverage in other sports has been lack luster at best IMO.

I am not sure Apple could make it worse, it is already in the sewage system now, the quality is pretty much dead, to the point the crew have to show something, so WAGS, girlfriends, Z class celebs.. Anything but the racing.. Half expect to see interviews mid race of the WAGS... Discussions with pit crew mid pit..

Man, McLaren just keeps digging themselves into a deeper hole with the "Papaya Rules". Lando has stated he was held "accountable" for his incident with Max and Oscar at Singapore and that there would be "repercussions" for the remainder of the season. So now all the pundits are wondering if this means Lando could be penalized by the team if he puts his elbows out again and does this now mean Oscar has the WDC momentum because of it.

And then there is Max putting the cat amongst the pigeons noting that "absolutely McLaren favors Lando" during the Thursday USGP press conference. :D

Apple TV will stream F1 in the US starting next year. Sounds like at least to start, Apple TV will be carrying the F1TV Premium feed (so instead of subscribing to F1TV, you subscribe to Apple TV) and some events will be made available for free.

Yup. Good news for F1TV. Let’s see how long it lasts. I was expecting more than $750 million.

$150 million a year tracks with what I had read was Apple's bid, which is 50% more than what ESPN had been paying.

On the plus side, as an Apple TV subscriber I will no longer need to also subscribe to F1TV Premium, so that is $130 a year saved.

Caught up on the last 4 races, really good battle I have to say. Surprised Lando and Oscar haven't taken each other out again yet lol. But congrats to McLaren winning the Constructors again.

And on the Apple TV F1 thing.. I wonder if I can use my VPN to watch it on my Apple TV like I do with the F1 app? Will give it a go next year here in the UK. But kudos to our American friends getting it. I would MUCH rather use that or the F1 app then Sky that's for sure, technically I am not meant to be using the F1 app due to Sky's dominance and monopoly on F1 broadcasting in the UK.

Maybe he will now suffer all the slow pit stops. ;)

AKA how teams do team orders without being obvious.

Verstappen winning the drivers title would be just the perfect prize for the stupid McLaren management.
