And Max moves on step closer to a fifth WDC. But then, with the RB21 now the equal (if not better) than the MCL39, not surprising he is dominating again considering he is leagues beyond both Lando and Oscar in skill level.

McLaren listening to the theme music from Jaws on their flights home……

I’m looking forward to the day all the details surrounding Horners firing are known. Certainly makes me wonder how they changed the car so quickly once he left the building……..

I am hoping for a Verstappen drivers championship win. Not because I support him or his team, but McLaren needs to feel the pain of that.

Stayed up late to watch the highlights and now can’t get to sleep!

So great drive from Charles to keep Lando at bay for so long on those ageing softs. Max owes him a drink!

Lewis did alright as well. Good to see Ferrari trying different strategies with their drivers.

So the silly sprint does what it always does. Just gives the driver with the best package 33 points over the weekend instead of 25.

RBR seem to have found the edge in qualifying since Christian left and if you put Max on pole he will more often than not convert.

Oscar seems like he has lost his mojo. Just not got the love of his team.
Lando struggled to get P2 which was crucial.

At least the last 5 races will be fun.

Not sure who the hero was, but that strategy of LeClerc was just brilliant, Zak thought he had the better cart, and to be honest Piastry wouldn't have done any better driving an Ox Wagon.. But Charles with his "wrong" tyres, wow..

33 points at what risk? There is no value for the sprint, if it comes with a grid enhancement, or some other tangible Sunday Race perk, then maybe, but to risk Sunday PM for a stupid Saturday farce, why do it? It is a mockery of sport.. Sure it is what the juniors do in F2 to F99.. but for the men, " the best in the world.." to do sprints is basic mockery, shameful and the risk v the reward, 8 points, stupid to play those childish games in F1...

Again the sprint was mostly a procession, devoid of any real racing, the Sunday GP ruined because MacLaren did not have the data it would have had from the race or shock a 2nd free practice.. That I think is the problem.. A Sunday warm up for 60 minutes.. Cars should be out of parc ferme, so they can be set for Sunday GP conditions..

But then the FIA employ only the brightest of the low wattage brigade.. Very dim.. Their mom's so proud that their sons/daughter can create such a stupid formula!!!

Pressure is on at McLaren and Max is now a very realistic danger. Lando appears to be the most confident all of a sudden and Oscar looks frustrated for the second race in a row, but they are taking points off each other. I don't want McLaren to back a driver as neither deserve that, but I also have a feeling now that Max is going to employ his experience of consistency and be potentially stealing this championship at the end. Hats off to him if he does.

We have a championship fight for the first time in years! Lets enjoy.

In a season that really is a dead season, end of this era of car, the end of a long tired useless formula, and still there is reason to love F1... Not sure how they got it right, maybe the primary school lets all get a prize point for fastest in race should have been retained.. It would be almost worth in points, a 25th race..An extra 24 points.. a pity...

The new front flexi-wing introduced at the Dutch Grand Prix has been a significant performance booster for the RB21. Max is using it to consistently take pole and win races and while it is not helping Yuki so much in qualifying, it is improving his races.

I imagine that wing has been in the making for awhile, so it probably would have arrived even if Christian was still in charge, but I still firmly believe the "new management" running the team is having a major benefit, as well. Max and Yuki are now both being listened to in the garage and I expect the technical team back at Milton Keynes now has a stronger voice in race setup. Notice now that Red Bull no longer starts FP1 on Friday with no idea on how to setup the car and it was not until FP3 on Saturday after an all-nighter in the simulator that they are able to dial in a decent qualifying and race setup. Now, the car is quick right off the bat and it just gets quicker through the weekend.

I agree with that. I believe 6 revisions to the front wing since the introduction as well?

An interesting article about Red Bull trying to get Lando penalised at the weekend which is amusing, but also quite dirty and underhand lol.

Practically let off however....

Reminds me a bit of the 2.5L V6 class 1 touring cars where some teams were putting little transmitters around the track which made cooling ducts on their cars open and close when needed.

And I believe the Opel Calibra cars did a lot of this stuff by GPS which was awesome until someone spun the car - then it got confused and it took a certain time to settle down again.

Watching them at Hockenheim you could see the cooling flaps opening under braking and then closing when needed (eg 300km/h on the straights). Impressive stuff, they had tech even F1 didn’t have. Some of them (like the Mercedes C-Class class 1 ITC) even had automatic sliding ballast system for better weight distribution at all times. Crazy stuff.

Surprising nobody, James Doohan has been written out of getting a drive with Alpine for the remainder of this year and he is not being considered for a seat for 2026. If they do not re-sign Colapinto (which I believe they will), they will take Paul Aron.

Personally, I'd like to see him in Alpine's WEC team, but not sure they have the room. So maybe it is time to head over to the US and give IndyCar a spin.

And now it sounds like Red Bull will not decide on their 2026 line-up for Red Bull and Racing Bulls during the Mexican Grand Prix as originally planned, pushing it to later in the year (and possibly post-season) as they now focus on trying to get Max his fifth WDC.

While Laurent Mekies has said that Yuki's performance is "still not good enough" after Austin, Marko Helmut has said that Yuki will have a seat in 2026, though this end up being Yuki being returned to Racing Bulls with Isak Hadjar promoted to the main team. Liam Lawson's position is also looking stronger at Racing Bulls with his recent performances.

Then again, Red Bull may decide that leaving Yuki at Red Bull and Isak and Liam at Racing Bulls might be the safer bet since both teams will have a new powerplant and new chassis and shuffling drivers around would be one more variable they have to deal with.

Red Bull Academy also announced that F2 driver Pepe Marti will be heading to Formula E next year. Marti was one of the Academy's top stars so his leaving might have taken some pressure off what to do with the three current F1 drivers.

If Yuki were to stay at Red Bull or Racing Bulls do you think he continues to receive Honda sponsorship given the new RBRPT? I haven’t seen anything about Yuki being released as a Honda Driver?

I have heard that Honda is interested in continuing to personally sponsor Yuki at Red Bull or Racing Bulls, though reports say they would prefer he come to Aston Martin as reserve driver to replace the departing Felipe Drugovich.

What exactly is Yuki's role in the team, other than to cause damage, cost points, titles, waste a salary.. Cause stress and lost sleep for the engineers.. If RBR are smart, they would have hired Toto's lap dog for the last year.. Given how Bottas hates team mates, at least Bottas sort of keeps it uncrashed...

What was Sergio's role if not the same? Or Lawson?

Design a car only one of your drivers can make work (and even then, only some of the time) and you might as well not even run the other one and save the money.

At least under Mekies Yuki has been given similar equipment levels and while he still cannot qualify to save his soul, he is making up a lot of positions during the races now which is saying something considering how near-impossible it is to pass under the current regulations.
