Lando can finish second and still win. But if Max is winning and Oscar and Lando are second and third, will Oscar pull over and let Lando through?

That’s the $64,000 question (dating myself.) Based on Oscar’s comments in post and since I’d say he will not pull over. I sure as heck wouldn’t. Make Lando work for it. He’ll be on the radio pleading for help anyway ( see Peter Windsors clip.)

Max living in his head is the challenge. Not Oscar or McLaren.

I went back and edited my post. I saw this yesterday. Marko was the the bigger problem as always. Toto posted on his Instagram account an interview where he met with GP and they settled it. I admit while watching the race it looked to be avoidable. I should have waited for more in car footage.

Fuzzy math? Third would do it. Lando is on 408 points - third (15 points) puts him at 423. Max is at 396, his best total would be 421. A podium for Lando and he's the champion.

lol. I’m rubbish at maths without excel! But the scenario where Lando needs Oscar to pull over could still happen. Personally I’d be telling Oscar unless Max and Lando are both running 5th or lower you need to support Lando. I’m sure the sponsors and team would much prefer seeing a shiny number 1 on the teams car.

De Telegraaf now reporting that Yuki Tsunoda will be replaced by Isack Hadjar at Red Bulls and Arvid Lindblad will partner with Liam Lawson at Racing Bulls.

Yuki might remain as a reserve driver for either team or he may need to look for employment elsewhere (perhaps with a Honda-powered team in IndyCar).

Yes the stream I watched actually showed after the race what happened, and you could see the rookie clearly lost it, VERY nearly went of completely. But before then the commentators themselves said did he just pull over and let Lando pass? Lando was also on fresher tyres then too so had more grip to get past.

I saw it happen live, if you were watching live you would have as well, and you could tell he didn't mean to to let him by.

I hope Lindblad is ready.

We were watching live, using F1 TV, and before we could process what happened the commentators “helped our brains” as they immediately made the remark that Kimi let Lando pass.

I doubt it and I hope not. Things look very strained from the outside within McLaren and Oscar has made some quite inflammatory comments in the media pen and then downplayed them but it’s clear there’s frustration. He’s now happier in the car after declining the previous suspension upgrade and he’s found the pace he’s lost, so I’d hope he’s still hungry for the title. As a team, I think McLaren are mad not to pick Lando with one race left but that’s not McLarens culture. It’s also not what we want to see as fans.

Imagine if both McLarens come together on the opening lap and Max breezes to victory? Might be frosty in that team over the winter lol.

To stir the pot ....... it would make things very spicy if our dear friend Michael Masi would make his presence known at the final Grand Prix at Abu Dhabi. Mmm.... I wonder would that be a curse or a blessing to Max?
Guest appearance perhaps. While they’re on the podium he announces actually there’s one more lap and only Max is allowed to do it o_O

It might be a more fitting ending...

I don’t think he can make it. The Muppets are on tour in the US this week so he’s double booked……😝

I hope they don’t crash together. That would not be a fitting end to what’s been a good season with a few twist and turns.

However if I hear about the 104 point deficit one more bloody time….grrrrrrr

The various permutations still favor Lando, as any podium position will secure him the title.

If Max wins, Lando has to finish off the podium for Max to be WDC.

Piastri has to win, period, and he has to have Lando finish sixth or lower to be WDC.

So the "nightmare scenario" for McLaren is on the final lap Max is going to win, Oscar is third and Lando is fourth. In such a situation, I do expect the team to order Oscar to cede third position to Lando and I expect Oscar to do so so Lando can win the WDC.

If he does not, he is going to seriously hurt himself within the team. Management have stated that if you cannot play by "Papaya Rules" then you have no place in the team (and in this situation, I believe such rules say if you cannot be WDC, you ensure your teammate is) and I expect a majority of the team's staff support Lando more than Oscar and if Oscar scuttles Lando's WDC, that is going to generate resentment over the winter break.

McLaren has replaced Piastri for the first practice session in Abu Dhabi with reserve driver Pato O’Ward.

Time for Piastri to get out of that team.

Or he could do a Senna -v- Prost at Suzuka effort.

F1 teams are required to run a rookie in FP1 four times this year and McLaren has run three such sessions so they must do their fourth at Abu Dhabi (they will be joined by Red Bull Racing, Racing Bulls, Williams, Ferrari, Haas and Aston Martin).

Lando Norris has given up his car for two of the three sessions so far, so Oscar is fulfilling his second slot.

As a Max fan I would love him to win. I got to admit that based on the first half of the season I had no expectations to that at all. How the RBR team came together with strategy and driving to get to this result is amazing.

Part of me would like Lando to win as well as I can’t help but feel this is his only chance to become a world champion. It’s now or never. I just can’t see him improve beyond this year. Oscar still has some improving left in him.

In other news, I hope it works out for Isack. I can’t help but feel that it’s too soon for him to take that seat. But we shall see.

Regardless of anything. I hope the two yeah baby’s collide and take each other out. I just can’t warm to George nor Oscar.

I’d be happy with a Max P1, Lando P2, Carlos P3. Lando gets his championship, Max still done the impossible, and Carlos another nice finish and two fingers up to Ferrari 🤣

The one I sympathize most with this season is Lewis. Oh man, what a terrible season that was. I was really hoping for some magic, and a return to the fight at the top. But Ferrari seem so inconsistent and it doesn’t seem to gel.

Ferrari just a disaster by the looks of it. :( I don't mind Lewis Hamilton, one of the "old" guard from "my days" of F1, like Fernando Alonso as well. The rest of them I wouldn't know if I walked past them in the street.
