I was hoping that the Chinese story was gonna be the main plot this season, they set it up perfectly last year and had they ran with it they could of had a great season.

Yeah me too. Could have been really good but they went back to the tried and trusted - and now very repetitive - scenario.

Just got around to watching 24. I'll echo what many of you have said regarding this season as weak. I don't know what the producers and writers could do to bring the thrill back to this show. It seems like they are beating a dead horse. This season was all about character development and emotion more than killing. It definitely brings another dynamic to the show, but I think they've introduced it too late. The series has, HAS to end with Bauer's death (as I've mentioned numerous times before). Heller's closing line was absolutely brilliant and you can tell Jack was about to scream DAMN IT™ and tear the room apart. 4 Episodes remain, I'm sure the last 2 will be shown back to back.

Not thought about this much but why does he have to die?

And as a 7-season or more show they'll have to nail it with the ending whenever it comes in order to be satisfactory. They probably won't though. I can't remember the last satisfying show finale. They usually fall well below of expectations.

Yeah that was the best bit of the whole episode for me. Perfect use of the word "cursed" I think and I love Heller's character.

Would anyone else agree that these past episodes since they got rid of Fayed have been better than the rest of the season put together?

No, I wouldn't. It seems to me like the show is becoming too much of a soap opera.

Also, I think some of the plot holes are getting too big. I just don't buy the chinese getting away that easily traveling off road in Humvees. Where's the satellite coverage? Plus, they transported Jack and Audrey back to CTU in separate helicopters instead of using either of the choppers to look for the chinese.

I also thought Heller telling Jack to stay away from Audrey was just plain stupid.

When Doyle started shooting up the place why not just shoot Chang? And if Jack had the place rigged to blow why not just blow it up and kill everyone inside.

Good chance Milo wont be back next season. We know what happened to father Bauer. When will Doyle get a clue that something is wrong. Why didn't Josh take the gun and shoot up the place.

why does jacks father want to go to China....
i feel a day 7 starting off with capturing Josh back to the States
was that a new mac ad?

Papa Bauer: "This country doesn't like me any more--I'm taking my secrets and going to China!" I really hope they resolve this Chinese back-and-forth thing this season, actually. I'm kinda getting tired of it.

As for the Mac ad, do you mean the "lose a turn" one? I haven't seen it before--thought it was pretty funny. :D :apple:

So we have 3 more hours and a lot of questions to be resolved.

I agree that Jack's son was the "steep price" for Jack's release.

is it bad form to talk about tonight's episode?

i'm really ticked about something, but don't want to spoil it.

the "choose a vista" ad is up on apple's site.

and i don't really like the format this year...keep everything a secret and tell all at the very end. that's how good shows get killed.

You'd think that in the times CTU has been attacked that they would've learned at least something from those times and made higher security. Coming in from the sewers?? Who the hell overlooked that?! I think this season we're being expected to suspend our disbelief a little too much.

And another thing, sometimes "previews" of next week's show give away a bit too much. The "next week on 24" thing immediately after last week's gave us the idea that the Chinese were gonna attack something else, and this afternoon I heard a preview on the radio that said CTU's gonna be attacked. That pretty much ruined the whole first half of the episode for me. Whoever gives away that stuff should be shot like Milo. Milo!! :( :( :(

Saying you're gonna die for someone is one thing, but if you actually do, then it's pretty much assured you won't be getting any action. :p

corrected. jack doesn't have a son. that was his brother's son.

If you remember from earlier in the season, there was some discrepancy from either one of these occurences:

- The time Jack and Marilyn were together
- The time Josh was conceived
- The time Marilyn and Graem hooked up

Josh could actually be Jack's son, although I don't think anyone knows for sure.

i know. i kept saying no more ctu attacks. that should be locked up tighter than anywhere else ever so that nothing goes in. i think the writers are running out of ideas...

and things like this make me question the intelligence of the characters overall. is everyone on 24 stupid? common sense hit an all time low earlier in the year with that two hour show in february, but this was also a negative point...

I think it's gotten to the point where it's all been done.

Woman going back into apartment to seduce boyfriend and plant/steal info -- already been done (though the last time it was done, the woman snapped and killed the guy)

CTU being attacked -- 'nuff said.

Guy crawling around in vent pipes and giving himself up at the very last second on the threat of terrorist killing innocent civilian -- been done.

Ranking CTU officer (or pretend-ranking officer, anyway) killed -- 'nuff said

Terrorists who turn out to be taking orders from someone unexpected (and someone we weren't supposed to expect was That Evil) -- been done.

Foreign terrorists who conveniently speak English to each other instead of their own native language -- been done ;)

There were no surprises here, we were almost able to predict the whole episode blow-by-blow.

24 is getting close to jumping the shark if it hasn't already. Although last nights episode wasn't a dumb as previous ones. The guy getting shot in the head was a surprise.

"The guy" I may not be able to remember Papa Bauer's name, but that guy was Milo! I'd say I was half-surprised by him being shot... it was kind of like in the Fifth Element (okay, not really), when Bruce Willis determines which hostage-taking alien is the leader, marches into the room, and shoots him. :D

edit: and that post, ladies, gentlemen, etc., after 6 years and 8 days, finally gets me to having a processor as my membership rank! :apple:

Perhaps I've become too cynical, but I saw it coming as soon as Milo stepped up. He was being heroic by trying to protect Nadya, and as soon as he did it I knew they were gonna have to kill him. Why else would he step up?

I also knew, in the same vein, that they were not going to shoot Nadya when they discovered she was really in charge, despite the slow, nervous walking and looks when they called her forward.

See? Predictable.
