Looks like the online store is now allowing you to order this display.

has anyone ordered one yet? when does it say the delivery date will be? think its worth a call to my local apple store to find out the stock situation

i just spoke to a guy at the apple store at the trafford centre who said that it could be the end of the month before they have stock in, but have given details and hopefully they will give me a call and hold one for me once they have stock

there isnt any lead time at the mo on the apple store, but could be 7-10 working days as this appeared very briefly a few days ago -

Same shipping date but delivery on December 4th. Oh how cruel. I ordered with a MBP though.

so looks like end of the month (next week) before the stores will probably have stock in

I'm sorry, but that wasn't your argument. Your argument wasn't that if he wasn't able to tell the difference, but rather if he didn't know the differences.
Just stop. I said:

"If you don't know and can't tell by looking, then you don't need it and shouldn't pay for it."

This is the very sentence you quote, for crying out loud.
Even if you used the word "tell" as well, you went on to discuss the technical merits, focusing on the "knowing it" part.
The ability to discern the difference visually requires no explanation. You can see it or you can't.

Your incessant need to be a pain in the ass is really quite tiresome and misplaced, especially when you're simply trying to create an argument out of nothing. It ends here.

I think the headphones will never be shipped until the old Apple IPod Earphones are discontinued -- currently it's still being sold. The discontinued old in-ear headphones doesn't signal the shipping of the new ones.

Anyways, anyone have a tip on when it's being shipped?

What a concept, huh? Someone actually disagreeing with your notion that not only does people have to be able to tell the difference straight off the bat, they also have to know the technical differences, otherwise they should go for the inferior.

I guess, if everyone was to follow your argumentation, there would be no need to educate people. For instance, when I teach people about audio (in a professional environment), I could simply tell thim "If you can't tell the difference and don't know the technical differences between, say, clipping and distortion, lossy and lossless, 16bit and 24bit, you should simply go use a dictaphone and record everything in 64kbps – and never mind how you place the microphone".

I'm sorry, but it seems like you have never met anyone with an opinion, and it surely sounds like you don't like it at all. Perhaps you ought to rethink your stance and premises for your utterings.

A total distortion. Shocking.

It remains unclear what your motive is for drastic upselling. It's really quite simple. If you try both a $300 pair of headphones and a $50 pair, and they both sound equally good, there is absolutely no reason to pay six times as much for the more expensive pair.

No matter how much you know, the product that most efficiently meets your needs as a consumer is rarely a professional product. Usually it just puts someone on a spec sheet mission armed only with what they are told by their research should be "better". You pretend to disagree, so explain why a non-professional, on a tight budget, should pay double for a monitor that won't be used in an environment or for tasks where it would provide any tangible benefit.

I wish these new displays had HDMI support...I'd definitely spring on one if it were so. Hooking up various gaming systems to this would be nice. Ah well...sticking with the Sammy.

Yes, this is very true. Most users won't see, and can't see the difference between displays and bombard the forums with their negative comments about the previous Apple displays.

I constantly tell anyone that doesn't need the higher end stuff to grab whatever they want. The spec sheets they read are seldom understood by them, so they just think the word on the paper mean it's better.
