sorry guys, regent street just had display prototypes...so they're not out yet.

anyone know of any good alternatives?

Why does the Buyers Guide say the follow?

* Despite the release of the 24" LED Cinema Display, unless you are buying that specific monitor, we'd recommend waiting until Macworld San Francisco 2009.

Does this mean new/more screens are coming at MWSF? We're talking bigger sizes?

The 24"LED ACD is a consumer grade product geared for the portable computer market, and released at the same time.

It is reasonably assumed the professional grade monitors will be announced at the same time as the next Mac Pro. So yes, MWSF should present additional monitors. :)

And you think the difference between the "consumer grade" and upcoming "professional grade" will be what exactly?

No glossy display is what I think a lot of people will be hoping for but it is looking increasingly likely that Apple is going all glossy with every product.

1. Anti-glare coating (though glossy is likely)
2. Improved electronics give a better output, not just the panel technology.

It might help to look at Eizo Nanao, NEC,... for a few ideas as to the differences. It's not just the panel technology used.

Hope this helps. :)

Other than the notebooks and ipods, I guess they haven't really shipped any of the stuff they showed off at the last two events.

No Cinema display ('Early November')
No in ear headphones ('?')
The lower end Airs shipping late.
Some of the MBP's shipping late.
Push notifications for iPhone/iPod touch ('September (!!)')
What is going on?

Did they say "early November" on the 24"? I only heard November. I'd like to think it will show up any day now because I've been checking the online store 10 times a day for weeks now hoping I'd at least be able to pre-order it.

I just checked the keynote...he said November, not EARLY November (which is what he said for the Air)...

I guess it'll be in the next week or so...hopefully.

i read on the apple support forum that a guy heard it would be this weekend, the 16th (sunday)

heres hoping!! im in need of one of these majorly, working on the new MBP is great but not for 8 hours a day, i need a big screen!!

lets hope they do release them soon - i asked at the trafford centre store when they would be in and they said in about a week or so

I think the Early November came from the Apple store, which once it became November, switched to 'coming soon', or something similar.

Amen. I'm ready for one too. Still you'd think if they were shipping in a couple days they'd take orders online already.

An Apple reseller by my neighborhood has the shipping date for the new LED display in "mid November", so Nov. 16 seems likely.

Apple store online shows it shipping in 7 days...

...but you still can't order it

'Shipping in 7 days.......from when we let you order it which we still aren't saying when'

You'll receive it in ? days + 7.

Am I the only one who thinks $900 for a consumer-grade screen a little steep? By a little I mean a lot.

I have a feeling that something like this might come at MWSF. Just a feeling and a hope.

No. :D

Add a $100, and you can get a professional grade NEC2490WUXi. Or save ~$300 and go for the consumer grade HP L2475W.

Both use H-IPS panels, IIRC, and are rated very well. :)

Exactly. I could understand if it had some things that patent was talking about. A WiFi Card, extra HD and no wires- less power. As it is, there is no benefit to getting that monitor; except for it's speakers, iSight ... does it even have anything else? The look?

I have no need to a professional monitor. I already have a MBP matted for work in high light locals. I want a bad ass monitor to watch videos with and clean up my desk a bit. You know, get that desktop feel from a laptop. That's why I bought this bad boy. I'm not too thrilled at the thought of shelling out an extra $900 for 24".

I called in and ordered mine earlier today...for some reason, you could call in an order, but you just couldn't order it through the online process. I'm not sure why it's switched back from 7-10 days to just generic November again...perhaps they sold their quota for the time being? My "delivers by" dates are November 24-Dec 3rd just fyi.

I just called to place and order for one and I was told its not available for order yet.

Apparently right now it's not, but I called about an hour and a half ago and it was available then...not sure what's going on. When I first saw it had changed to 7-10 days shipping this morning, I was told it hadn't been released yet, then I thought I'd try again later this afternoon and the cs rep said it wasn't available online yet, but he could take my order over the phone.
