Oh right now I remember that:eek: . I had to watch it at 5 in the morning because I wasn't able to watch it at night. I missed out on a lot of the small details.

Which raised the question, at least in my mind, Why don't they have a portable containment unit (sort of a large ziplock bag) that they could place over/around the canister to eliminate the risk.

I was thinking the same thing. Worst case scenario, throw the thing in a couple layers of garbage bags and tie them tight. It might not be perfect, but short term it'd probably be enough to save many of the people.

Or at least they could have moved it AWAY from the air intake vent (when it was in the hospital.) But no... they carry it all the way through the hospital and out into the middle of the evacuated crowd... doesn't make a lot of sense.

At least it was a little more satisfying when the gas was actually released than in season three. Anyone remember that, hours of "where's the virus! where is it!" and running around frantic, chopping off the arm, and then what happens? Jack runs the vial into the glass doored fridge and it goes "poof."

I loved that! The season 3 finale is my favourite 24 episode. Even if you don't know what the season is about you can watch that episode and enjoy it. It's like a little movie. It felt like it was waaay longer than an hour.

What should he have done? I am sure that there are several people going in and out of CTU in a given day and that several of them are at executive level. Should he question everyone's credenitals as they come through the door?

MacNut said:
Shouldn't CTU have some sort or chemical sniffer that can detect if an agent is brought inside.

Given the fact that this gas is as deadly as it is I would guess that there is no trace of it present until the canister is opened and the gas is released. The problem I have is this. Whenever I walk into the courthouse I have to walk through a metal detector and any personal packages I may be carrying are run through the x-ray machine. One would think that CTU would have something similar and that they would pick up on a big metal cylinder. Of course this would have ended the threat and we would have had to have yet another crisis to take up the last hour.

On a side note does anyone else find it ironic that the CTU security teams wear red shirts?

Yeah, that was a great last ep. I got my dad into the show last season, but he was irked with how unrealistic things were, and was glad when it was over so he could "stop watching it." (I'm not sure who was forcing him to, but...) He was steadfast against watching this season, but two weeks before this season started, I was home and A&E was playing the end of season 3. Well, needless to say he got sucked into watching the last 45 minutes, (after I explained the basic plot of the season, who Chase was, etc) and he's watching this year as well. :D

It's driving me crazy, I'm leaving for a week and will be out of the country... and THIS is the week I'm going to miss! Why couldn't it have been one of those slower weeks a bit ago where nothing much happened?

The thing that kind of irks me about the Lynn/id card deal is... he had just come into CTU to take over earlier that day. How did the terrorists know that they had a way to get that card? One could argue that Walt let it slip to someone, somehow, that Lynn was going to CTU (since the President sent him) but the terrorists weren't initially planning to release the gas inside the U.S., right? Weren't their original plans to ship it to Russia, and only attacked the U.S. because the ports were keeping an eye out? Or was that the lower-terrorist's idea, and the big mastermind always intended to keep it in the country? That's what I'm still a bit fuzzy on.

Right. Because it's the data stored on the keycard itself that determines who has access to what, including the security badge pictures.

Ok as with last week I say we use the 24 gag order from 9pm until 1am EST so most get an opportunity to see without a chance of spoilers.

Okay, I have to say this - if you know that potential spoilers may exist in this thread, why read it before you've watched the show? When do we draw the line? Is 1am EST late enough? It won't be starting in Hawaii at that time. What if I TiVo it and don't watch until tomorrow?

Besides, waiting until 1am EST means that those of us who did watch it at the scheduled time in our time zone can't discuss it until likely the next day. Many of us may like to post comments about the show before we go to bed and forget key details, or get caught up in work or whatever the next day.

Just don't read here if you don't want to see potential spoilers.

Lets see how good tonight's episode will be first, I doubt it will be up to last weeks Magnitude.

yeah but I mean come on, if you don't want anything spoiled, just control yourself until tomorrow. I mean its not like this thread is consistently active ... it comes alove on sunday and dies down by thursday.

Catching up

I thought I had seen every episode of 24, but I think in the past it had always been on opposite something I liked more. Anyway I just saw the season 1 finally for the first time this weeked. Wow! I think when it originally aired I was flipping back and forth from a show I liked more. I only remember catching the the last minute where Jack is holding his wife's body and crying. I never realized they didn't actually show Nina killing her. I also liked Jacks death wish shoot out. Man, it may get slow every now and then, but I keep forgetting how good it can be. Like last week. :D

I caught that last night and there was a silent clock when she died too.

Tony!!!!!!!!!!!!!

edit:aww stupid caps filter, that looked more dramatic when I typed it.

dont read if you didnt watch

I can't take this any more. I find my self in tears almost every monday night. This whole episode was so sad. Lynn, the Security guy who was on the phone with his daughter:

"Will you wake me up when you come home daddy?"

And Tony....come on.....why?

Jack: 'Dont you leave me Tony'
Tony: 'Shes gone Jack'

I can't deal with this anymore. And like, everyone of the characters I connected with in season 1, besides Jack, and Kim if she counts, are now officially gone. No one is left.

No spoilers?

Is it okay to post spoilers for the left coast? Well, let me just say. You have got to be kidding me! Oh yeah, also... ROBOCOP!!!!!
And what is up with the music change again this week. Was that a little Lion King I heard at the end there?

It wasn't nearly as bad as last week but it was still upsetting. Next week will be interesting.

meh, I was given the ok so post away.

I'm sorry but...

In order for Henderson to pull that off he would have to be... well... you know...

I will miss TONNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYYY too BUT come on guys, he's come back more times than jesus. it might be time to let him go.

don't forget Mike Novick, he's been around FOREVER!

You guys will never believe what happened during the show! About half way through, during the commercial break they showed a preview for next week.

SERIOUSELY WTF!

It showed us before the end of the episode that Tony would die. I was f***** pissed.

And I am devastated. EVERYBODY from season 1 is gone. The characters from season one are the only people on the show I have ever been attached to. Terry, Mason, Chappelle, Nina, Michelle, Tony, Palmer.... Pretty much the only people left are Jack, Kim and Mike.

Also, I have to say it's 2 years later and I still really miss Nina. 24 just isn't the same without her. I used to have dreams about her, and her face would just chill me to the bone. Nina was the source of my nightmares. I loved her.

I wonder if Jack gets killed off this season, it seems to be a trend to kill off the original cast.

On a not really related topic but has anyone seen the new show "The Unit" its kinda cool, plus it has Palmer in it.

Man, even though it's just a show, that part really got to me. Maybe it's because I have a young daughter, but jeebus, I almost felt sick watching it. :(

Damn, Im not getting attached to another one of these characters again! Except Jack, we all know he's invinsible.

And Kim, we probably wont be seeing much of her anymore, if at all.:(

mike novick and don't forget about agent aaron pierce(?). He's been around since season 2 at least (didn't see 1).

I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY KILLED TONY!!!

Also, at the end, henderson stabbed tony, took a gun and ran away. When Jack was in there, i thought that he would come out of the shadows and start shooting.

I also don't like these people for Homeland Security.

I was also upset about them showing the commercial for next week in the middle of the episode.

Next person who i think will die is: the people from homeland security. Jack will get mad an order for them to leave and "never come back". so he shoots them all and then another secrety service guy comes at the end and they have to pretend to kill jack:rolleyes:

And the terrorists are going to bring all of the nerve gas to their next location? wow. how many people will be there that they need 17 canisters.

Let's hope next week will be good. :D

jack will not be welcome in ctu's new administration, and it's really obvious his ideas on stopping the terrorists will differ and he will have to do it all by himself, with maybe a little help from cloe (who has been the only one willing to break the rules for jack...others have helped jack, but only when the situation made itself completely obvious)

michelle and tony are out of the picture and cloe is really on the edge and operating on half her batteries, so jack will have to start shooting all the bad guys like his newly released video game ;)

I totally agree. It really made me think about what I would do in that situation. I have two young girls at home and I can see that conversation taking place. I wowever would be in tears.
