My obvious question of the week:

Why couldn't they just increase the pressure in the gas lines and render the Centox™ inert? Why did they have to blow up the whole plant and resort the the Jerry Bruckheimer Solution™?

There may be an actual obvious answer to this but I don't see it.

Attempt at logical answer: Maybe it would take too long?

Real answer: We wouldn't get any explosions that way!

When they were talking about the explosions and it looked like Jack was lagging behind, I said "okay, so it's going to explode, Jack will be mia and the clock will wind down. The previews will look like he died, so everyone will freak out for a week, but he'll come back about 5 minutes into the next episode." Now, if they had REALLY wanted to mess with us, they should have thrown in a silent clock. I would be worried then!

I want to know why nobody noticed the cops missing after they didn't report in. Wouldn't people notice a cop car heading to the gas plant for no reason.

Who would notice? Aren't they under curfew, so there wouldn't be anyone to see them (except maybe other cops)?

This episode was much sloppier than others, continuity-wise. They start out at CTU, but that isn't where they were last ep. Wayne Palmer just randomly gets some huge semi-automatic weapon?

Also, that new CTU crazy... "I majored in biochem at Cal Tech" (or whereever) - of course she did! How convenient.

this is a good chance for jack to fake his death and be gone for a couple of episodes and have the bad guys really get the upper hand and take over ctu and law enforcement

it has to get really bad before jack comes out of the shadows to save the day

Better to be safe than sorry?

Yeah, that crazy chick is obviously going to cause problems, but I don't know about the German agent. Of course he's pissed at Jack. But how angry is he? I think it would be a better plot direction if he didn't show up agian till the end or even next season. Desmond where are you?

Isn't this strange, that even though after all these years, only 5 days have passed in the series? :D

More like 5 -6 years
There was "Over a year" between season 1 - 2.
3 years between 2-3
18 months between season 3-4
18 Months between season 4-5

The thing I find intersting is that if you look at the IMDB it has listed
Gregory Itzin .... President Charles Logan (2006)
Jean Smart .... Martha Logan (2006-)
Notice the dash behind 2006 on Jean Smarts name and the lack of same dash behind Greg's. It almost appears as if President Logan is going to get killed and not be back past 2006???? HMMMMM????

Complete and utter speculation. IMBd had Sherry Palmer listed in the cast from last week's episode. It's not super reliable.

I really dont care for President Logan anyhow, Palmer was the man...

Spoiler alert kinda

The closer we get to Monday the more information we get. Not really a spoiler if Fox is willing to put it in an episode preview. Jack is back! He does apear in the next episode. He's on a cell phone to CTU, face covered in ash, saying "This is bigger than we thought." Guess he got the information he wanted out of that guy. Guess the VP really could behind it all.

Wow.. I didn't like how this episode started out at all, I thought that the thing w/ Evelyn's daughter would wind up being another distracting side plot to carry us through two episodes, but I guess it was okay after all. Henderson escapes Jack again, Jack must be mad. :p

And that end.. I have to admit I didn't quite see Pres. Logan as being behind it all, mainly because he didn't seem smart enough to pull it off. I guess he's just trying to have cause to wrap all the intelligence agencies up and do his bidding, he's already disabled CTU.

Guess this is another one of those 24 instances where they hint so strongly in that direction that it can't possibly be that!

Can't stop the Robo

I guess the president and first lady are playing a deadly game of cat and mouse. Anyone think the next episode will be the Jack and Wayne show? I smell Lethal Weapon parody. "Yo..you crazy Jack! I'm too old for this sh.."
Oh, excuses me.... ROBOCOP!!!!......I mean HENDERSON!!!!
At least they didn't launch into Henderson's wacky chase theme music. I'm getting really tired of Henderson running away. When is he going to stand his ground and fight?

It's annoying, but I can appreciate the fact that Henderson keeps getting away. a) it lets his storyline and his plot work itself out more readily and b) I like how it continually shows that there's someone on par with Jack. This is what, the third time he's escaped Jack?

Does anybody think this is Jacks last season, I wonder if he can overcome the conspiracy this time. I see the biggest finally ever this May.

the president has everything at his disposal and jack is almost all alone...it should make for an interesting next few shows

I've been predicting this from season 2 and it never seems to happen. I think that for as much as it would make for a great season and an excellent series capper I don't think they will kill of Jack. They haven't managed to establish a good replacement yet and I believe they have signed on for another season or 2. There hasn't been another agent with the determination and willingness to work outside the rules that Jack has yet. I thought they were grooming Chase for it, then maybe Curtis, but the more I watch Curtis it doesn't seem like he has the cajones to go rogue as often as Jack does.

jack's prior experience with the LAPD (he he, make your own conclusions) and with the army's secret delta force could be contributing factors to why jack doesn't work so well with the heavily red tape laden us government, especially division suits who try and micromanage ctu

This is the best season so far in the series. So baroque in its plot.
Yeah, and if it ain't baroque, don't fix it.

24+Big Screen=120?

I think others have said there will be at least one more season. Kiefer Sutherland has been talking up the movie a lot lately, but he says they will only do it if they can make it better than the show and that's going to be hard to do.

he's doing that sentinel movie though where he's more or less jack bauer.

Yeah, but I was talking about the 24 movie he's been talking about developing in interviews lately.
Can anyone watch a Kiefer Sutherland movie anymore without seeing Jack Bauer? Was that Jack in Stand by Me and Lost Boys too?

Guess we are going to have to wait a lot longer for the 24 movie. I can't imagine them topping the show on the big screen then going back to the show again. Of course maybe the movie can just represent the time that passes between seasons, but that would be a completely different pacing.

Looks like the movie will also represent a day, but will not be in real time. Of couse.
The movie could also be a prequel to the show bring back a lot of the dead characters. Could you imagine Jack working with Nina completely ignorant of her future betrayal. How about varying it up if the movie becomes a franchise. They could show Jack back in his Delta Force or LAPD SWAT days.

Nice, but what is up with the music changing every episode. Now it's a little 007. Heller confronts Logan next episode? It can't be that easy. We still have 7 episodes left!

Funny that people keep mentioning the music... I honestly haven't noticed it (changing, that is—though I barely notice it consciously).
