ctu has an open door policy to all:

1) moles
2) troubled teens
3) troubled people in general

;)

I'm okay with the occassional less-than-thrilling episode, because it would be ridiculous if every week was "the most exciting hour yet" or something. I was a little annoyed with that girl with the gun.. I thought they were setting up an interesting dilemma for Jack - he was going to have to let her go. Would have been interesting to see him make a decision he wasn't okay with, at all, and have to follow-through. (Then again, the previews are hinting that he will after all.)

If Kim comes back next week (or the next) and gets kidnapped, well, I might have to just stop watching altogether.

Regarding the mole talk: if Kim had stuck around - or even if she comes back next season - she would be an awesome mole. Jack would never think to suspect her. Otherwise, I want Edgar to turn bad. He seems so nice, yet I can see him slowly turning evil after Chloe keeps shutting him down and dissing his abilities. I actually thought this last season, as everyone seemed to take him for granted or just overlook him.

Yes! Turn him to the dark side! "Master... Where is Chloe? Is she safe? Is she all right? "It seems in her anger, she slept with the new guy." "Nooooooooo!" ;)

Is it me, or does Chloe somewhat remind you of Napoleon Dynamite with all the "Ugh." and "Gosh". I pointed that out to my wife and she seems to think so too.

Yup... if he doesn't have his ID... he's not going to get back into CTU and if he does I'm sure there will be a scene of how he gets in without his badge.

Thanks to the magic if Tivo, I watched this weeks episode last night. Pretty OK episode. I do have one thought, though...

In the incredibly small world that is 24, I noticed that after whats-his-name (the guy from Goonies) got robbed/mugged, his sister and her accomplice rode off on a motorcycle (you can hear it, they dont show it). AND, where are the canisters full of nerve gas? Thats right. A motorcycle shop. I'm thinking the messed up sister is going to sumble across the goings on at the motorcycle shop, try to call brother back at CTU, he wont want to talk to her, valuable information is being missed, etc. etc. etc.

Just my guess.

Very good catch, well i dont htink its a catch but very nice. I did not think of it wish i did but i think your right.

Yeah, as soon as Jack closed the door on that girl, I predicted one of two things - she'd kill herself and the guy would refuse to cooperate, or she'd off him. Big surprise there.

It's interesting that she apparently lifted Jack's weapon without him realizing it, though.

Am I the only person who does not believe this girl is all sweet innocent victim? I expect that she is really 20 something and is actually part of the terrorist group. How many 15 year olds do you now that can handle a gun like that.

I'v never fired a gun before so I have no idea if it's hard or not but she did just shoot him from a few feet away. It didn't look that difficult. But with that said I think that your theory does make sense. She could have just killed him to prevent him from giving up any info.

Nice idea, I did hear the motorcycles but didn't connect it to the motorcycle shop... that would be kind of cool.

Slate had another article kind of about 24... it's about John McCain who is apparently a big 24 fan, and who had a cameo this last week. I didn't catch it, but the article claims that he hands Audrey a file in one of those split-scene images halfway through the episode. Go figure.

that seems like it could be true. he wanted the girl to come because she had instructions to kill him if he was captured. I like how you think.

If you saw the extras on the DVD (it might have also been on FX), there was a scene they filmed just to promote 24 involving a car chase. There also was a guy on a motorcycle involved. The motorcycle sound reminded of that.

Didnt' that extra clip occur before day 5 takes place? Was that car chase the one where Jack had a mullet?

that is a really good point...she could be a surprise villain like nina myers and mrs palmer...totally out of left field

So...what are your thoughts of this week's episode?

I liked it. Nothing too spectacular, but the episode did keep moving.

I hope to see the first lady's assistant somehow involved with this whole conspiracy.

daniel

I was wondering about the assistant as well - but then again, now I wonder about everybody.

Also, did I miss something earlier, or was last night the first time that Lyn (hobbit guy) was directly connected to the president? Logan specifically said something to the effect of "I sent you over there to make sure things ran smoothly."

And I wasn't surprised that no one was in the motorcycle shop. That was an obvious one.

What I want to know is, don't they have infrared satellites that they have used in previous raids to determine the number of hostiles? Why was one of these not used to see that there was only 1 guy in the motorcycle shop? If they had done this they could have seen 1 guy and realized that it was a decoy, just driven by and waited until he moved on. Or heck even get one vehicle to drive by the open garage door and look in to see only one person...

But of course this would lead to the finding of the canisters and then 16 hours of watching everyone go through with mundane tasks. Especially boring around episodes 14-18 as everyone goes to sleep and we have weeks of a ticking clock and snoring people.....

They didn't have infared satellite ... i believe it was them hacking into the security system of the place they were going to go into and found that it had an infared system. A better question is why CTU can see every video camera in the whole country in a matter of seconds ... but they can't for instance turn off power of the heating / AC system. Couldn't you either turn it off via a system or have access to the power company to turn off the account ... I'm not saying it would be simple and far less drama ... but yeah or jack could have sent curtis to turn off the heat / ac during the attack and casualties but the terrorists think they made it

having worked for uncle sam twice, in agencies depicted in this show, it's no secret that us law enforcement has many means to their disposal

but any single agency has very little power and is micromanaged by someone(s) higher up and can never act fast enough to be as effective as if they had more autonomy

the term government slug should mean something here ;)

Former spook? Can you disclose which agencies you worked for?

I know that they haven't used it this season, but I would have sworn that they used something like this in a previous season. Of course it's entirely possible that I'm thinking of a different show/movie with a similar suspense building setup...

Never thought of the AC but I was thinking through the whole mall fiasco that an agent should sneak in and pull the fire alarm to evacuate the building... or even trigger it from CTU...

I like how the one terrorist who was running away from the mall tried to cover his butt with the boss man. He told him that (whomever Jack was pretending to be) killed the other terrorist "for some reason". Ummm, he was chained to a poll and about to be killed. But he acts like it was out of the blue. Funny.

Oh yeah. and the Goonies guy just walked right back into CTU with no credentials or ID or anything. Good thing CTU is looking out for all of us in a secure location.

Long live the Jack Bauer Power Hour!
