And I miss it yet again (but very big & good real life thing going on)...

Congrats to all who snagged one.

Lost it last time because I dithered after adding the 128 GB (AC), so did not make that mistake today.

To be fair to you, only people on their devices with notification mode alive got their models.

Basically, only China had any major iPhone issues. The US set revenue records, along with several other major countries in Europe, Canada, Korea, etc.
It seems I've read this somewhere before. Many, many, many, many times over and over and over.

Such a hypocrite, this C(r)ook. The SE was never about Apple suddenly empathising with people in need of smaller devices to fit their hands, it's all been about clearing inventory. And now he's pushing his latest batch of oversized potato phones with no f--s given about the smaller form factor, like small hands stopped existing.

Clearing inventory of what? You honestly think they had years' worth of components sitting around and they decided to make a new phone model?

This what is going to happen. I walked from Georgia to Maine with a SE, and then last year I walked from Mexico to Canada on the PCT with a SE. It is a 4 ounce device, all the bricks Apple is peddling now are double that weight and consume more power to drive them because of the large screens. Not to mention you can get 999kbps thru the jack as opposed to having a 255kbps limit on lightning and Bluetooth.

I do not want Apple to release a updated SE until 2020 when then can put a 5G modem in it. It would be stupid to release a SE 2 with 4G....because by next year it will be obsolete.

I told a high level Apple executive this last year in Yosemite and told them they would tank if they shunned the weight of the devices and look at what happened.

Nail me to a cross, this is the mountain I will die on and I will make it my life’s mission that I deliver salvation to you all by nailing myself to a cross in Cupertino in fall of 2020 if Apple does not meet our demands.

I will win. We all will win together, God Bless...

Free shipping on this lot - anyone else noticed this? Did they not charge $8+ for shipping and handling last time around?

It's too bad the inventory comes and goes and not there more consistently.

I got a 128Gb from the last round though I wanted one in a Space Gray but settled for a Silver which was available.

I paid $8 from the last round but that's ok since it was overnight shipping.

ASPs were never the issue. That was a point of strength.

Love how everyone is so quick to point out weakness as if it's widespread. Global business is hard and not every country is always running on all cylinders. If you follow the market, you'll know China is a major issue for many businesses.

So if China accounted for the guidance shortfall and services are strongly up something else must be down. Do you know what that is? AAPL still pretty flat after it's dead cat bounce.

Same. Bought one right after the SE2 failed to materialize. The perfect form factor for a phone. I love mine!!!

Yup. And when you use an iPad for "tablety" stuff, no need for dragging a phone brick from your pocket that requires two hands to navigate.

Older dude here. Do not want to carry around a dinner plate in my front pocket.
Agreed. A dinner plate plus a dongle when you want to play dinner music over your stereo.

I'm fairly certain it's a combination of inventory cleanup and absolute reluctance to replace the pricy existing device casts with new designs, while also skimping a few pennies on details (e.g. dropping the chamfered edge finish of the 5S for the SE).

Same as with the last two years' low level iPads that are the same shell, giga bezels and non-laminated screen as the original iPad Air. It was breathtaking in 2013. Now? It's just long in the tooth.

Oh... and there is one more thing...

The SE is discontinued, but you can buy it, as we believe it is the most amazing small device we ever made.

It’s hrd to beat yourself and your intelligence: it is overly overly clear that the path of a smaller and budgetaryly more accessible iphone was a smart one to choose.... and it was utterly idiotic to leave it.

It’s a shame, period!

Where is that cunning and truly intelligent future instinct that should be the motor of Apple?

Include a fast charger on premium phones, keep proper price levels and show some thoughtful touch with reality, Mr. Cook!!

Odd that they keep “finding” SE inventory to sell as clearance lots. I wonder if Apple is secretly running a small production line for the SE and using this model to gauge demand.

I believe Apple continues to manufacture the SE, if only for India and certain other markets. They continue to offer it for sale via authorized third parties as well, so they are likely still manufacturing a limited supply for that specific market, and may be manufacturing new warranty replacement units. The inventory is definitely an odd duck, because Apple doesn't do that. And given that we have seen shipments from specific areas of the country, fits with a theory of mine that Apple made a last minute decision to pull the SE from the store shelves (based on the August manufacture date), to free up floor space for the 7 models they do sell (not to mention the 6 colors of the Xr), and eliminate a bargain option going into the holiday season. This meant all SEs in retail packaging were sent into regional storage. They likely decided to wait until after the holidays to dump them on the market quietly and liquidate them, rather than sell them via third parties or bring them back into the Apple Store.

Or unsold stock is slowly coming back in from carriers and retailers around the world, and is being sold off in batches.

No, these phones are labeled with FCC info specific to the USA. So these were all manufactured for sale in the US, most likely direct by Apple, and were pulled off the shelves and stored until now.

Kind of amazing how people tend to knock the SE like it’s not a fan favorite iPhone at all, considering that this is the _fourth_ launch it’s had on Apple‘s clearance site for over a month, and every time it’s been sold out. Again, I think Apple underestimates that there is a demographic who wants this type of phone, simply because consumers don’t want to carry a larger phone or don’t need all the added technology that these larger phones add either.

Is this really necessary?
No, but as aliensporebomb points out, at least you can’t accuse “cocky jeremy” of false advertising:
Did you see his pseudonym, it's "Cocky Jeremy"? not "Kinder Gentler Jeremy".
According to the excellent New Oxford American Dictionary that comes with macOS:

cocky: (adjective) conceited or arrogant, especially in a bold or impudent way.

Glad to see these back again, hopefully the people hat missed out last time can get their SE before they disappear forever.

I picked up a 128GB Space Grey during the last round of SE clearance.

I am going to use it as a back up in case something happens to my wife's or my SE.
